High-End Make Up Start Kit!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you’re enjoying this lovely day, unfortunately I’m stuck at home with a nasty cold 😦
There’s really nothing worse than getting sick in the summer time! Let me know some of the things you guys do to feel better when you’re sick, as soon as this is posted I’m curling up in bed with a large cup of tea and a harry potter movie!

A little while ago I posted a drugstore make-up starter kit, so I figured it was about time I wrote a high-end one!
Now, this post was exceptionally difficult to choose products for, because I love so many things from a lot of different high-end brands, but i did my best, just for you guys. I will say, there are two or three things in each category because I had such a hard time choosing, but they’re all worth it!

Complexion
Foundation:
As I just said, there’s two foundations in this category, but they have very different finishes.
DSCN1902
First, NARS Sheer Glow in the shade Mont Blanc, I love this foundation so much! It’s definitely a full coverage base, but it gives you the most incredible glow without looking sweaty or greasy, your skin just looks healthy and happy. It’s quite long wearing, although I do find that after a few hours I need to powder, but even then it doesn’t look cakey. My only beef with this foundation is that they don’t make a shade pale enough for me, I can only wear this in the summer OR if I have a bit of fake tan on and work it down my neck really well.

Next is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Foundation in the shade 0.5 (because I’m too pale to be a real number)
This foundation is very light weight, but a very good coverage, definitely medium to full. It has quite a liquidy consistency so you definitely have to shake the bottle before pumping some onto the back of your hand or your brush. It has quite a matte finish and is very long lasting, you don’t need a powder with this at all!
DSCN1906
On the left is the Urban Decay foundation and NARS on the right.

Concealer:
DSCN1908
Again, there’s two of these but I personally like to use them for different things.
NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in the shade Chantilly is my favourite concealer for under-eye brightening and concealing. It has quite a thick formulation, but it blends out seamlessly. You don’t get any creasing with this stuff, and the tube lasts a long time since a little goes a long way.

The Benefit Boi-ing concealer in the shade 01 is a good one for blemishes, hyper-pigmentation, anything you really want to cover up but don’t want to be caking full-coverage foundation onto. This stuff is heavy-duty, it covers anything with the tiniest amount and doesn’t budge all day. I find that I use this the most around “that time of the month” when my hormones are really wreaking havoc with my skin.
DSCN1912
On the left is the NARS concealer and Benefit on the right.

I didn’t choose a powder for this post because I don’t see the point in spending money on a high-end powder when the drugstore one’s are awesome anyway.

Bronzer/Contour:
DSCN1915
The Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is something I love using in the winter when I’m at my palest. It adds a really beautiful flush of colour to the skin without being too orange or red, it’s got a good honey tone which is great for warming up the skin. Since it’s matte, I also occasionally like to use this to contour my face slightly, not a strong line but a subtle shadow for days when I don’t feel like wearing too much make-up.

The Charlotte Tillbury Film Star Bronze and Glow is the perfect contour shade, it has just the right amount of grey in it so that it creates a beautiful shadow to slim out the face, despite the fact that it is slightly shimmery. I find this can be a bit too dark to bronze my whole face with, but if I use a really light hand I can get away with it for photos or a night out.

Lastly, the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in the Shade Luminous Bronze Light. This product is incredible for bronzing, it has the classic hourglass ambient powder mixed in with a muddy pigment that allows for the perfect sun kissed look. I get so many compliments when I wear this because it’s so natural looking, it has a buttery texture so it doesn’t drag or skip when it’s applied to the skin. I would recommend this shade especially for people with paler skin.

Blush:
This was such a hard category for me because I am a blush fiend. I managed to pick two brands that I think are the best of the bunch!
DSCN1920
MAC blushes in general are just incredible, they have a great range of shades, the pigmentation is good and they last all day. Some of my all time favourite blushes are from MAC! The two I photographed here are Cubic, which is a really natural dusty rose shade for days when I’m wearing a bold lip or a smokey eye. The other shade is Springsheen which is a very shimmery, very girly coral pink that I love to wear with gold eye shadow and a natural gloss.

