Make up Anti-Haul

Hello beautiful people, I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the wonderful weather now that spring has finally sprung!

I noticed recently that some of my favourite YouTuber’s have been doing Make up Anti-Hauls (if you’re thinking Lo, what the heck is that?) allow me to explain. Basically an Anti-haul is where you talk about make up you AREN’T(that’s right) going to purchase and the reasons why, and lately there have been some launches that I just wasn’t interested in, so I thought this was the perfect time to write my first Anti-Haul post!

  • just a little disclaimer, these are just my reasons and opinions for not purchasing these products, if you love them and the work for you that’s amazing, these just aren’t my cup of tea. xx

make believe in yourself

First up we have the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself eyes and cheeks palette $52.00 CAD. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very pretty palette, I am very drawn to a couple of the shades, but for $52.00 I could buy a palette that has all the colours I love with a mix of shimmers and mattes. The formulation of this looks very sparkly, and there’s only 1 matte shade, so I feel like I would need to be using this along side some of my other shadows, which also makes me think this isn’t very travel friendly. I haven’t swatched this myself, but some of the reviews I’ve read mention that there’s quite a bit of fall out with this palette as well (something to think about) I just can’t see myself reaching for this, which is why I’m going to pass on this guy.

prismatic amethyst

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in prismatic Amethyst $46.00 CAD. People in the beauty community have been going nutso for this little guy, and to be honest, I’m just not into it. I LOVE the Becca shimmering Skin perfector’s, moonstone is a holy grail, but with this particular shade, I just can’t imagine where I would ever wear it. I know there are lots of ways I could use this, like as an eye shadow topper or a lip topper, but in my day to day that’s just not my style. I know the formulation of this is flawless, and the packaging is super cute, it’s just another one that I can’t see myself using.

natural love palette

Too Faced Natural Love Palette $69.00 CAD – I’m not going to lie, I want this – BUT I do not need another neutral palette in my life at the moment. This looks like a dream come true, not only because I love Too Faced as a brand, or because the packaging is heavenly, but because it has 30 gorgeous shades in it. I think the price is not bad for the number of shadow’s you’re getting, and the pan size looks decent, but again I do not need to spend the money on another neutral palette… I will say though… my birthday is in July.. for any of my close friends/family members reading this 🙂

too faced highlighters

Last up are the Too Faced Love Light highlighter $38.00 CAD again,I wanted these – look at the embossing on them!! and the packaging is absolutely adorable. unfortunately, when I went into the store to look at them, there just wasn’t a shade that I thought suited my skin tone. The palest one is very cool toned and frosty, the gold is very gold and the champagne is a little too pink, none of them were the perfect fit. The formulation is gorgeous and silky, and will give you an incredible glow! I just decided to pass on these, which took a lot of will power.

Let me know in the comments if there are any items you’ve passed up on recently!

That’s all for now my loves,

until next time, xoxo

Hello beautiful people! Happy Friday, I hope you all have fabulous plans this weekend!
On Wednesday I awoke to two, yes two, Sephora boxes on my door step!  So I figured a haul was in order!
I got quite a few samples I’m eager to try, and re-purchased my favourite concealer.
I also picked up a few skin care bits for my mom because I’m a good daughter that way…and also Sephora has double the points on skin care at the moment, so I ordered some products for her to reap the benefits! (THANKS MOM!)

I’ll start with the samples to get them out of the way!
I used 250 points to get a tiny bottle of the Dolce and Gabana fragrance Dolce because I really like the scent and wanted to give it a try.
I got a sample of the Makeup forever HD cream blush in 410 which I’m pumped to try, and a small atomizer of the Tom Ford velvet orchid perfume.
I also got the atomizer of Flora by Gucci (To be honest, the samples weren’t that great when I placed these orders) and the Amorepacific night and day eye treatment which, I’ve heard really good things about.
Living proof “prime” style extender, which is a leave in treatment that is supposed to help your curls or any style really, stay in place all night and even into the next day.
For one of my orders I got a sample bag of 12 skin care samples, that included a bunch of things I love in sample size ( so handy for weekends away) and things I’ve heard great reviews on, like the Omorovicza thermal cleansing balm.
For my other order, I used a promo code to get a sample of the Sunday Riley Good Genes serum, which is incredibly expensive, but I thought this would be a good way to see what all the hype is about.

