Sephora.ca Haul #4 – VIB Rouge Sale part 2

Hello beautiful people!
How has your week been so far? Only two more days until Friday!! I’m definitely finding that since I started working, the weeks are going by much faster!

As promised, this is the second and smaller half of my VIB Rouge Sale haul!

First I’ll get the re-purchase out of the way! You guys all know how much I love the new Origins Original Skin serum ($48).
This is definitely one of the best serum’s I’ve ever used, after this one bottle, I’ve absolutely noticed a difference in my skin; The tone is brighter, the texture is smoother and my make up applies beautifully! I’ve droned on and on about this before, but I’m just so happy to see a serum formulated for ladies in their 20’s and 30’s.
DSCN1685

Next I picked up one of the new Boscia Hydrogel masks ($10), there are three kinds, but I chose the charcoal pore-minimizing one. These are one time use, two piece sheet masks which makes these quite expensive, but since I had 15% off, I figured I would try it out. I haven’t used it yet, but I’ll keep you guys posted!
DSCN1682

Finally, I bought one of the Stila Eye’s Are the Window palette’s in the shade Soul ($59). I’ve heard such good things about these, so I thought I’d add this one to my collection! I definitely went for the most neutral palette, but they do have brighter ones.
DSCN1687
This palette has 5 matte shades, 6 shimmer shades, and one glittery shade. They have great pigmentation and they blend together really well – I did find the glittery shade slightly chalky, but that’s the only one that disappointed me.
I swatched them top to bottom starting from the left row to the right.
DSCN1689DSCN1694DSCN1697
This is a great palette, you could create all sorts of looks with this baby! The packaging is cute and compact, which will make it easy to travel with.
Also, it has an adorable plastic insert with a lovely quote.
DSCN1686

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these!
Until next time,
xoxo

Sephora.ca Haul #3 : VIB Rouge sale part 1

Hello beautiful people!
I’m sorry I’ve been away for a while, but I hope while I was gone you’ve all done incredible and exciting things!

So, as many of you may know, Sephora recently had a sale where VIB’s and Rouges either got 10% or 15% of their purchases. (I’m a VIB Rouge so I received 15% off all purchases from April 13th to the 21st!)
When I received this glorious news, I thought to myself, what kind of beauty blogger would I be if I didn’t utilize my discount to the fullest? Meaning, this is actually only the first half of my haul because I placed a second order on Monday which will be coming in the mail later, so once I get that I’ll do a second post if you guys are interested in seeing that!
I did re-purchase a few of my holy-grails but I also got a few new things too!

Let’s get to it, shall we?

First thing I picked up was the new Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in the shade Luminous Bronze Light ($60).
Now, when I swatched this, I was slightly nervous because it looked really orange, and the shimmer in it seemed very chunky. BUT when I applied it to my skin with a brush I fell head over heels in love with this product! It adds the most natural and radiant glow to my face, it doesn’t look orange on the skin at all, and the shimmer is almost non-existent!  This is very pricey (hence waiting for %15 off) but for me, well worth the price, because as a woman with a fair complexion, I find it very hard to find beautiful bronzers, but this baby is going to be adding a bronze glow to my skin for the foreseeable future!
I believe they have a shade for darker skin tones as well, but if you’re interested in trying these I would suggest actually applying them to the face with a brush, as opposed to swatching them with your fingers!
DSCN1660DSCN1662

Next up is something that won’t be a shock to those of you who have been reading Laauraborealis for a while. The Clinique bottom lash mascara ($12), I can’t use anything else on my bottom lashes! This teeny-tiny brush separates my lashes like a dream, it coats them evenly and without clumps. Not to mention the formula is literally like concrete, this stuff does not move from your bottom lashes! I wish Clinique would use this formula for one of their regular mascara’s; I would be on that in a snap!
DSCN1654DSCN1655

You all know I love my NARS radiant creamy concealer, but I’ve re-purchased it so many times that I thought I’d give something else a try during the sale, so I picked up the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Cover Concealer (that’s a mouthful) in the shade fair neutral ($34). This concealer is super impressive; it has a light weight texture with incredible coverage! I wouldn’t say it has as much coverage as the NARS concealer, but sometimes it’s nice to have something smoother under the eyes, and this blends out really nicely. It has a doe-foot applicator which makes it easy to apply, and it lasts all day without creasing, all in all I’m really enjoying this!
DSCN1659

Obviously when I placed this order, I completely forgot about my bathroom drawer full of make-up bags and got myself another one! I will say though, that this one was just too cute to pass on! It’s a Sephora make-up bag that says ‘life is short, wear more make up’ ($18) They had a couple of more with different sayings, but I liked this one the best.
DSCN1656

The next two products are re-purchases as well, and I’ve definitely talked about them before so I won’t ramble on too much.

