Make up Anti-Haul

Hello beautiful people, I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the wonderful weather now that spring has finally sprung!

I noticed recently that some of my favourite YouTuber’s have been doing Make up Anti-Hauls (if you’re thinking Lo, what the heck is that?) allow me to explain. Basically an Anti-haul is where you talk about make up you AREN’T(that’s right) going to purchase and the reasons why, and lately there have been some launches that I just wasn’t interested in, so I thought this was the perfect time to write my first Anti-Haul post!

  • just a little disclaimer, these are just my reasons and opinions for not purchasing these products, if you love them and the work for you that’s amazing, these just aren’t my cup of tea. xx

make believe in yourself

First up we have the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself eyes and cheeks palette $52.00 CAD. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very pretty palette, I am very drawn to a couple of the shades, but for $52.00 I could buy a palette that has all the colours I love with a mix of shimmers and mattes. The formulation of this looks very sparkly, and there’s only 1 matte shade, so I feel like I would need to be using this along side some of my other shadows, which also makes me think this isn’t very travel friendly. I haven’t swatched this myself, but some of the reviews I’ve read mention that there’s quite a bit of fall out with this palette as well (something to think about) I just can’t see myself reaching for this, which is why I’m going to pass on this guy.

prismatic amethyst

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in prismatic Amethyst $46.00 CAD. People in the beauty community have been going nutso for this little guy, and to be honest, I’m just not into it. I LOVE the Becca shimmering Skin perfector’s, moonstone is a holy grail, but with this particular shade, I just can’t imagine where I would ever wear it. I know there are lots of ways I could use this, like as an eye shadow topper or a lip topper, but in my day to day that’s just not my style. I know the formulation of this is flawless, and the packaging is super cute, it’s just another one that I can’t see myself using.

natural love palette

Too Faced Natural Love Palette $69.00 CAD – I’m not going to lie, I want this – BUT I do not need another neutral palette in my life at the moment. This looks like a dream come true, not only because I love Too Faced as a brand, or because the packaging is heavenly, but because it has 30 gorgeous shades in it. I think the price is not bad for the number of shadow’s you’re getting, and the pan size looks decent, but again I do not need to spend the money on another neutral palette… I will say though… my birthday is in July.. for any of my close friends/family members reading this 🙂

too faced highlighters

Last up are the Too Faced Love Light highlighter $38.00 CAD again,I wanted these – look at the embossing on them!! and the packaging is absolutely adorable. unfortunately, when I went into the store to look at them, there just wasn’t a shade that I thought suited my skin tone. The palest one is very cool toned and frosty, the gold is very gold and the champagne is a little too pink, none of them were the perfect fit. The formulation is gorgeous and silky, and will give you an incredible glow! I just decided to pass on these, which took a lot of will power.

Let me know in the comments if there are any items you’ve passed up on recently!

That’s all for now my loves,

until next time, xoxo

Product’s I’m loving at the moment!

Hello beautiful people!

I am so sorry that it has been so long since I’ve written a new post, but if I’m being completely honest, I just sort of lost the motivation to blog. I’m sure this happens to a lot of us, and I’m happy that I took the time for myself to find my drive to blog again!

For my first post back, I thought I’d like to share all the products I haven’t been able to stop reaching for over the last couple of months!

First up is the Tartelette In Bloom Palette ($54.00 CAD)

dscn3662

This palette is absolutely divine. I wasn’t drawn to the original all Matte Tartelette Palette, but when they brought this baby out, I couldn’t resist.
You get 12 Shadows, 9 are matte and 3 are shimmery, with quite large pans which makes the value seem better. The formulation on both kinds of shadows is so buttery and velvety, it feels like you’re touching silk. These blend out with almost no effort, and the variety of gorgeous warm toned shades allows you to create any kind of look you could want.
My sister and I were in Europe for 3 weeks this summer, and this is the only eye shadow palette I took with me! I was able to do really fast and easy looks in 5 minutes for day time, and create really beautiful smokey eyes if I had a little bit more time in the evening – this literally does it all.
( The swatches look slightly patchy, but trust me they aren’t! I had just moisturized my arms lol )

dscn3670

Next is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection face palette ($59.00 CAD)

