Spring has sprung! Luvocracy Collection and GIVEAWAY!

Hello beautiful people!

So I have some very excited news! In honor of spring being upon us I’ve paired with Luvocracy to do a little giveaway for my wonderful readers.
(All the details will be at the end of the post)
Not sure what Luvocracy is? No problem! It’s a website where you can search beauty products, fashion, jewelry, home décor – pretty much anything, and within your profile you can make collections themed with the things that you love or want i.e “beauty” or “wishlist”, your collections are public and other people can “luv” the products you do as well! One of the best things about Luvocracy is that you can actually purchase most of the items that are shown on the site, so instead of searching on the internet to find that nail polish or lip gloss you wanted, you can get it right from Luvocracy!

I’ve created a Luvocracy collection of all of my must haves for spring!

Steve Madden Thunder-c boot
These are adorable for spring time, the brown leather really adds a more gentle look to your outfit and the eyelet lace adds just a little touch of femininity to the combat look.

Rebecca Minkoff mini M.A.C
My best friend Amber bought me one of these for Christmas this year and I’ve just been itching to use it! They’re such a good size as you don’t need a huge purse to put hats or mittens in anymore, just something nice to hold your wallet, sunglasses and maybe a lip gloss or two. Her bags also come in the most incredible colours for spring!

Kate Spade bow earrings
I just think bows are the best thing ever, they can add a certain quirkiness to any outfit and these earrings are perfect to do just that! They’re not overwhelmingly large; I think they’re cute and classy.

Tiffany&co infinite bracelet

My parents gave this bracelet to me for my birthday last year and I wear it every day, It’s so dainty delicate but can be paired with a watch to make it more casual or worn on its own to dress your outfit up a bit. Tiffany makes the best bracelets that are just a great addition to anyone’s jewelry collection.

Anthropologie may flowers loop scarf
I love spring for all the layering you can do, and I am honestly a scarf addict I wear them all the time in spring and fall. This scarf from anthropologie is a great way to complete a simple and nice outfit because of the detailing on it!

Talula Manhattan leggings

I can’t say much aside from the fact that these are my favourite leggings, a must have in my collection.

OPI nail polish in ‘do you lilac it?’
This is just such a perfect spring nail colour! Why not have your fingers look like little Easter eggs? This purple polish will add a little bit of fun to every outfit! And it’s also one of my personal favourites.

Revlon colour stay lip gloss in the colour ‘Peony’
This gloss is such a beautiful light pink colour with shimmery particles in it, but it’s not overly sparkly, it just leaves the most gorgeous effect on the lips as well as adding a little bit of colour. It looks great paired with a gold eye shadow and coral cheeks which is a go-to spring look of mine! Also, peonies are my favourite flower so it’s just a bonus that this gloss is called Peony.

Brandy Melville Agnete knit cargidan
I love the detail in this cardigan; it’s just so soft and delicate looking and would be gorgeous paired with jeans or tights. It’s also light enough that you could wear it on its own or layer it with a jacket, I also like that it’s a little bit different from the classic Brandy Melville slouchy cardigan.

MAC blush in ‘Pink Swoon’
Pink swoon has to be in my top 5 MAC blushes, it’s a matte hot pink colour that transfers onto your cheek flawlessly and creates the most amazing flush. Since its matte it looks very natural, as if your cheeks just look like that! This is definitely another must have in my collection.

I would love it if you guys would go and check out my spring has sprung collection, hopefully it’ll give you some inspiration for new spring fashion and beauty or if you’re nosy like me and just want to check out what other people are loving for the warmer weather!

2013 Drug store beauty favourites!

Hello Beautiful people! and Happy New Year! I cannot believe that it is 2014,that’s just crazy, where did 2013 go?
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family and friends and lots of delicious food, and I hope you all brought in the new year safely!
To look back on 2013 some of my favourite memories are definitely graduating college (woo!) and going to the Bahamas with my boyfriend 🙂
I had a lot of favourite beauty products in 2013 and most of them were drug store so I decided to make this post all about those.