Next are the NARS blushes, I find that NARS has a very unique range of colours, from naturals to bright bright bolds, the finish is good and the pigmentation is outstanding! Literally you need to dab your brush in once per cheek and you’re good to go, I also feel like NARS blushes are a bit more luxurious with the packaging and the velvety feel of the product itself. The two I’ve photographed here are Seduction, which is a deep plum/cranberry shade that adds the most romantic flush to your cheeks. The other is Almeria which was limited edition last Christmas, but its sort of a rusty cranberry shade that I love to wear with a nude lip and big winged liner.
DSCN1921

Highlighters:
DSCN1926
The MAC mineralized skin finishes are really beautiful and natural highlighters, sort of a barely there subtle sheen to the skin. You can apply them all over the skin, just the cheek bones and the other high points of your face or really wherever you want.

The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors are quite the opposite, they take “strobbing” to a whole new level. These will give you JLo glow for sure! very finely milled, high shine and pigmentation, I only apply these to the high points of my face and very lightly, but it gives the most incredible glow. I like to use them as eye shadow as well, because otherwise I’ll never hit pan before they go out of date.

Finally the MAC cream colour bases are a great in between, they’re not so subtle you can’t tell they’re on your skin, but they’re not too over the top either. The cream formulation allows for easy blending and a long lasting shine!
DSCN1928

Eyes
Shadows:
DSCN1931
As far as palettes go, you really can’t go wrong with the Urban Decay Naked palettes, they have an incredible range of shades to suit everyones preferences and skin tones. The shadows are buttery and blend well, they last all day and there’s enough colours to create any kind of look imaginable ( especially now that they brought out the new smoky palette).

For individual shadows MAC is the cream of the crop. You can pick and choose your own shades to make your own palette, or just buy the little pots if you’re the kind of person who wears the same look every day. They have an incredible range of colours for all the different looks you could want to create, the pigmentation and formulation of all their different finishes is amazing. The first high-end eye shadow I ever bought was MAC All That Glitters and I’ve probably re-purchased it 15 time since then!

Liquid liner:
DSCN1943
I know this is not a shock to anyone, so I won’t ramble. The Kat Von D tattoo liner in Trooper is the best liquid liner in the world, hands down.

Kohl liners:
DSCN1944
MAC makes such lovely pencil liners, they’re soft enough that you can smudge them out on your upper lash line, but they’re also long lasting enough to stay on your water line all day long!
DSCN1947
Left is MAC Coffee, right is MAC Teddy

Mascara:
DSCN1950
I don’t really see the point in paying full price for high-end mascara’s but if I had to pick one it would be the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. This stuff separates and adds length and volume without being too clumpy! It gives the effect of false lashes without having to fuss with real ones, my only beef with this is that it flakes after the first few uses.

Brows:
DSCN1941
Anastasia Dip Brow in Soft Brown is the only brow product I’ve ever found that stays in place and looks natural. You have to be very light handed when applying this, but once you get the hang of it your brows will never have looked better! Not to mention you need to tiniest amount so the pot will last you forever!

Lips
Lipsticks:
DSCN1953
This was also a difficult category to choose for, but again MAC and NARS came out on top.
I don’t think I need to ramble too much about MAC lipsticks because at least every woman I know owns at least one. They are great for every finish, glossy, matte, creamy, bold it doesn’t matter, MAC has your back. Obviously depending on the finish they don’t all have the same wear time, but they all have great shades, finishes and they smell like vanilla which is always a bonus. I do find that some of the matte shades can be quite drying, but that goes with any brand as well.

NARS Audacious lipsticks are a fairly new launch but they quickly climbed the favourites ladder for me. The formulation of these is amazing, it’s creamy and light but not so much that it slides all over your face. The staying power is great, and the range of colours is incredible! Again the packaging of the NARS lipsticks is a lot more sophisticated and luxurious, and they also all have girls names which i think is just adorable.
DSCN1956

Tools
DSCN1957
Last but not least are tools!
I recently discovered the Beauty Blender (late to the party, I know), and I am in love. This little sponge applies any foundation or concealer without it looking too much, it absorbs any excess product which doesn’t allow you to apply too much to your skin. It blends out products like a dream, leaving your skin looking airbrushed with no harsh lines or bunching product.

