All Drugstore Make-up Look

Hello beautiful people!
Today I thought I’d share an all drug store make-up look with you! Sometimes it can be hard to find good quality products at the drugstore, especially eye shadows, so it took me a while to collect products I was happy with.
In the end though, I was really impressed with all the products I used and will definitely continue using them, but since I hadn’t used some of these before, this will be a bit of a review as well!

Products used:
Maybelline dream wonder liquid touch foundation in the shade 10 porcelain ivory
DSCN1393

Rimmel match perfection concealer in the shade 125 fair
DSCN1400

Maybelline new York define-a-brow in the shade medium brown
DSCN1394DSCN1395DSCN1396

This brow pencil was too dark for me, but once I blended it out with a spooly it was fine. The brush that comes with this product is totally useless, but the pencil itself is nice and waxy and easy to use!

Revlon Bold lacquer mascara
DSCN1402

Rimmel eye shadow quad in the shade 019 Sun Safari
DSCN1390DSCN1406

I used all 4 of these shades to create a nice bronze but natural look, and I used the palest shade to highlight my cheek bones as well. These shadows are surprisingly buttery and they blend together beautifully, and the pigmentation is better than I expected. I did notice that I was going back to pack more product onto my brush than I normally would, but I was still impressed with the pay off, and it lasted all night.

Revlon colourburst lacquer balm in the shade 130 tease
DSCN1404DSCN1405
This is by far my favourite product of the bunch, it’s an orangey red colour that created the most gorgeous and subtle bold lip. It has a nice texture, it’s thicker than a balm and it stays in place quite well, I only had to re-apply after eating. This stuff smells like mint and the pigmentation is really nice, you can build it up to be quite a glossy bold lip, or blend it in with your finger for a more subtle look, which is what I did.

Rimmel stay matte powder
DSCN1403

Rimmel natural bronzer in the shade 022 sun bronze
DSCN1392

This is a matte bronzer which I used to contour and bronze up my face, it has great colour pay off and blends out really well. It says it’s waterproof on the packaging, which I’m not too sure about, but aside from that I don’t have a bad thing to say about this, it’s a great bronzer.

Rimmel stay blushed liquid cheek tint in the shade 001 pop of pink
DSCN1397DSCN1398DSCN1399

I really like this stuff! It comes out in sort of a mousse, and then you blend it onto your cheek using a brush or your fingers, and it gives a really beautiful and natural flush of colour to your cheeks. You also need a tiny amount, so this little tube will last me ages.

As you can see a lot of these products are Rimmel, I just think you get the best quality for your money with Rimmel as opposed to other brands.
Let me know in the comments what your favourite drugstore brand is!

Like I said I was super impressed with all these products and would definitely recommend giving them a try if you haven’t already. I don’t think I spent over $10 dollars on anything except maybe the foundation, which is pretty good considering the quality of these babies.

Until next time my loves,
xoxo

Birthday outfit and make-up look!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you all had a wonderful week!
As some of you may know from my previous post last Saturday (July 26th) was my 23rd birthday! It was a really incredible weekend full of family and friends and definitely made me appreciate the amazing people that I have in my life. Saturday night I went out to a pub here in Toronto called Paupers with a few friends and had some drinks and food and a lot of laughs! I thought I’d do a post about the outfit I wore and the make-up I used!

Unfortunately in all my excitement with it being my birthday and all I completely forgot to get someone to take a photo of just me and my outfit! (I know, so bad I’m sorry!) So I just have this one of me and Carmen, but I took a photo of everything all laid out for you guys so you could see them a little more closely as well.
photo 1 (1)

I wore a peplum top from Anthropologie which I got on sale for $30! I love this top because it’s a soft fabric and the bottom is scalloped which I think is really cute and feminine, I also love that it has a little peep hole in the back adding a little bit of sexiness to the top. Again so sorry I didn’t take better photos of me in the clothes!
DSCN0300
DSCN0301

I wore dark skinny jeans from American Eagle ($49.99) which are super comfortable and also super flattering
and finally I wore blue Jeffery Campbell heels which I bought on sale last summer but I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for them. I love these shoes, they’re not so high that I’m going to snap an ankle but they’re high enough that I still feel flirty and cute when I wear them and I adore the fact that they’re blue.
My purse is just a brown little bag I bought from ALDO a million years ago; I wanted to use this because it actually zips up and also because it’s small and easy to carry around. I know it doesn’t match my outfit but it’s also the kind of bag I can toss around and not be worried because it’s so old and well loved.