dscn3637dscn3639

I don’t think I have ever been more excited about a face palette than I was to get my hands on this. This comes with 2 blushes, a bronzer and 2 highlighters, and each and every one of them is like a dream in a pan.
Becca makes my favourite highlighters, so when I saw this I knew instantly I would love it, and I was not disappointed. the blushes are SO pigmented, you literally need one dab of your brush in the product and it’s enough for both cheeks.
The shimmery pink on the left reminds me a lot of NARS orgasm with it’s beautiful gold shimmer running through. The matte pink is beautiful for summer time, when you want a really pretty flush to the cheeks. to be honest, the bronzer is a little dark for my ghostly complexion, but I have used it as a blush (using an extremely light hand) and thought it looked really lovely.
THE HIGHLIGHTERS THOUGH – You get champagne pop! in here, which I’ve raved about before, which just adds the most amazing peachy glow to the high points of the face.
but Prosecco Pop, my goodness, is the most stunning pale gold highlight I have ever seen. Whenever I wear this, I get compliments on my skin, it may be my new favourite highlighter of all time. They need to bring prosecco pop out on its own, because it’s that incredible.
You could also use this palette for the eyes if you wanted, so if you were traveling this is literally all you would need!

being the vampire that I am, I literally have no eyebrows because my hairs are so pale, so I started getting them tinted at the Sephora Brow Bar (makes a huge difference) After one of my services, the lovely girl used their new Ka-Brow  cream gel eyebrow colour ($30.00 CAD) on me, and I instantly fell in love.

dscn3653dscn3655

If you’ve been following Laauraborealis for a while, you know I swore by Anastasia Dip Brow to create something from nothing for my brows, but this baby has definitely taken the MVP spot!
The lid of the product actually comes with a brush built into it, so you don’t need to fuss with your own angled brush which I really like, and the product itself has the coolest formulation. Dip brow is a pomade, so it feels quite thick and sticky, but this stuff is a gel/powder formula, so it goes on almost like a soft gel, dries down quickly to a powder and literally doesn’t budge all day! This is another product I took to Europe with me, and it withstood the sweaty French Sun everyday for a week. Literally, the rest of my make up would melt off, and my brows would still be perfect.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy (£2.00 GBP)

dscn3652

I picked this up from Boots while we were in London and I wish I had bought 5 more since we can’t get it in Canada. This keeps my lips hydrated for HOURS! I put this on before bed, and I wake up with lovely soft lips. It smells delicious, and just works wonders. This is definitely going to be in my purse throughout the cold winter months.

Tanya Burr Matte Nail polish in Soft Pyjamas (£4.99 GBP)

dscn3644

Something else I picked up in Boots while we were in London was this lovely nail polish by my all time favourite Youtuber (something we also don’t get here in Canada, and feelunique.com wont ship nail polish over seas). I have a few other shades that aren’t matte, but this one stood out the most to me. The formula dries down super quick, and even without a top coat this polish goes DAYS without chipping. Soft Pyjamas is a beautiful taupey-grey-violet colour that’s just perfect for fall/winter, Im definitely going to be wearing this a lot in the coming months. If you live in the UK and can get your hands on these easily, I would highly suggest giving them a try!

L’oreal Glam Bronze ($10.99 CAD)

dscn3646
dscn3647dscn3650

I have been using this non-stop (as you can see I’ve already hit pan). This bronzer gives the most gorgeous and natural warmth to the skin! the formula is super silky and blends onto your face/neck/chest like a dream. It is shimmery, but not like chunky glitter, it’s the prettiest natural shimmer that just makes your skin look radiant and healthy.
This is another product where I got so many compliments on my skin.
Being very pale, I was worried this would come off slightly orange, but it doesn’t at all, it’s that perfect sort of muddy brown you want in a natural bronzer.
Also just a shout out to the pan size, this thing is massive! well worth the price. I seriously hope this wasn’t limited edition for summer.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise cream shadow in Jean ($36.00 CAD)

dscn3656

dscn3658

Holy moly, Charlotte Tilbury is a goddess. This is the best cream shadow I have ever used! It’s a beautiful champagne shade that can be worn on it’s own, or with shadow layered over top – this is probably the most universal shade, which would look stunning on any skin tone.
These are super pigmented, and a little goes a LONG way because the formula is almost whipped as opposed to other cream shadows that are quite hard.
If you wear this on it’s own, it dries down and doesn’t move at all, and if you layer shadow on top, you can bet that isn’t budging all day/night long.
You get 7ml of product, which will last you a very long time, just make sure you shut the lid tight, because this is quite expensive and you don’t want this magic drying out.