As far as brushes go you can’t go wrong with MAC or Sephora professional line. all synthetic so they’re easy to clean, and super soft so they won’t aggravate your eyes or skin at all!

That’s it for today my loves, time for Harry Potter and some peppermint tea!

Until next time,
xoxo

Sephora.ca Haul #3 : VIB Rouge sale part 1

Hello beautiful people!
I’m sorry I’ve been away for a while, but I hope while I was gone you’ve all done incredible and exciting things!

So, as many of you may know, Sephora recently had a sale where VIB’s and Rouges either got 10% or 15% of their purchases. (I’m a VIB Rouge so I received 15% off all purchases from April 13th to the 21st!)
When I received this glorious news, I thought to myself, what kind of beauty blogger would I be if I didn’t utilize my discount to the fullest? Meaning, this is actually only the first half of my haul because I placed a second order on Monday which will be coming in the mail later, so once I get that I’ll do a second post if you guys are interested in seeing that!
I did re-purchase a few of my holy-grails but I also got a few new things too!

Let’s get to it, shall we?

First thing I picked up was the new Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in the shade Luminous Bronze Light ($60).
Now, when I swatched this, I was slightly nervous because it looked really orange, and the shimmer in it seemed very chunky. BUT when I applied it to my skin with a brush I fell head over heels in love with this product! It adds the most natural and radiant glow to my face, it doesn’t look orange on the skin at all, and the shimmer is almost non-existent!  This is very pricey (hence waiting for %15 off) but for me, well worth the price, because as a woman with a fair complexion, I find it very hard to find beautiful bronzers, but this baby is going to be adding a bronze glow to my skin for the foreseeable future!
I believe they have a shade for darker skin tones as well, but if you’re interested in trying these I would suggest actually applying them to the face with a brush, as opposed to swatching them with your fingers!
DSCN1660DSCN1662

Next up is something that won’t be a shock to those of you who have been reading Laauraborealis for a while. The Clinique bottom lash mascara ($12), I can’t use anything else on my bottom lashes! This teeny-tiny brush separates my lashes like a dream, it coats them evenly and without clumps. Not to mention the formula is literally like concrete, this stuff does not move from your bottom lashes! I wish Clinique would use this formula for one of their regular mascara’s; I would be on that in a snap!
DSCN1654DSCN1655

You all know I love my NARS radiant creamy concealer, but I’ve re-purchased it so many times that I thought I’d give something else a try during the sale, so I picked up the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Cover Concealer (that’s a mouthful) in the shade fair neutral ($34). This concealer is super impressive; it has a light weight texture with incredible coverage! I wouldn’t say it has as much coverage as the NARS concealer, but sometimes it’s nice to have something smoother under the eyes, and this blends out really nicely. It has a doe-foot applicator which makes it easy to apply, and it lasts all day without creasing, all in all I’m really enjoying this!
DSCN1659

Obviously when I placed this order, I completely forgot about my bathroom drawer full of make-up bags and got myself another one! I will say though, that this one was just too cute to pass on! It’s a Sephora make-up bag that says ‘life is short, wear more make up’ ($18) They had a couple of more with different sayings, but I liked this one the best.
DSCN1656

The next two products are re-purchases as well, and I’ve definitely talked about them before so I won’t ramble on too much.