The Living Proof PHD 5-in-1 leave in treatment ($18 for 1 oz) is my absolute favourite leave in conditioner. If I forget to use this, or run out of it, my hair is a frizzy and dry mess; my hair is so much smoother and softer when I put this in after I shower!
DSCN1651

Finally, the Urban Decay de-slick oil control setting spray ($36) Honestly, if you’ve never tried this stuff you need to! My make-up stays in place all day long with no shine when I use this! It’s absolutely a Holy Grail product for me; I cannot be without this stuff in my collection!
DSCN1652

Alright my loves, let me know if you want to see the second half of this haul and I’ll definitely write a post when it comes in the mail!
I have lots of posts planned for the upcoming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!
Until next time,
xoxo

The Top 5 Brushes I Think Everyone Should Have!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I didn’t get up to too much. Carmen and I went out for dinner Friday night, which was absolutely delicious! Other than that we have a very relaxing couple of days!

Whether or not you’re just starting out with make-up, or if you’re a pro, there are five brushes I think everyone should have in their collection to achieve a gorgeous look!

1. A dense buffing brush
I personally prefer this kind of brush to apply foundation, because it really allows you to work the product into your skin. Doing this gives you a flawless look, as opposed to flat headed foundation brushes, which I think just sort of paint the product onto your skin, and then it just sits on top of your face.
These are two of my favourites, the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, and the #56 Sephora Pro Airbrush foundation brush.
DSCN1486

2. A big powder brush
These kinds of brushes are great for multiple uses. You could use them for powder, blush, bronzer, or even powder foundation, and you can find this kind of brush in pretty much any price range.
I have the Real Techniques multi-tasker brush (what an appropriate name!) and the Sonia Kashuk powder brush.
DSCN1487

3. A small headed contour/blush brush
I like to use this kind of brush to apply blush to the apples of my cheeks, also to contour. The small heads allows me to get under my cheek bones to add definition, and it also allows me to put my blush exactly where I want it.
I like to use the Sephora face contour brush for blush and the Real Techniques duo-fibre countour brush to contour.DSCN1491

4 . A fluffy blending brush/crease brush
I’m grouping this kind of brush in general, because they are absolutely amazing for 3 purposes. You can use these fluffy brushes to apply shadow all over the lid, to your crease, and to blend (with a clean brush, of course), which are the three keys to a beautiful eye make-up look.
I use the MAC 234 to apply shadow in the crease, the MAC 217 to apply shadow all over the lid, and the Sephora pro blending brush to blend.
DSCN1495DSCN1497

5. An angled brush
These are such great brushes to have in your collection because they are so versatile, you can use these to apply brow products, gel eye liner, or powder along the lash line for definition.
My favourites are the MAC 266 and the Sephora slanted liner brush.
DSCN1502

What I love about these brushes; is that each one of them could be used for multiple aspects of your look.
If you only had these 5 brushes, you could still achieve a beautiful, flawless make up look.
Let me know what you think!
Until next time,
xoxo

Sephora.ca Haul #2!

Hello beautiful people! Happy Friday, I hope you all have fabulous plans this weekend!
On Wednesday I awoke to two, yes two, Sephora boxes on my door step!  So I figured a haul was in order!
I got quite a few samples I’m eager to try, and re-purchased my favourite concealer.
I also picked up a few skin care bits for my mom because I’m a good daughter that way…and also Sephora has double the points on skin care at the moment, so I ordered some products for her to reap the benefits! (THANKS MOM!)