I’ll start with my re-purchase first, the NARS radiant creamy concealer.
This is my third tube of this stuff and I can tell you now it won’t be my last, this is hands down, the best concealer I’ve ever used. It covers blemishes and under eye circles without creasing, it stays in place all day, and has a really blendable consistency. If you haven’t tried this, you need to!

Next is another NARS product, I’ve heard such amazing things about the audacious lipsticks that I just had to pick one up. I definitely get what all the fuss is about; they have a really creamy formulation, while still staying put throughout the day. I got the shade Anna, which is a deep brown-rose with plumy undertones, it’s a beautiful shade to wear every day, but I definitely think I’ll be picking up some of the bolder shades in the line!

You guys know how much I love my Too Faced products, so when I saw this blush/bronzer duo online I had to put it in my basket!
The Too Faced soul mate’s blushing bronzer come in two shades, Ross and Rachel and Carrie and Big, which is the one I got, because A. I love sex and the city and B. the blush colour called my name.
The bronzer is a light shade that is perfect for subtly contouring my super pale skin, with a tiny hint of shimmer that adds a really natural radiance to the skin.
The blush is a gorgeous peachy-coral that is just right up my alley, not to mention the packaging of this is just adorable!
More praise to Too Faced from me!

Finally, the best and most anticipated product of my orders.
The hourglass modernist eye shadow palette in “exposure” which is the plum toned one, has the most buttery and beautiful shadows! I love the packaging and layout of the palette, and can’t wait to play more with this.
I don’t have anything like this in my collection, and may have to order one of the other shades, because of the amazing quality of these babies. They have great pigmentation, while being super soft and blendable, and they last all day. If you’re looking to splurge on a palette in the near future, I would suggest checking these out!

Those are all my goodies!
I may do a makeup look using all of my new products, let me know if that’s something you’d like to see!

Until next time my loves,

Too Faced La Belle Carousel Review and Swatches!

Hello beautiful people and Happy New Year!
Hopefully you all had a safe and fun new year’s eve! I went to my sister Jen’s place for a small get together, where we ended up in an intense game of charades playing girls versus boys. After midnight Carmen and I headed to one of his friend’s houses and had a nice time chatting and catching up with some of his buddies.
2014 was an amazing year, but I’m super excited for what 2015 has to offer and all the goals I’m hoping to achieve!

For Christmas, Carmen got me the Too Faced La Belle Carousel (which I had been eyeing for ages), so I thought I’d review & swatch it for you guys!
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I am a massive fan of Too Faced as a brand, especially for face and eye products – and let me tell you this gift set did not disappoint in the quality department! Not to mention it has adorable packaging.

I love that it comes apart into 6 mini palettes, making them super easy to travel with or throw into your hand bag.

In this set you get 12 eye shadows, 2 bronzers, 2 blushes and a deluxe sample of the better than sex mascara – which you guys know I love!

The eye shadow palettes are beautiful – you get a couple more neutral options and then this gorgeous smoky silver and green option which I’m very excited to play with.
There’s a nice mix of matte, shimmer and glitter shades which makes this palette so easy to use for beginners or pro’s!

This is definitely the most neutral quad in the set, I love it because you can really achieve so many different looks with just these 4 shadows.
From left to right you have: Tuffed suede which is a matte cream colour, Angel hair which is a beautiful gold shimmer, Haute Chocolate which is a shimmery chocolate-brown colour, and Yule log which is a deep brown with flecks of gold glitter.