The Living Proof PHD 5-in-1 leave in treatment ($18 for 1 oz) is my absolute favourite leave in conditioner. If I forget to use this, or run out of it, my hair is a frizzy and dry mess; my hair is so much smoother and softer when I put this in after I shower!
DSCN1651

Finally, the Urban Decay de-slick oil control setting spray ($36) Honestly, if you’ve never tried this stuff you need to! My make-up stays in place all day long with no shine when I use this! It’s absolutely a Holy Grail product for me; I cannot be without this stuff in my collection!
DSCN1652

Alright my loves, let me know if you want to see the second half of this haul and I’ll definitely write a post when it comes in the mail!
I have lots of posts planned for the upcoming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!
Until next time,
xoxo

My very first Ipsy Glam Bag!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you all had a much better week/weekend than I did, as I spent mine lying on a couch icing my swollen chipmunk face. On the plus side, I did manage to watch about 15 movies and eat lots of jell-o and pudding but all in all I will say that having your wisdom teeth removed is a huge bummer! BUT while I was lying there feeling sorry for myself I got a couple packages in the mail!

Friday I received my very first Ipsy Glam Bag! Which is a similar subscription to Topbox where you receive deluxe samples or full size products once a month, Ipsy is slightly cheaper than Topbox at 10$ a month but I recently cancelled my subscription to julep so I thought I’d give this one a try.

My August glam bag came in an adorable little white and orange polkadot pencil case since their August theme was “beauty schooled” since a lot of people are heading back to school next month.
DSCN0329

I received a deluxe sample of an Urban Decay 24/7 velvet glide-on eye pencil in the colour Plushie, which is a gorgeous matte dark purple colour. I have a full size turquoise one and I love the formulation of these, they really do stay all day, glide on and have incredible pigmentation. I’m super excited to get into using this colour when fall comes around!
DSCN0335DSCN0334

This next product came in handy when I was too lazy to wash my hair because my face hurt, and it’s the laboratories Klorane extra-gentle dry shampoo with oat milk. I found this quite nice as dry shampoo’s go, it says to “spray a small quantity of powder 12 inches away from head directly on scalp. Leave for 2 minutes then brush though”, I followed the instructions and it worked really well to absorb grease and add a bit of volume without leaving a white residue in my hair. As for scent, it smells quite fresh and slightly botanical – I don’t love the scent but it’s not heinous enough for me not to use the product. I love that this is such a small size which is perfect for my purse if I need a quick root refresher after work or on the go.
DSCN0332

I was so surprised to see a mini eye shadow quad in a sample service bag! I didn’t think a lot of them sent them out, and I’ve never received anything like this from Topbox so I was really impressed.
CoastalScents isn’t a company I had heard of before so I checked out their website; they have a lot of palettes available in big blockbusters with like 88 colours, and the prices seem really affordable. This little quad is called eye shadow sample set 23. The colours from top left to bottom right are called Persian pink, baby pink, pink silver and Icelandic. I can see myself getting use out of the bottom two but not so much the top two as eye shadows, they might be cute as blushes or even to use as touch ups throughout the day since this is such a tiny size. They’re quite velvety in texture and the pigmentation is surprisingly good, I may have to browse their website a little more after playing with these shadows even though their not the typical colours I would have chosen.
They also have a section of their website where you can buy the supplies to make your own bath bombs which is super cool and I may actually give that a shot!
DSCN0339coastalscent

I also got a Manna Kadar sheer glo shimmer lotion in my glam bag, again a brand I’d never heard of which is one of the best things about sample subscriptions. This is a cream highlighter which you can use for face and body, and even add it to your foundation. It looks pink in the tube but once you blend it out it just adds this gorgeous glow to your skin, it doesn’t look too shimmery at all it just adds like this natural radiance to your skin making it almost look wet but not in a gross way just in a beautiful way. I will definitely be using this on the tops of the cheek bones, cupids bow, maybe even on my chest and legs for a night out. Even though this sample is super small I can already tell that a little goes a long way with this product, also I’m super excited to try adding this to some of my foundations to see how it looks.
DSCN0337DSCN0338

Last is a Jersey Shore Sun mongongo nutrient dense anti-aging lip conditioner, what a mouthful!
This is a completely organic product which is awesome, and is in the scent mandarin green orange ginger, but it mostly just smells like oranges. I can’t say I’m over the moon with this product because it doesn’t do anything for me that my Burt’s Bee’s doesn’t do, aside from the fact that It’s a 100% organic product. With winter coming I figure I can never have enough lip balms, and this one is hydrating and nourishing so I’ll definitely be keeping it on my bedside table.
DSCN0336

That’s it for this post my loves, let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these products or if you’re subscribed to Ipsy and you love it, I love hearing from you guys!
Don’t forget this good buttons and I’ll have a new post coming for you soon since I got another package in the mail while I was couch-ridden! It mayyy or may not be a haul so keep your eyes peeled!
until next time,
xoxo

July Favourites!