Last up is the Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express Mascara ($7.99 CAD)

dscn3659

Again, if you’ve been following my blog for a while you know CoverGirl Full lash bloom mascara has been my go-to from the drug store, but as all make up addicts do, I got an itch to try out a new product.
This is a really lovely mascara, the wand is plastic which I’m usually not a fan of, but it’s not too sharp, so I’ve managed not to stab myself in the eye with it (yet).
Despite the fact that I didn’t buy the waterproof formula, this baby acts like a waterproof mascara. This literally doesn’t flake, print onto my top lid or underneath the bottom lashes, it’s just awesome. It gives my lashes a really beautiful amount of volume without being too clumpy or spidery, and it doesn’t dry hard or crunchy like some intense mascaras can.
The only thing is, since the formula is so strong, it is quite difficult to remove. I have to use a waterproof eye make up remover, even though this isn’t technically a waterproof mascara.

That’s all for now my loves, but don’t worry, I wont wait so long to post again.

Until next time,

xoxo

March 2016 Favourites!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend and no one has pranked you too hard today!

It’s time for another monthly favourites post! I haven’t written one of these in ages, so I have quite a few beauty/skincare/random favourites to share.

I’ll start with skincare as I’ve really been having quite a difficult time with my skin this winter. I don’t know if it’s because of the weather, or that I’m getting older or what but it’s really been getting me down! I’ve had a lot of annoying breakouts, some random redness and lots of little dry patches, which makes all my foundations look awful on my skin. Finally in the passed couple of months I’ve found a few products that seem to helping the situation!

The Clinique take the day off cleansing balm ($36CAD) is what I’ve been using as step one in my skin care routine lately, and I’ve really been loving it (as you can see by the crater I’ve dug out of the middle). It’s the consistency of wax, but when you rub it in your palms, it kind of warms up and melts to turn into this really nourishing oil that melts away all your make up!
I like to massage this onto my skin for about a minute to make sure I’m really getting all that make up off, and then I’ll wet my hands and it kind of emulsifies into this lovely milk, which then cleanses the skin without stripping it at all. I love my micellar waters, but can find them to be a bit drying, so this has been working wonders for me as it doesn’t dry out my skin at all! a little goes a long way as well, so this tub should last me another 3 months or so!

Another skin care saviour I’ve been loving is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant ($74CAD). This is quite pricey, but may very well be the nicest thing in my skin care collection. As you can see from the photo (which looks slightly like drugs) it comes in a powder form, which you then add water too and create this lovely and gentle exfoliant that you can use every day. I’ve been using this at night after my cleansing balm to help get rid of any debris, dry skin or extra make up, and let me tell you my skin feels incredible! This is formulated with rice protein which helps to get rid of dead skin and promote cell turn over for a more radiant and smooth complexion!
This is also a bit of a 3-in-1 product, the girl at the store told me you can add a lot of water for a more gentle exfoliant to brighten the skin and gently cleanse, or you can use a little bit of water for a rougher more physical exfoliant 3 times a week, or you can add a little bit of water and leave it on as a 5 minute mini mask! If you ask me, I think for that many options it’s well worth the price.

Last but not least in my skin care favourites is the Kiehl’s Hydro-plumping re-texturizing skin serum concentrate ($60CAD). This serum literally feels like you’re rubbing water into your skin, it’s so light but so hydrating at the same time. Usually things that hydrate feel really thick and sticky on the skin, but this just sinks right in and gives my skin the drink of water it’s really been needing, and I’ve definitely noticed less dry spots on my face. This stuff is also meant to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but I’ve only been using it about 2 weeks so I’ll have to see about that!

On to make up favourites!