For make-up I really wanted to do something a little bit smokey but with some colour so I used my brand new Naked 3 palette which I bought myself as an early birthday gift (woops) I used a lot of the colours, really building them up and creating the look I really wanted to achieve and I was super happy with how it came out.

May Favourites!

Hello beautiful people! I know I said this in my last favourites post but I really cannot believe how quickly the months are going by!!
I have a few new and revisited favourites to share with you guys so I’ll just dive right into it

First up is the Sleek face contouring kit in the colour light. I’ve talked about this in a previous post but I recently re-discovered it and I absolutely love this duo! The bronzer is a matte brown that has great colour pay off, since I’m super pale I use a duo-fibre brush to pick up less product, but it is totally buildable and gives you a gorgeous bronzed effect. Sometimes I’ll contour with this or I’ll just bronze up my face for a sun kissed look. The highlighter it comes with is a nude colour that gives the most amazing glow on the cheek bones, down the nose, in the cupid’s bow wherever you want to highlight. It’s not an overly dramatic highlighter but like the bronzer it’s definitely buildable to create a really dewy and glowing effect or you can use a small amount and get a nice natural radiance. This duo is also ridiculously cheap ($9.99), we don’t have sleek in Canada so when I went to order this and a few other things off their website a few months ago I couldn’t believe the prices! If you’ve never checked out their stuff I would highly recommend giving it a little look because their products are incredible.
DSCN0212DSCN0213
** Sorry you can’t really see the highlighter!

Next is the Hourglass ambient lighting blush in the colour luminous flush. This is a pretty deep pink, don’t be fooled by the way it looks in the pot, the pigmentation on these things is hard core! I literally tap my brush into it and apply it because that’s all you need. The formulation is wonderful; it feels really silky and buttery and gives you a gorgeous flush to your cheeks, it’s all I’ve been wearing in May. The name is actually the perfect explanation of what it looks like on the skin. These are pretty pricey at $41.00 but if you’re looking for a luxurious blush than I would say this is definitely a good one to be checking out!
DSCN0209DSCN0210

I love my Naked 2 palette, it’s definitely a go-to for me but sometimes, and I’m ashamed to say this, I neglect some of the colours in it. But NO MORE! I discovered the shade Chopper in the month of May and learned to never take a palette for granted again, because even though something doesn’t look nice in the pot does not mean it won’t look divine on your eye lids. This eye shadow has been all I’ve wanted to wear this month; it’s a beautiful copper-toned colour with shimmer and glitter. The glitter isn’t big and is really hardly noticeable, but the colour is just so summery and lovely and I personally think it suits my skin tone wonderfully. So I sincerely apologize to Chopper and promise to never forget you again! If you own this palette (or don’t) I would suggest try it out or going into the store to swatch the whole palette because it’s just the best.
DSCN0214DSCN0215

Last beauty product is the Maybelline pumped up colossal volum’express mascara ( Jeez their mascaras have long names) This recently hit the stores and I have to say I’m really impressed. I’m already a fan of Maybelline’s mascaras in general but I really liked this one because the brush is HUGE which I love, and the formulation is nice and the price is right ($7.99). It’s super black and creates volume without clumping and in only a few coats. I do find I get some flaking but I’ve lost all hope in finding a mascara that doesn’t flake. I think it might be because I wear glasses, and maybe my lashes are hitting my frames… hm.. do any of you wear glasses and find you have this problem? Let me know in the comments.
DSCN0211

I think I’m a little late to the game on this favourite but I’m not sorry that I picked it up at all and it’s the novel The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. My friends have been telling me to read this, especially because the film is coming out, but I was all like “mehhh.. it’s probably not worth the hype” well that was foolish of me because this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I won’t give anything away in case some of you want to read it/see the film but I will say that I laughed out loud, I sobbed like a baby, I honestly gained a whole new perspective on terminal illness and how it can affect people (teenagers in this case) and how they can handle it with wit, a sense of humour and grace. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read it and what you thought! I really can’t wait to see the film and would 100% recommend reading the book first because in my experience the book is always better.