Hello beautiful people!
Two posts in one week, I’m on a role! but I also wanted to throw in an extra post because I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed this afternoon and probably wont have another post up for about a week as I’ll be recovering from that!

I know I say this every month but I really cannot believe how quickly August has come to us! I saw a commercial for back to school shopping the other day and nearly spit out my coffee, I can’t believe summer is nearly over. Although I would be lying if I said I wasn’t super excited for fall! It’s my favourite time of year! But,July brought quite a few favourites as it was my birthday month, and I also found I was trying out a lot of new things throughout July, so let’s dig in.

My first favourite is my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, now I know this came out ages ago but I couldn’t convince myself to buy it because I have a billion neutral palettes and I just couldn’t do it. But a week or so before my birthday I went into Sephora and just seemed to gravitate towards it, and Amber who is my best friend but we are the worst when we shop together because we feed the other’s make-up addictions. So she convinced me (not that I needed a lot of convincing) to pick it up, and I told myself it was an early birthday present to myself haha. I have to say though I am not sorry at all that I spent the money on this palette ($62) It is absolutely beautiful and I love the pink tones in all the colours. I also find the tones really flattering for my skin tone and eye colour, basically I’ve been wearing this every single day since I bought it.
DSCN0322DSCN0324

I unfortunately ran out of my favourite leave in conditioner in July and I have been unable to find it anywhere since! I think they may have discontinued it, so to my dismay I had to go on a hunt for a new one and let me tell you It was a struggle but in the end I was highly highly impressed with the Dove nourishing oil care leave in cream ($6). This stuff is meant to control frizz and leave your hair feeling smooth and soft and shiny, as it’s enriched with oils. It really does everything it says on the bottle and smells great to boot, I apply about a dime sized amount of this to my towel dried hair starting at the ends and working whatever’s left on my hands into the rest of my hair and I find it really does leave my hair softer and smoother no matter how I style it, I really can’t complain about the price either as it’s so reasonable, I may have found a new favourite. Leave a comment below if you have a favourite or and recommendations for me!
DSCN0319

Next was a birthday gift from Amber, and let me tell you I am a spoiled girl. It’s a beautiful Tory Burch wallet; I absolutely adore this wallet because it’s so sophisticated and chic and will match any purse I ever buy. I couldn’t believe it when I opened it because it’s just so luxurious and gorgeous, I feel like a very classy lady every time I pull this out of my bag. I love that it’s all black with beautiful gold hardware, just elegant and grown up and also fits all my cards which is amazing because I have a ton of cards. I didn’t want to look up the price as it was a gift but I’m sure it’s on her website if you want to check it out!
DSCN0317DSCN0318

This is a product I’ve had in my collection a while and sort of forgot about and only used occasionally but it really shone for me in July because I was finding I had a lot of little annoying break outs and this product just made them look like they weren’t there. It’s the Rimmel match perfection 2-in-1 concealer and highlighter. I have this in the colour 125 fair, I didn’t love this product as an under eye concealer but for blemishes it is my best friend, I don’t know if it’s because it’s slightly more yellow toned or what but it just did the best job at covering my break outs and making me feel way better about my skin. I wish we had the whole match perfection line in Canada but unfortunately we only have the concealer, but I will definitely be repurchasing this ($7) because it really did wonders for me last month!
DSCN0320DSCN0321