2 foundations really stood out to me in 2013 and they were the Revlon nearly naked foundation and the Revlon colour stay foundation. They both have medium to full coverage but they aren’t at all heavy. The nearly naked has a bit more of a radiant, dewy finish where the colour stay is slightly more matte. I’m very fair, and often have a hard time finding foundations that are my colour (especially drug store foundations) but I find both of these to be a perfect match. They glide on so nicely and last all day long, I did find I had to powder the nearly naked throughout the day but I have combination skin so that was just due to my own oiliness. Both foundations are under 25$ which is a little bit expensive but I would compare these to a high end product because they preform so well. DSCN0026
The next product is by Maybelline and it’s the fit me concealer. I purchased this in November just to keep in my purse in case I needed it, and it ended up becoming a staple in my everyday make up routine. It has a very creamy consistency with fabulous coverage, and minimal creasing, I believe it was around 15$ and it is absolutely worth the money because you don’t need a lot of it. It comes in a tube which is so handy to keep in my little purse sized make up bag, although I found I didn’t need to retouch throughout the day with this concealer, it just made me feel better to have it. I’m usually not to fussed with the concealer I use but this product just amazed me, and I will definitely be continuing to use it during 2014.
Next is my last complexion product and it is the rimmel stay matte powder. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and it is still the best powder I’ve ever used. the packaging is a little cheap looking but for the product itself I don’t even care, I apply this after my foundation and concealer to set my make up and keep my t-zone from getting shiny and I stay matte for at least 6 or 7 hours before I need to touch up. I don’t find it breaks me out or clogs my pores at all either, I keep one in my purse and one at home because I love it so much, it is just so effective and it only costs about 5$! such amazing value for the money you’re spending.
I loved two mascaras through 2013 and they were the Maybelline colossal volume express cat eye mascara (long name!) and the bourjois volumizer mascara. I loved these because they achieved two different things for me, the Maybelline mascara was gorgeous for everyday, it separated my lashes and coated them evenly making them look full and healthy, where as the bourjois mascara has two steps, step one is to coat your lashes and step two adds much more mascara making them look voluminous. I used bourjois mostly when I was going out or wearing a smoky eye and wanted to go for more dramatic lashes without wearing fake ones. the colossal cat eye mascara runs for about 10$ but you can always find it on sale and the bourjois mascara was 20$ but totally worth it. these were and still are a big part of my make up routine, and Im so happy to have found them in 2013.
I have two lipsticks that did not leave my handbag during 2013 and they were Kate Moss Rimmel London velvet matte lipstick in the colour 109, and Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle. The Kate Moss lipstick is a pastel pinky-orange colour which was great for spring/summer and I loved wearing it with a really natural eye. I actually have about 8 of the Kate Moss lipsticks and the whole line in general is great! and they cost around 8$! they are very highly pigmented, and they go on silky smooth, the original formula is surprisingly hydrating. I do find I need to use a chap stick under the matte ones, but generally matte lipsticks make my lips dry. DSCN0036DSCN0037
The Revlon lip butter was gorgeous for fall/winter because it has the hydration of a balm and the buildable pigment of a lipstick, I love this product because its so versatile, it’s a pinky brown neutral colour which was great for everyday. If I was going for a natural lip, a would apply it and then rub it in with my finger to make it like a stain, if I was going for a more intense and glossy look I just applied it in a few layers and build it up. I only have the colour Pink Truffle but I’m definitely going to be getting more, as they cost under 10$.DSCN0034DSCN0035
My final love of 2013 is a hair product and it is the Herbal Essences Split end protector. I adore this because I put one pump into wet hair and it acts as a leave in conditioner as well as protecting my hair from heat and tools, I believe it costs about 8$ but I’ve only ever been able to find it at the grocery store which is so odd. It also lasts a very long time as you only need one pump, I’ve been using this for 2 years and I’ve only had 2 bottles. I use this every time I wash my hair, despite whether or not I’m going to be styling it. I absolutely notice my hair is frizzier, and nowhere near as soft on days I don’t use this, and since it doubles as a heat protectant it saves me having to load my hair full of product.
I’ve actually written more in depth posts on the kate moss lipsticks and the herbal essences hair product, so you can just scroll down to read those if you’d like!
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope these reviews were helpful and maybe gave you some new beauty curiosities for 2014!
until next time