March Favourites!

Hello Beautiful people! I can’t believe it’s already April! I have to say I’m super excited for the lovely spring weather to finally make its way here to Toronto and in light of that a lot of my favourites this month are quite springy.

First up is The Face Shop blush in the colour 05 peach cushion. First of all it has the CUTEST packaging I’ve ever seen, I love using the little puff ball to apply it because it makes me feel so feminine and lovely. Also, the pigmentation is great! It’s a matte peachy coral colour that I think really compliments my skin tone and I didn’t have a blush this colour so I was very excited to pick this one up, not to mention it’s 9$!
DSCN0130

Next is the Benefit girl meets pearl highlighter, it’s a liquid formulation that’s a champagne beige colour and it leaves the most gorgeous effect on the cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow wherever you like to highlight. It doesn’t create a dramatic radiance just a really lovely glow to the skin which I’ve been absolutely loving since the weather has been getting relatively nice here in TO. It is quite expensive at $36 but it comes in the kind of packaging where you twist the bottom and the product comes out the top so it’s really easy to control how much comes out, and also you really don’t need a lot at all so it’ll last quite a while.
DSCN0131DSCN0132

I went to a Sephora VIB rouge event and picked up the Marc Jacobs limited edition matte lip gel in the colour pout, it’s a peachy nude colour and has a creamy and hydrating formulation. The woman at the store tried it on me and put a pink toned gloss over top and I absolutely fell in love and just had to have it. The lipstick was $36 and I ended up picking a different gloss that was less expensive, but I definitely think it’s going to be my staple everyday lipstick for spring time!
DSCN0133DSCN0134

The gloss I ended up purchasing was one of the new Urban Decay naked ultra-nourishing glosses in the colour walk of shame. It’s a pinky nude toned gloss with a TINY bit of shimmer that pairs beautifully with the Marc Jacobs lipstick and also looks gorgeous on its own. It smells a little bit minty and is a nice consistency, it’s not sticky at all but it’s slightly thick so you know It’s not going to be running all over your face. It retails for $24 dollars and they have a beautiful range of colours, I will definitely be picking up more of these glosses.
DSCN0125DSCN0129

Last is the Maybelline baby skin instant pore eraser, now this is definitely not a new product in the beauty blogging world but it is new to me and I really like it. It’s a clear balm with a really velvety feel, my foundation applies beautifully over top of it and it really does minimize the look of my pores. It’s a great alternative to benefit’s the porefessional as the baby skin one is about $6.
DSCN0127DSCN0128

So those are all of the products I was loving in March and I’m sure I will continue loving throughout spring and summer! Let me know what some of your March Favourites were in the comments and don’t forget to hit the like&follow buttons because that always makes my day.
until next time, xoxo

2013 Drug store beauty favourites!

Hello Beautiful people! and Happy New Year! I cannot believe that it is 2014,that’s just crazy, where did 2013 go?
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family and friends and lots of delicious food, and I hope you all brought in the new year safely!
To look back on 2013 some of my favourite memories are definitely graduating college (woo!) and going to the Bahamas with my boyfriend 🙂
I had a lot of favourite beauty products in 2013 and most of them were drug store so I decided to make this post all about those.