Last is another birthday gift which I got from my Sister Kate and my brother in-law Wes which also shows that I am a very spoiled lady and it’s the Fujifilm instax-mini 8 in yellow, which is basically a polaroid camera. I think this is absolutely adorable and going to be super handy for fun days out when I don’t want to bring my digital and people can just take the pictures with them if they want. I know they come in tons of colours but I really loved the look of this baby yellow, Kate and Wes were also kind enough to get me a case so I can keep it safe and carry it around my neck when I’m not using it. It came with 2 film refills, each canister has 10 photos in it so I’m definitely going to have to stock up on film because I’m going to be using it a lot! Such a thoughtful and wonderful gift!
DSCN0325DSCN0326DSCN0327

That’s all for now my loves, let me know if you’d like a ‘what I got for my birthday’ post and I would be happy to write it for you all.
Leave me comments as I always love to hear from you guys and don’t forget to follow me on instagram because there may be some photo’s of my post-wisdom teeth chipmunk face!
Until next time,
xoxo

Birthday outfit and make-up look!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you all had a wonderful week!
As some of you may know from my previous post last Saturday (July 26th) was my 23rd birthday! It was a really incredible weekend full of family and friends and definitely made me appreciate the amazing people that I have in my life. Saturday night I went out to a pub here in Toronto called Paupers with a few friends and had some drinks and food and a lot of laughs! I thought I’d do a post about the outfit I wore and the make-up I used!

Unfortunately in all my excitement with it being my birthday and all I completely forgot to get someone to take a photo of just me and my outfit! (I know, so bad I’m sorry!) So I just have this one of me and Carmen, but I took a photo of everything all laid out for you guys so you could see them a little more closely as well.
photo 1 (1)

I wore a peplum top from Anthropologie which I got on sale for $30! I love this top because it’s a soft fabric and the bottom is scalloped which I think is really cute and feminine, I also love that it has a little peep hole in the back adding a little bit of sexiness to the top. Again so sorry I didn’t take better photos of me in the clothes!
DSCN0300
DSCN0301

I wore dark skinny jeans from American Eagle ($49.99) which are super comfortable and also super flattering
and finally I wore blue Jeffery Campbell heels which I bought on sale last summer but I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for them. I love these shoes, they’re not so high that I’m going to snap an ankle but they’re high enough that I still feel flirty and cute when I wear them and I adore the fact that they’re blue.
My purse is just a brown little bag I bought from ALDO a million years ago; I wanted to use this because it actually zips up and also because it’s small and easy to carry around. I know it doesn’t match my outfit but it’s also the kind of bag I can toss around and not be worried because it’s so old and well loved.

For make-up I really wanted to do something a little bit smokey but with some colour so I used my brand new Naked 3 palette which I bought myself as an early birthday gift (woops) I used a lot of the colours, really building them up and creating the look I really wanted to achieve and I was super happy with how it came out.

Date night outfit and make-up look!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and got up to some super fun things!
Right now in Toronto there’s a thing called summerlicious going on! Restaurants have three course lunches and dinners on for super cheap, it’s a good chance to try out new places and new foods. Carmen and I decided to make a date night out of it on Friday, so we picked a restaurant off the summerlicious list and had an awesome dinner at Milestones which I wouldn’t have normally picked, but I was really impressed!
Since Friday was a date night I figured I’d do a little post about my outfit and make up for the night!

DSCN0234
DSCN0237
It was pretty hot on Friday so I decided to go with a striped cotton dress that I picked up at Target a few weeks ago, I think it was around 30$, my necklace is from Urban Outfitter and it was about $20, my sandals are from DSW, I picked them up in Cleveland last summer and I think they were $50. My purse is vintage I got it at Black Market and it was $10. I really wanted to keep my outfit simple and fun, not to mention comfortable (and a little stretchy) since we ended up eating a TON of food.

DSCN0245
DSCN0247
I wanted my make-up look to be a little smoky but nothing too dramatic!
Foundation : Estee lauder double wear in 1C1 cool bone ($45), I just buffed this all over my skin
Concealer: NARS radiant creamy concealer in Chantilly ($32), I used this on any blemishes and under my eyes
Brows: I use Omega eye shadow ($19) from MAC and apply it with a MAC 266 brush ($22)
eye lid primer : Urban decay primer potion ($22)
eye shadow : Naked 2 palette ($62) I used bootycall all over the lid, and snakebite thought the crease and outer corner, and I used black out along the lash line to add some definition.
DSCN0257DSCN0259
mascara: Maybelline pumped up collosal volume express ($7) , Clinique bottom lash mascara ($12)
Powder : RImmel stay matte ($5) I used this through my t-zone to get rid of some shine

May Favourites!

