Blogmas day 8! – Chocolate covered peanut butter balls!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope your Monday has been treating you all well! I spent mine doing a few things around the house and then I made some delicious treats, which I’m really excited to share with you guys!
But first, the advent calendar haul of the day as always.

Let’s be honest, besides the obvious joy of spending the holidays with family and friends the best part of the Christmas season are all the treats! I love getting to try all the sweets and baking that people do, and even hold my own Christmas cookie decorating party! (There will definitely be a post on that)

I love peanut butter, and as a kid a one of my friend’s mom used to make these incredible chocolate covered peanut butter balls, but only around the holidays. So, while I was paroozing pinterest I stumbled upon a recipe for them and almost screamed with joy! I decided I absolutely had to make them to share with my family and fellow peanut butter lovers.
I’ve linked the recipe for them above, so if you’re feeling like a sweet treat you could make them too! They don’t take long to make at all, and it would be something fun to do with your siblings or children because it can get a little messy!

Of course step 1 is to get all your ingredients in order!

Adding icing sugar to dry out the mix and add a little sweetness


My favourite step is adding the rice krispies because these really take the peanut butter balls to another dimension

Form your mixture into 1 inch (ish) balls and put them in the fridge to chill a bit

While you’re waiting for the peanut butter balls the set you can melt your chocolate, I chose to use a double broiler but you could just do it in the microwave. Make sure to stir the chocolate so it doesn’t burn!
* the recipe says to add shortening to your chocolate, I personally left that out because I didn’t think it was necessary.
You can also use whatever kind of chocolate you prefer, I used a mix of milk and semi-sweet

Once your chocolate’s melted it’s time to start dipping! I used a wooden skewer to roll the peanut butter balls in the chocolate, but if you have a better method you can use that too!

Have fun with it, make a mess!
The recipe has a white chocolate drizzle on top of them but I just opted for some Christmas sprinkles to make them a bit more festive!
Once you’ve got them all coated in chocolate you need to put them in the fridge until the chocolate hardens!

Once the chocolate is hard you’re good to start enjoying them! They are so delicious, and a big crowd pleaser.
They keep best in the fridge because then you don’t have to worry about them melting, or you can serve a big plate of them and I promise they’ll all be gone!
** always make sure you’re conscious of people’s allergies before serving these, just in case!

Now I’m going to be curling up on the couch and trying not to eat all of these while I watch the Christmas movie of the day!
The family stone is a great portrayal of the dynamic of a family during the Holidays! it’ll make you laugh and cry, it’s just a great movie.