2 foundations really stood out to me in 2013 and they were the Revlon nearly naked foundation and the Revlon colour stay foundation. They both have medium to full coverage but they aren’t at all heavy. The nearly naked has a bit more of a radiant, dewy finish where the colour stay is slightly more matte. I’m very fair, and often have a hard time finding foundations that are my colour (especially drug store foundations) but I find both of these to be a perfect match. They glide on so nicely and last all day long, I did find I had to powder the nearly naked throughout the day but I have combination skin so that was just due to my own oiliness. Both foundations are under 25$ which is a little bit expensive but I would compare these to a high end product because they preform so well. DSCN0026
The next product is by Maybelline and it’s the fit me concealer. I purchased this in November just to keep in my purse in case I needed it, and it ended up becoming a staple in my everyday make up routine. It has a very creamy consistency with fabulous coverage, and minimal creasing, I believe it was around 15$ and it is absolutely worth the money because you don’t need a lot of it. It comes in a tube which is so handy to keep in my little purse sized make up bag, although I found I didn’t need to retouch throughout the day with this concealer, it just made me feel better to have it. I’m usually not to fussed with the concealer I use but this product just amazed me, and I will definitely be continuing to use it during 2014.
DSCN0032
Next is my last complexion product and it is the rimmel stay matte powder. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and it is still the best powder I’ve ever used. the packaging is a little cheap looking but for the product itself I don’t even care, I apply this after my foundation and concealer to set my make up and keep my t-zone from getting shiny and I stay matte for at least 6 or 7 hours before I need to touch up. I don’t find it breaks me out or clogs my pores at all either, I keep one in my purse and one at home because I love it so much, it is just so effective and it only costs about 5$! such amazing value for the money you’re spending.
DSCN0024
I loved two mascaras through 2013 and they were the Maybelline colossal volume express cat eye mascara (long name!) and the bourjois volumizer mascara. I loved these because they achieved two different things for me, the Maybelline mascara was gorgeous for everyday, it separated my lashes and coated them evenly making them look full and healthy, where as the bourjois mascara has two steps, step one is to coat your lashes and step two adds much more mascara making them look voluminous. I used bourjois mostly when I was going out or wearing a smoky eye and wanted to go for more dramatic lashes without wearing fake ones. the colossal cat eye mascara runs for about 10$ but you can always find it on sale and the bourjois mascara was 20$ but totally worth it. these were and still are a big part of my make up routine, and Im so happy to have found them in 2013.
DSCN0027DSCN0030
I have two lipsticks that did not leave my handbag during 2013 and they were Kate Moss Rimmel London velvet matte lipstick in the colour 109, and Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle. The Kate Moss lipstick is a pastel pinky-orange colour which was great for spring/summer and I loved wearing it with a really natural eye. I actually have about 8 of the Kate Moss lipsticks and the whole line in general is great! and they cost around 8$! they are very highly pigmented, and they go on silky smooth, the original formula is surprisingly hydrating. I do find I need to use a chap stick under the matte ones, but generally matte lipsticks make my lips dry. DSCN0036DSCN0037
The Revlon lip butter was gorgeous for fall/winter because it has the hydration of a balm and the buildable pigment of a lipstick, I love this product because its so versatile, it’s a pinky brown neutral colour which was great for everyday. If I was going for a natural lip, a would apply it and then rub it in with my finger to make it like a stain, if I was going for a more intense and glossy look I just applied it in a few layers and build it up. I only have the colour Pink Truffle but I’m definitely going to be getting more, as they cost under 10$.DSCN0034DSCN0035
My final love of 2013 is a hair product and it is the Herbal Essences Split end protector. I adore this because I put one pump into wet hair and it acts as a leave in conditioner as well as protecting my hair from heat and tools, I believe it costs about 8$ but I’ve only ever been able to find it at the grocery store which is so odd. It also lasts a very long time as you only need one pump, I’ve been using this for 2 years and I’ve only had 2 bottles. I use this every time I wash my hair, despite whether or not I’m going to be styling it. I absolutely notice my hair is frizzier, and nowhere near as soft on days I don’t use this, and since it doubles as a heat protectant it saves me having to load my hair full of product.
DSCN0038
I’ve actually written more in depth posts on the kate moss lipsticks and the herbal essences hair product, so you can just scroll down to read those if you’d like!
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope these reviews were helpful and maybe gave you some new beauty curiosities for 2014!
until next time