This is a fairly new purchase for me, but I absolutely love it. The By Terry touch expert advanced ultra-radiance active concealer ($59CAD) in the shade 1 is the absolute perfect concealer for getting rid of dark circles. This is very expensive, but Toronto just got Saks Fifth Ave, and they had a By Terry counter and I just couldn’t resist (sorry not sorry). I got this kind of bisque shade because I wanted a little extra something to cover up my dark circles, and this literally makes them disappear – if I’m being honest, my under eye circles are not that bad, but this stuff just makes them non-existent and makes me feel super awake and fresh! It has similar packaging to the YSL Touche Eclat pen with the little pump on the bottom that forces the product up and into the brush, which I think is really classy and lovely. The product itself smells really fresh and clean, and blends into the skin like a dream! A little goes a long way with this stuff as well so you can get your moneys worth!

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Tartelette palette, but when I saw the new Tartelette In Bloom palette ($54CAD) I absolutely had to have it! The shades in this are a mix of shimmer, glitter and mattes, with nice warm neutral shades. I was really feeling the matte shades in this palette throughout March, I’m not usually one to wear an all matte look, but the formulation of these shadows just blends like butter so they look really soft and lovely on the lid. If you’re looking for a new palette I would definitely suggest giving this baby try!

Last but not least is the Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick in the shade Bow n Arrow ($24CAD). I wore this non-stop in March, it’s just the perfect bold lip to transition into spring without being too red or berry toned. It dries down to this beautiful ashy, burnt rose colour which I absolutely adore! It lasts all day long, through eating and drinking, and it doesn’t dry out your lips at all! If you haven’t given her liquid lipsticks a try I would highly recommend any of the shades because the formula is spot on!

My final March favourite is actually a TV show that I literally binge watched through February and March because I just couldn’t get enough! Parks and Rec is probably one of the funniest TV shows I’ve watched in a long time, it stars Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Aziz Ansari and a bunch of other amazing actors/actresses who just work so well together. It’s about a group of people who work in the Parks Department in this tiny town in Indiana and it just catalogues their day to day activities, which sounds boring but is actually amazing! If you watched the office, or are a fan of any of the actors I mentioned I think you could get into Parks and Rec!

That’s it for now my loves!
Until next time,
xoxo

Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation Review

Hello beautiful people!
Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.

I was paroozing my local drug store a couple of weeks ago, when I came across a Maybelline display with their new Dream Velvet Soft-matte hydrating foundation ($12.99CAD).
This really intrigued me because you normally don’t see matte and hydrating together on the same product, so I figured I’d better give it a whirl!

DSCN2539

I picked up the shade 05 Warm Porcelain (which I believe is the palest one on the collection) and it’s a decent match for me, maybe slightly too dark but as long as I blend it down my neck you can’t tell. The range has a lot of different shades, so if you’re not super pale like me you should be able to find a good match!
This has a surprisingly thick formulation, so you only need a tiny amount for your whole face, and the coverage is a really nice medium to full which can be nice during the winter months while we’re all trying to finish eating our Christmas chocolates! (hopefully it’s not just me!)
Despite it’s thickness, it actually feels really light and fresh on the skin because it’s almost a whipped texture, which allows it to blend beautifully onto your face.
“Soft-Matte” is the perfect description of this foundation, it’s definitely not dewy or glowy at all, but it’s not completely cakey and matte either, it leaves your skin looking natural and healthy without drying it out at all.
The longevity of this stuff is really nice too, I’ve worn it for a full 7-8 hours before without having it break up or rub off, and only having to powder once. I did find that after a really long day (10+ hours) it started to break up in my t-zone a bit, which could be due to my combination skin.
All and all I’ve really been enjoying this baby! If you’ve been thinking of trying this, or you’re just looking for a new base, I would definitely suggest giving this a try!

Until next time my loves,
xoxo

High-End Make Up Start Kit!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you’re enjoying this lovely day, unfortunately I’m stuck at home with a nasty cold 😦
There’s really nothing worse than getting sick in the summer time! Let me know some of the things you guys do to feel better when you’re sick, as soon as this is posted I’m curling up in bed with a large cup of tea and a harry potter movie!

A little while ago I posted a drugstore make-up starter kit, so I figured it was about time I wrote a high-end one!
Now, this post was exceptionally difficult to choose products for, because I love so many things from a lot of different high-end brands, but i did my best, just for you guys. I will say, there are two or three things in each category because I had such a hard time choosing, but they’re all worth it!