I’ll start with the samples to get them out of the way!
DSCN1430
I used 250 points to get a tiny bottle of the Dolce and Gabana fragrance Dolce because I really like the scent and wanted to give it a try.
I got a sample of the Makeup forever HD cream blush in 410 which I’m pumped to try, and a small atomizer of the Tom Ford velvet orchid perfume.
I also got the atomizer of Flora by Gucci (To be honest, the samples weren’t that great when I placed these orders) and the Amorepacific night and day eye treatment which, I’ve heard really good things about.
Living proof “prime” style extender, which is a leave in treatment that is supposed to help your curls or any style really, stay in place all night and even into the next day.
For one of my orders I got a sample bag of 12 skin care samples, that included a bunch of things I love in sample size ( so handy for weekends away) and things I’ve heard great reviews on, like the Omorovicza thermal cleansing balm.
For my other order, I used a promo code to get a sample of the Sunday Riley Good Genes serum, which is incredibly expensive, but I thought this would be a good way to see what all the hype is about.

I’ll start with my re-purchase first, the NARS radiant creamy concealer.
This is my third tube of this stuff and I can tell you now it won’t be my last, this is hands down, the best concealer I’ve ever used. It covers blemishes and under eye circles without creasing, it stays in place all day, and has a really blendable consistency. If you haven’t tried this, you need to!
DSCN1434

Next is another NARS product, I’ve heard such amazing things about the audacious lipsticks that I just had to pick one up. I definitely get what all the fuss is about; they have a really creamy formulation, while still staying put throughout the day. I got the shade Anna, which is a deep brown-rose with plumy undertones, it’s a beautiful shade to wear every day, but I definitely think I’ll be picking up some of the bolder shades in the line!
DSCN1436DSCN1438DSCN1439

You guys know how much I love my Too Faced products, so when I saw this blush/bronzer duo online I had to put it in my basket!
The Too Faced soul mate’s blushing bronzer come in two shades, Ross and Rachel and Carrie and Big, which is the one I got, because A. I love sex and the city and B. the blush colour called my name.
The bronzer is a light shade that is perfect for subtly contouring my super pale skin, with a tiny hint of shimmer that adds a really natural radiance to the skin.
The blush is a gorgeous peachy-coral that is just right up my alley, not to mention the packaging of this is just adorable!
More praise to Too Faced from me!
DSCN1441DSCN1443

Finally, the best and most anticipated product of my orders.
The hourglass modernist eye shadow palette in “exposure” which is the plum toned one, has the most buttery and beautiful shadows! I love the packaging and layout of the palette, and can’t wait to play more with this.
I don’t have anything like this in my collection, and may have to order one of the other shades, because of the amazing quality of these babies. They have great pigmentation, while being super soft and blendable, and they last all day. If you’re looking to splurge on a palette in the near future, I would suggest checking these out!
DSCN1446DSCN1450

Those are all my goodies!
I may do a makeup look using all of my new products, let me know if that’s something you’d like to see!

Until next time my loves,
xoxo

Blogmas day 15! – Too Faced semi-sweet chocolate bar palette review & swatches!

Hello beautiful people!
I can’t believe we’re 10 days away from Christmas that means only 9 more days of blogmas!! And today I received an early Christmas gift in the mail.
But first, as always:
DSCN1158
The picture actually doesn’t do the glitter in this pot justice, it’s so beautiful and reflects the light in all different colours. I’ll definitely try to apply this and take a picture for you guys when I finally decide to wear it!

A little brown box from Sephora arrived on my doorstep this morning, containing one of the most anticipated releases of the year!
The too faced semi-sweet Chocolate bar palette! Such a beautiful product! Obviously it has the classic chocolate smell because the shadows are infused with cocoa powder, which is high in anti-oxidants and super hydrating.
The packaging is similar to the first one but the tin is slimmer, making it travel friendly, and the names of the shadows are printed in the tin this time which is so handy! I hate that when I’m using the first one and I don’t know the name of a shadow.
DSCN1159DSCN1160

DSCN1162

First row:
Licorice, coconut crème, nougat, hot fudge and truffled
DSCN1165

Second row:
Cocoa chili ( One of my favourite shades), pink sugar, puddin’, blueberry swirl, peanut butter and frosting
DSCN1166

Third row: My favourite of the palette!
Rum raisin, mousse, caramel, bon bon and butter pecan
DSCN1168

How beautiful does this look!?
I’m so excited to play with this! I definitely think this palette is going to be my go-to for the holiday season as it has a couple of beautiful glitters. And I may even use this baby in an upcoming post with a Holiday party make-up look!