This quad is slightly more playful and girly with some pinks and purples. I love these for everyday, but again you could achieve so many different looks.
From left to right : Nutcracker which is a satin white, Nude beach which is a gorgeous gold-bronze with flecks of gold glitter,  Boxes & bows which is a shimmery coral, and Sugar plum fairy which is a deep purple with tiny flecks of silver glitter.

This quad is very sexy and smoky, I will definitely be wearing these on a night out soon!
From left to right: Frost which speaks for itself as a white with glitter, Tin solider is a gorgeous charcoal shimmer,  Christmas tree is a beautiful forest green shade with small flecks of green glitter, and Santa’s boots is a black shadow with blue glitter.
All of these shadows have gorgeous pigmentation and are incredibly buttery, so they blend out like magic.

Despite being part of the holiday set, this duo has intense summer colours. The bronzer is Sun Bunny Dark which is quite shimmery – I’ll definitely be wearing it in the warmer months to add some more colour to my face, but as for this time of year I think I’ll stick to my matte bronzer.
The blush is Luminous peach which looks really nice with my pale skin, I’ve worn this a couple of times already and really like the effect it gives!

This duo is right up my alley, the matte chocolate soleil bronzer is already a favourite of mine, and the blush Who’s Your Poppy? is a beautiful pink shade that I love wearing when I’m having a light make-up day.

I wont drone on about the mascara because I’ve already had it in a favourites post, but I am very excited to have a hand bag size to add to my collection!

All in all I’m so impressed with this set! Too Faced gets another huge thumbs up from Laura.
If you’ve never tried their stuff I would definitely suggest going to check it out, their products are cruelty free and incredibly easy to use no matter what you’re skill level is.
A huge thanks to my man for giving this to me – I am a very lucky lady indeed.

That’s it for today my loves!
Until next time,

Until tomorrow,

Blogmas day 15! – Too Faced semi-sweet chocolate bar palette review & swatches!

Hello beautiful people!
I can’t believe we’re 10 days away from Christmas that means only 9 more days of blogmas!! And today I received an early Christmas gift in the mail.
But first, as always:
The picture actually doesn’t do the glitter in this pot justice, it’s so beautiful and reflects the light in all different colours. I’ll definitely try to apply this and take a picture for you guys when I finally decide to wear it!

A little brown box from Sephora arrived on my doorstep this morning, containing one of the most anticipated releases of the year!
The too faced semi-sweet Chocolate bar palette! Such a beautiful product! Obviously it has the classic chocolate smell because the shadows are infused with cocoa powder, which is high in anti-oxidants and super hydrating.
The packaging is similar to the first one but the tin is slimmer, making it travel friendly, and the names of the shadows are printed in the tin this time which is so handy! I hate that when I’m using the first one and I don’t know the name of a shadow.

First row:
Licorice, coconut crème, nougat, hot fudge and truffled

Second row:
Cocoa chili ( One of my favourite shades), pink sugar, puddin’, blueberry swirl, peanut butter and frosting

Third row: My favourite of the palette!
Rum raisin, mousse, caramel, bon bon and butter pecan

How beautiful does this look!?
I’m so excited to play with this! I definitely think this palette is going to be my go-to for the holiday season as it has a couple of beautiful glitters. And I may even use this baby in an upcoming post with a Holiday party make-up look!

Today’s movie is going to be White Christmas, I’ve never seen this one but my parents say it’s a classic, so I’ll be sitting down with them to watch it.

I hope you guys have a lovely Monday, let me know what you’ve been getting up to and how excited you are for Christmas!
Until tomorrow,

October Favourites!

Hello Beautiful people!
I hope you all had an exceptional weekend and a safe and fun Halloween!
My sister threw a Halloween party so Carmen and I went dressed up as Sully and Boo from monsters INC, we had a lot of fun and I’m still trying to finish off the left over candy! What did you guys dress up as?