Complexion
Foundation:
As I just said, there’s two foundations in this category, but they have very different finishes.
DSCN1902
First, NARS Sheer Glow in the shade Mont Blanc, I love this foundation so much! It’s definitely a full coverage base, but it gives you the most incredible glow without looking sweaty or greasy, your skin just looks healthy and happy. It’s quite long wearing, although I do find that after a few hours I need to powder, but even then it doesn’t look cakey. My only beef with this foundation is that they don’t make a shade pale enough for me, I can only wear this in the summer OR if I have a bit of fake tan on and work it down my neck really well.

Next is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Foundation in the shade 0.5 (because I’m too pale to be a real number)
This foundation is very light weight, but a very good coverage, definitely medium to full. It has quite a liquidy consistency so you definitely have to shake the bottle before pumping some onto the back of your hand or your brush. It has quite a matte finish and is very long lasting, you don’t need a powder with this at all!
DSCN1906
On the left is the Urban Decay foundation and NARS on the right.

Concealer:
DSCN1908
Again, there’s two of these but I personally like to use them for different things.
NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in the shade Chantilly is my favourite concealer for under-eye brightening and concealing. It has quite a thick formulation, but it blends out seamlessly. You don’t get any creasing with this stuff, and the tube lasts a long time since a little goes a long way.

The Benefit Boi-ing concealer in the shade 01 is a good one for blemishes, hyper-pigmentation, anything you really want to cover up but don’t want to be caking full-coverage foundation onto. This stuff is heavy-duty, it covers anything with the tiniest amount and doesn’t budge all day. I find that I use this the most around “that time of the month” when my hormones are really wreaking havoc with my skin.
DSCN1912
On the left is the NARS concealer and Benefit on the right.

I didn’t choose a powder for this post because I don’t see the point in spending money on a high-end powder when the drugstore one’s are awesome anyway.

Bronzer/Contour:
DSCN1915
The Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is something I love using in the winter when I’m at my palest. It adds a really beautiful flush of colour to the skin without being too orange or red, it’s got a good honey tone which is great for warming up the skin. Since it’s matte, I also occasionally like to use this to contour my face slightly, not a strong line but a subtle shadow for days when I don’t feel like wearing too much make-up.

The Charlotte Tillbury Film Star Bronze and Glow is the perfect contour shade, it has just the right amount of grey in it so that it creates a beautiful shadow to slim out the face, despite the fact that it is slightly shimmery. I find this can be a bit too dark to bronze my whole face with, but if I use a really light hand I can get away with it for photos or a night out.

Lastly, the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in the Shade Luminous Bronze Light. This product is incredible for bronzing, it has the classic hourglass ambient powder mixed in with a muddy pigment that allows for the perfect sun kissed look. I get so many compliments when I wear this because it’s so natural looking, it has a buttery texture so it doesn’t drag or skip when it’s applied to the skin. I would recommend this shade especially for people with paler skin.
DSCN1916

Blush:
This was such a hard category for me because I am a blush fiend. I managed to pick two brands that I think are the best of the bunch!
DSCN1920
MAC blushes in general are just incredible, they have a great range of shades, the pigmentation is good and they last all day. Some of my all time favourite blushes are from MAC! The two I photographed here are Cubic, which is a really natural dusty rose shade for days when I’m wearing a bold lip or a smokey eye. The other shade is Springsheen which is a very shimmery, very girly coral pink that I love to wear with gold eye shadow and a natural gloss.

Next are the NARS blushes, I find that NARS has a very unique range of colours, from naturals to bright bright bolds, the finish is good and the pigmentation is outstanding! Literally you need to dab your brush in once per cheek and you’re good to go, I also feel like NARS blushes are a bit more luxurious with the packaging and the velvety feel of the product itself. The two I’ve photographed here are Seduction, which is a deep plum/cranberry shade that adds the most romantic flush to your cheeks. The other is Almeria which was limited edition last Christmas, but its sort of a rusty cranberry shade that I love to wear with a nude lip and big winged liner.
DSCN1921
Left to Right: Cubic, springsheen, Seduction, Almeria

Highlighters:
DSCN1926
The MAC mineralized skin finishes are really beautiful and natural highlighters, sort of a barely there subtle sheen to the skin. You can apply them all over the skin, just the cheek bones and the other high points of your face or really wherever you want.