My favourite mascaras

Hello beautiful people!
I was talking with my friend Nicole a couple of weeks ago about make-up and she went through my mascara collection and asked which ones I liked the best, and that made me think that I should write a blog post about my favourite mascaras! So I’m going to give you guys my review on my top 4 favourites, 2 for volume and 2 for every day.
I’m sort of doing it so that there’s a drug store brand for each and a higher end mascara for both as well.
alright lets get this party started

every day mascara #1
Revlon lash potion mascara
I love this mascara for every day use because it’s not overly dramatic but still makes your lashes look fantastic. It has a really cool brush which is shaped a bit like a star/triangle, that has longer and shorter bristles which allows every single one of your lashes to be coated as you jiggle and turn the wand. I have the colour black and in waterproof, which I find is really nice with my eye colour/skin tone, but I believe they make a darker one and a blackish brown as well.
I really like the effect this gives me, because my lashes look full and long without looking clumpy, it’s also really affordable, around the 10 dollar mark which is great because the tube is a pretty good size.

Every day mascara #2
benefit bad gal mascara
I’m sure you’ve all heard of this mascara, it’s probably one of benefits top selling products and I totally agree that it should be! it has a really big wand, which allows for optimal lash grabbing without having to use too many coats to achieve the look you’re going for. I like to use this when i’m going for a little bit less eye shadow, so my lashes are sort of the focus of my face because this mascara allows for a little bit of drama without too much volume, and I believe it’s about 26 dollars, so a little bit on the pricier side but I think it’s absolutely worth it. It comes in black and I believe it comes in a burgundy colour as well, and I don’t think it’s waterproof, or at least the one I have isn’t.

Volumizing mascara #1
maybelline the falsies mascara
I use the newest edition of this mascara which comes double sided, one side for the upper lashes and one side for the bottom lashes which comes with a smaller wand, and I’ve been loving using it recently.
since we’re getting into the colder months here in Canada I’m finding I really like going for a more smoky and sexy look with my makeup and the falsies makes my lashes look amazing to compliment whatever eye shadow look Im going for, and I think it’s about 10 dollars as well. It comes in a few different colours and waterproof or not waterproof, depends on your preference, I use the black waterproof one.
I do find sometimes it can be a little clumpy so I always make sure I don’t have ANY left-over mascara on from the day before and I always curl my lashes beforehand because I don’t often wear actual false lashes. I like to use this on days I’m feeling like I want to look a little more glamorous! And I can definitely seeing myself using this a lot more as we’re getting into the holiday season what with parties and fancy dinners and things (I also just feel that the holidays are a time where you can look glamorous whenever you want)

Volumizing mascara #2
Clinique high impact extreme volume mascara
The name is very long but also verrrry accurate. This is probably the most volumizing/dramatic mascara that I own and I absolutely love it. It gives my lashes an intense and full look without looking like I put on the whole bottle. It doesn’t flake or have any drop down if I’m wearing it on a night out or if I’m going dancing with my girlfriends, it stays put which is exactly what a girl needs on a night out! The wand is made of a stiff plastic with tons of tiny little bristles, and I find I only need to put on a couple of coats of this on my top and bottom lashes to achieve the effect I want. I believe it costs about 23 dollars, but it comes in a very large tube, I’ve had mine about 6 months and it still hasn’t dried out or anything so I think it was a good investment to make. It only comes in one colour and it’s not waterproof so it’s super easy to get off at the end of the day/night which is a bonus, because there’s nothing worse than rubbing your eyes for 10 minutes to get your mascara off!

These are my top 4 mascaras for every day or for volume, I would love to hear some of your favourites so leave a comment and let me know! I hope this helped you guys if you’re looking for a new mascara or you just wanted a little pick me up for your lashes.
Until next time