I don’t know about you guys but when the weather gets chillier I have a tendency to switch up some of my products that are a little more full coverage and matte as opposed to the dewy and sheer finishes that are so beautiful in the warmer months.
I think it’s because the colder months are full of comfort food, sweet treats and lots of apple cider and hot chocolate which is not great for your skin! And of course the holidays are a great time to play with your make up looks and wear a little bit more than you normally would!
My first favourite is the boi-ing concealer from Benefit in the shade 01 ($26), I was loving this in October for blemishes and under the eyes. It has a very creamy and bendable consistency but it is quite thick and very full coverage which I felt like I needed after traveling and all the sweets I’ve been eating. This product layers beautifully over all my foundations and is a perfect match for my skin tone, it does crease a little bit under the eyes but that doesn’t bother me too much because most concealers crease on me.

Next is the Rimmel scandaleyes waterproof kohl kajal eye liner in the shade 005 nude ($7.99). I’ve really been loving using this on the water line, especially when I’m going for a really bold lip and a neutral eye because I find it just brightens and opens up my eyes so nicely. This is a great tip just for everyday because it makes your eyes look so much bigger!

Too faced better than sex mascara ($30) has not left my make-up bag since I bought the full size at the beginning of the month. This mascara coats my lashes beautifully in product and is buildable to get a really sexy and full volume lash look. It flakes a little bit after wearing it for a few hours but again, the way my lashes look with this mascara on, it doesn’t bother me to wipe a few flakes out from under my eyes. This mascara is expensive but the results are amazing! And Sephora has a lot of great gift sets that include the full size as well as some deluxe samples at the moment, so if you’ve been itching to try this I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Before I left for Texas I got my eyebrows tinted a pretty dark brown colour, mostly because I didn’t want to have to fill them in everyday and because bold brows are very in right now. When I get home and the tint had faded a little bit I needed something darker to fill them in, so I found the Benefit cosmetics brow-zings palette in my collection and I am obsessed. I have the shade light ($38) the kit comes with a powder and a tinted wax, 2 brushes and a little pair of tweezers. I love the powder because it’s a great colour, it’s a taupe with a little bit of an ashy quality, once I’ve filled them in with the powder I use the little angled brush and apply the wax over top to darken them and help them stay in place. My brows have never looked so good! I think I’ll be using this a lot through the colder months because I’m loving how they look when they’re a little darker.

Bite beauty cashmere lip cream in Bordeaux ($32) has been my go-to bold lip all month. It’s a beautiful burgundy shade with intense pigmentation. It’s got a good creamy consistency so it doesn’t dry out your lips, it’s not a super glossy formulation but it’s not completely matte either. The bottle comes with a doe-foot applicator, but you could apply it with a brush for a less intense dose of colour or go right on with the applicator for full on pigmentation. I think it’s going to stay in my make-up bag for holiday parties and dinners because this stuff has great staying power, obviously if you’re eating you’re going to need to re-apply but all in all it doesn’t slide around too much – I’d use a straw for your drinks though.

Those are some of the products I was loving in October, let me know what some of yours were!
And keep your eyes peeled for my next post which is going to be my everyday fall/winter make-up look!
Don’t forget to hit all the good buttons!
until next time my loves,

First impressions : Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Hello beautiful people! I have a quick first impressions post for you today. I was in Sephora a few days ago with my mom and one of the 100 point perks was the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara in the sample size, I’ve heard a lot of different things about this product but couldn’t justify spending 30$ on a mascara so I was super excited to give it a try using some of my Beauty Insider points!

I do really like this mascara, I find it separates my lashes and coats them really evenly in product, it’s also lengthening and volumizing and doesn’t clump very much when you build it up!
The only down side is that it does flake after a few hours and it prints on your upper brow bone as well, but that’s easily wiped away! so all in all I’m really impressed with this mascara and may pick up the full sized if I can get around the price!
Let me know if you guys have tried this and what you think of it! Is it worth the price?!

Stay tuned for my birthday make up look and outfit! Because tomorrow I turn 23!!
Don’t forget all the good buttons and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
Until next time,
– Lo