Hello beautiful people! I know I said this in my last favourites post but I really cannot believe how quickly the months are going by!!
I have a few new and revisited favourites to share with you guys so I’ll just dive right into it

First up is the Sleek face contouring kit in the colour light. I’ve talked about this in a previous post but I recently re-discovered it and I absolutely love this duo! The bronzer is a matte brown that has great colour pay off, since I’m super pale I use a duo-fibre brush to pick up less product, but it is totally buildable and gives you a gorgeous bronzed effect. Sometimes I’ll contour with this or I’ll just bronze up my face for a sun kissed look. The highlighter it comes with is a nude colour that gives the most amazing glow on the cheek bones, down the nose, in the cupid’s bow wherever you want to highlight. It’s not an overly dramatic highlighter but like the bronzer it’s definitely buildable to create a really dewy and glowing effect or you can use a small amount and get a nice natural radiance. This duo is also ridiculously cheap ($9.99), we don’t have sleek in Canada so when I went to order this and a few other things off their website a few months ago I couldn’t believe the prices! If you’ve never checked out their stuff I would highly recommend giving it a little look because their products are incredible.

** Sorry you can’t really see the highlighter!

Next is the Hourglass ambient lighting blush in the colour luminous flush. This is a pretty deep pink, don’t be fooled by the way it looks in the pot, the pigmentation on these things is hard core! I literally tap my brush into it and apply it because that’s all you need. The formulation is wonderful; it feels really silky and buttery and gives you a gorgeous flush to your cheeks, it’s all I’ve been wearing in May. The name is actually the perfect explanation of what it looks like on the skin. These are pretty pricey at $41.00 but if you’re looking for a luxurious blush than I would say this is definitely a good one to be checking out!

I love my Naked 2 palette, it’s definitely a go-to for me but sometimes, and I’m ashamed to say this, I neglect some of the colours in it. But NO MORE! I discovered the shade Chopper in the month of May and learned to never take a palette for granted again, because even though something doesn’t look nice in the pot does not mean it won’t look divine on your eye lids. This eye shadow has been all I’ve wanted to wear this month; it’s a beautiful copper-toned colour with shimmer and glitter. The glitter isn’t big and is really hardly noticeable, but the colour is just so summery and lovely and I personally think it suits my skin tone wonderfully. So I sincerely apologize to Chopper and promise to never forget you again! If you own this palette (or don’t) I would suggest try it out or going into the store to swatch the whole palette because it’s just the best.

Last beauty product is the Maybelline pumped up colossal volum’express mascara ( Jeez their mascaras have long names) This recently hit the stores and I have to say I’m really impressed. I’m already a fan of Maybelline’s mascaras in general but I really liked this one because the brush is HUGE which I love, and the formulation is nice and the price is right ($7.99). It’s super black and creates volume without clumping and in only a few coats. I do find I get some flaking but I’ve lost all hope in finding a mascara that doesn’t flake. I think it might be because I wear glasses, and maybe my lashes are hitting my frames… hm.. do any of you wear glasses and find you have this problem? Let me know in the comments.

I think I’m a little late to the game on this favourite but I’m not sorry that I picked it up at all and it’s the novel The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. My friends have been telling me to read this, especially because the film is coming out, but I was all like “mehhh.. it’s probably not worth the hype” well that was foolish of me because this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I won’t give anything away in case some of you want to read it/see the film but I will say that I laughed out loud, I sobbed like a baby, I honestly gained a whole new perspective on terminal illness and how it can affect people (teenagers in this case) and how they can handle it with wit, a sense of humour and grace. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read it and what you thought! I really can’t wait to see the film and would 100% recommend reading the book first because in my experience the book is always better.