My favourite mascaras

Hello beautiful people!
I was talking with my friend Nicole a couple of weeks ago about make-up and she went through my mascara collection and asked which ones I liked the best, and that made me think that I should write a blog post about my favourite mascaras! So I’m going to give you guys my review on my top 4 favourites, 2 for volume and 2 for every day.
I’m sort of doing it so that there’s a drug store brand for each and a higher end mascara for both as well.
alright lets get this party started

every day mascara #1
Revlon-Lash-Potion-Mascara
Revlon lash potion mascara
I love this mascara for every day use because it’s not overly dramatic but still makes your lashes look fantastic. It has a really cool brush which is shaped a bit like a star/triangle, that has longer and shorter bristles which allows every single one of your lashes to be coated as you jiggle and turn the wand. I have the colour black and in waterproof, which I find is really nice with my eye colour/skin tone, but I believe they make a darker one and a blackish brown as well.
I really like the effect this gives me, because my lashes look full and long without looking clumpy, it’s also really affordable, around the 10 dollar mark which is great because the tube is a pretty good size.

Every day mascara #2
badgal-lash-nobox_476x357
benefit bad gal mascara
I’m sure you’ve all heard of this mascara, it’s probably one of benefits top selling products and I totally agree that it should be! it has a really big wand, which allows for optimal lash grabbing without having to use too many coats to achieve the look you’re going for. I like to use this when i’m going for a little bit less eye shadow, so my lashes are sort of the focus of my face because this mascara allows for a little bit of drama without too much volume, and I believe it’s about 26 dollars, so a little bit on the pricier side but I think it’s absolutely worth it. It comes in black and I believe it comes in a burgundy colour as well, and I don’t think it’s waterproof, or at least the one I have isn’t.

Volumizing mascara #1
MAYBEL~1
maybelline the falsies mascara
I use the newest edition of this mascara which comes double sided, one side for the upper lashes and one side for the bottom lashes which comes with a smaller wand, and I’ve been loving using it recently.
since we’re getting into the colder months here in Canada I’m finding I really like going for a more smoky and sexy look with my makeup and the falsies makes my lashes look amazing to compliment whatever eye shadow look Im going for, and I think it’s about 10 dollars as well. It comes in a few different colours and waterproof or not waterproof, depends on your preference, I use the black waterproof one.
I do find sometimes it can be a little clumpy so I always make sure I don’t have ANY left-over mascara on from the day before and I always curl my lashes beforehand because I don’t often wear actual false lashes. I like to use this on days I’m feeling like I want to look a little more glamorous! And I can definitely seeing myself using this a lot more as we’re getting into the holiday season what with parties and fancy dinners and things (I also just feel that the holidays are a time where you can look glamorous whenever you want)

Volumizing mascara #2
8104408_fpx
Clinique high impact extreme volume mascara
The name is very long but also verrrry accurate. This is probably the most volumizing/dramatic mascara that I own and I absolutely love it. It gives my lashes an intense and full look without looking like I put on the whole bottle. It doesn’t flake or have any drop down if I’m wearing it on a night out or if I’m going dancing with my girlfriends, it stays put which is exactly what a girl needs on a night out! The wand is made of a stiff plastic with tons of tiny little bristles, and I find I only need to put on a couple of coats of this on my top and bottom lashes to achieve the effect I want. I believe it costs about 23 dollars, but it comes in a very large tube, I’ve had mine about 6 months and it still hasn’t dried out or anything so I think it was a good investment to make. It only comes in one colour and it’s not waterproof so it’s super easy to get off at the end of the day/night which is a bonus, because there’s nothing worse than rubbing your eyes for 10 minutes to get your mascara off!

These are my top 4 mascaras for every day or for volume, I would love to hear some of your favourites so leave a comment and let me know! I hope this helped you guys if you’re looking for a new mascara or you just wanted a little pick me up for your lashes.
Until next time