Today’s movie is going to be White Christmas, I’ve never seen this one but my parents say it’s a classic, so I’ll be sitting down with them to watch it.

I hope you guys have a lovely Monday, let me know what you’ve been getting up to and how excited you are for Christmas!
Until tomorrow,
xoxo

Sephora.ca Haul!

Hello beautiful people!
Happy Friday! Hopefully you all have sweet plans for the weekend, whether you live in Toronto and are going to the Ex or, if you live somewhere else and are just staying home to relax – I hope it’s wonderful.

A couple of weeks ago I placed an order on Sephora.ca because there were a few things I wanted to try out and I got an e-mail saying it was 4x the points for VIB Rouges, so to get even more point’s I asked my mom if she needed anything and we ended up spending over 300 dollars which got me around 1200 points! woohoo!
So Monday when I woke up with my swollen face and dragged myself out of bed, I was so excited to see a little brown box waiting for me! I didn’t include my mom’s stuff in this haul as it’s all her skin care and not all that exciting haha

First thing I wanted to pick up was the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara. I used to use the original diorshow which I loved, but it just got too expensive so I switched to less expensive ones. Lately all my mascara’s had been letting me down so I thought I’d try this one out even though it’s a little pricey ($35). I’ve used it 3 or 4 times and I’m still not sure how I feel about it, the formulation is great! It doesn’t really flake or transfer under the eyes which is great especially If you’re wearing it all day, and I do find that this really holds a curl, my lashes are definitely not dropping throughout the day. I’m just not sure I LOVE the way it makes my lashes actually look. It’s quite a clumpy formulation, and makes them a little bit crispy almost which is I guess how they hold their curl so well, but I’m not in love with the way my lashes look once I’ve put this on. I’m going to keep trying it, and hopefully I won’t have to return it, I’ll keep you guys posted, let me know if you use this and what you think or if there’s some trick to it.
DSCN0348
DSCN0349

This next product I was super stoked about because I’m already a die-hard fan of the original Kat Von D tattoo liner in trooper, she just brought out a new liquid liner called the ink liner so of course I had to pick it up ($23). This liner is different from the tattoo liner because it’s a felt tip as opposed to a brush tip, I honestly am not a huge fan of felt tip liners and I did find this one a little bit hard to work with at first but the formulation is just incredible. It’s a really intense black and creates a bolder line than the tattoo liner which has a finer brush allowing you to build your cat eye. I’m curious to see how fast it dries out in comparison to her other one and to see if the felt tip fray’s at all, I guess we’ll see. All in all I’m really impressed with this liner I think I just need a little more practice with the felt tip but I think her tattoo liner is still going to stay my holy grail liquid liner.
DSCN0350DSCN0351
DSCN0352

The last thing I actually purchased was this St. Tropez self tan starter kit. Now I have never self tanned, ever and I was very nervous to buy this product but for $32 I figured I’d give it a try. I’ve always wanted to self-tan but because I’m so pale I was nervous I would turn out orange no matter what product I used, but I have been assured that the St. Tropez products are really good so hopefully it all goes alright. The kit includes a mit, and travel sized of the tan enhancing body polish, tanning mousse, and tan enhancing body lotion. I haven’t used this yet but I’m going to get the courage up in a week or two and get Amber to help me as she’s done it before. If you guys have any tips please let me know in the comments!
DSCN0347

Now when you order from Sephora online you get to choose 3 samples that they’ll send to you, the samples the day I ordered weren’t great but they did have the new glam glow thirstymud (the blue one) which I had been wanting to try so I got that one, a dr. brandt self-adjusting bb cream that I’ll probably give my mom because I’m always too pale for self-adjusting product’s. last but not lease I got a jack black double duty face moisturizer which I’ll likely give to my brother in-law.
DSCN0343

I also found a code online which allowed me to get a mini manicure kit for free, it came with a sample of the Sephora formula x cuticle erasing cream and cuticle oil which I’m excited to try out although I love my OPI cuticle oil. It also came with two different types of nail polish removing wipes, the Josie Maran bear naked nail wipes which smell like grapefruit and the butter London scrubbers pad, I think these will be kept in the make up bag I keep in my purse because you never know when you need an emergency fix. Finally it came with this tiny little sample of the L’occitane dry skin hand cream which is also going straight into my purse because it’s just so cute and little and a girl can never have too much lotion.
DSCN0344

Last thing before you check out is they ask if you want to spend any of your beauty insider points, normally I’ll skip this step or pick up the odd 100 point perk but this time I has like 2000 points and I figured I’d spend some since I’m getting 4x the points for the purchase and I’d just get them back anyhow. So I picked this Marc Jacobs highliner gel eye crayon in the colour brownout, at first I was super excited about this but once I swatched it I realised there are pretty big glitter particles in it so I wouldn’t be using it to line the line or define the lash line at all. The formulation is gorgeous though, super creamy and really easily blended and it stays in place, I found it hard to remove the swatch from my hand with a wipe. I will definitely use this as a base for a smokey eye, or even by itself as a smokey eye because the colour is pretty it’s just the glitter that threw me off.
DSCN0345DSCN0346

For 500 points I got this Benefit “hotrageous hits” which is pretty much just a sample pack of 5 of their best sellers, most of which I already have. I really wanted this because there’s a sample size of Hoola the matte bronzer which I’ve really been wanting to try and am super stoked to use.
DSCN0353
DSCN0354

That’s everything I got in my Sephora.ca haul! Let me know if you guys would like to see more posts like this! And don’t forget to hit all the good buttons!
Have a fantastic weekend, you guys are the best!
Until next time,
xoxo

Kat Von D Monarch Eyeshadow Palette review!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend full of good people and good times 
It was Mother’s Day weekend here in Toronto so I spent my weekend doing lots of family stuff including going to a soap making workshop with my mom which was a ton of fun! Did you guys do anything exciting this weekend whether it was with your mom or not? Let me know in the comments what you got up to!

So as a make-up addict I am a frequent visitor to the Sephora website which I’m sure some of you can relate to. As I was scrolling through the site I came across the new Kat Von D Monarch eye shadow palette which is one of two new palettes the other has more purples and blues. Now I have a few of the Kat Von D palettes already and I really enjoy the formulation and pigmentation but something about this caught my eye and I decided I had to have it, so obviously I ordered it, it was a bit pricey at $55 but in my opinion totally worth the money.

When it came in the mail I was super excited to open it up and start playing and let me tell you I was not disappointed! This palette is incredible! It has 3 big base shadows, one is a matte creamy colour, the second is a shimmery beige colour and the third is also beige and shimmery with bigger glitter particles in it which are so buttery and lovely!
DSCN0153

Sorry if you can’t really see these swatches! I’m really pale!
from left to right they are called:Tiny Death (Matte), Telepathy (shimmer), Entomology (shimmer&glitter)
DSCN0154

The nine shades that come underneath the big three completely make the palette, these shadows have the most incredible pigmentation and feel, they are silky and smooth and blend like heaven. There’s a combination of mattes and shimmer in a great variety of neutrals, the combinations are endless!
If you are a neutral lover and you like to play with them I would 100% suggest you get this palette because it’s become one of my favourites incredibly fast.

DSCN0155
from left to right they’re called: deadhead, shadowbox, disintegration, vanish, Delaney, killing jar, summerfly, papilio, wrath. You can really tell the depth of the pigmentation since wrath is covering my tattoo up pretty well!

I’ve been using these shadows non-stop since I got it, whether I’m going out or just doing a simple everyday look I reach for this palette. I’ve been using disintegration a lot as it’s a great colour for spring, it’s a nice gold but not too yellow for my pale complexion as you can see here 
DSCN0161
DSCN0162
DSCN0160

Honestly I could go on and on and on about this thing but you guys would get sick of reading so I digress, as I said before if you’re a neutral fan, or you’re just starting to get into make-up and you’re looking for a good starter palette I would suggest this because it is amazing and you can create as many different looks as you want that suit all skin tones which I think makes this a great value for your money.

Don’t forget to hit all my favourite buttons and leave me a comment if there’s a post you want me to do next!
you guys are the best!
Until next time, xoxo