The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors are quite the opposite, they take “strobbing” to a whole new level. These will give you JLo glow for sure! very finely milled, high shine and pigmentation, I only apply these to the high points of my face and very lightly, but it gives the most incredible glow. I like to use them as eye shadow as well, because otherwise I’ll never hit pan before they go out of date.

Finally the MAC cream colour bases are a great in between, they’re not so subtle you can’t tell they’re on your skin, but they’re not too over the top either. The cream formulation allows for easy blending and a long lasting shine!
DSCN1928
Left to Right: Becca Moonstone, MAC Lightscapade, MAC Shell

Eyes
Shadows:
DSCN1931
As far as palettes go, you really can’t go wrong with the Urban Decay Naked palettes, they have an incredible range of shades to suit everyones preferences and skin tones. The shadows are buttery and blend well, they last all day and there’s enough colours to create any kind of look imaginable ( especially now that they brought out the new smoky palette).

For individual shadows MAC is the cream of the crop. You can pick and choose your own shades to make your own palette, or just buy the little pots if you’re the kind of person who wears the same look every day. They have an incredible range of colours for all the different looks you could want to create, the pigmentation and formulation of all their different finishes is amazing. The first high-end eye shadow I ever bought was MAC All That Glitters and I’ve probably re-purchased it 15 time since then!

Liquid liner:
DSCN1943
I know this is not a shock to anyone, so I won’t ramble. The Kat Von D tattoo liner in Trooper is the best liquid liner in the world, hands down.

Kohl liners:
DSCN1944
MAC makes such lovely pencil liners, they’re soft enough that you can smudge them out on your upper lash line, but they’re also long lasting enough to stay on your water line all day long!
DSCN1947
Left is MAC Coffee, right is MAC Teddy

Mascara:
DSCN1950
I don’t really see the point in paying full price for high-end mascara’s but if I had to pick one it would be the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. This stuff separates and adds length and volume without being too clumpy! It gives the effect of false lashes without having to fuss with real ones, my only beef with this is that it flakes after the first few uses.

Brows:
DSCN1941
Anastasia Dip Brow in Soft Brown is the only brow product I’ve ever found that stays in place and looks natural. You have to be very light handed when applying this, but once you get the hang of it your brows will never have looked better! Not to mention you need to tiniest amount so the pot will last you forever!

Lips
Lipsticks:
DSCN1953
This was also a difficult category to choose for, but again MAC and NARS came out on top.
I don’t think I need to ramble too much about MAC lipsticks because at least every woman I know owns at least one. They are great for every finish, glossy, matte, creamy, bold it doesn’t matter, MAC has your back. Obviously depending on the finish they don’t all have the same wear time, but they all have great shades, finishes and they smell like vanilla which is always a bonus. I do find that some of the matte shades can be quite drying, but that goes with any brand as well.

NARS Audacious lipsticks are a fairly new launch but they quickly climbed the favourites ladder for me. The formulation of these is amazing, it’s creamy and light but not so much that it slides all over your face. The staying power is great, and the range of colours is incredible! Again the packaging of the NARS lipsticks is a lot more sophisticated and luxurious, and they also all have girls names which i think is just adorable.
DSCN1956

Tools
DSCN1957
Last but not least are tools!
I recently discovered the Beauty Blender (late to the party, I know), and I am in love. This little sponge applies any foundation or concealer without it looking too much, it absorbs any excess product which doesn’t allow you to apply too much to your skin. It blends out products like a dream, leaving your skin looking airbrushed with no harsh lines or bunching product.

As far as brushes go you can’t go wrong with MAC or Sephora professional line. all synthetic so they’re easy to clean, and super soft so they won’t aggravate your eyes or skin at all!

That’s it for today my loves, time for Harry Potter and some peppermint tea!

Until next time,

July Favourites 2015!

Hello beautiful people!

It is officially the last day in July, and as I say at the start of every monthly favourites post, I can’t believe how fast the month has gone by!
July is my favourite month in the summer because it’s my birthday month! which means a couple of these favourites were gifts making them quite new to me (My birthday was last Sunday) but favourites nonetheless!
I had a very lovely birthday, I am a very spoiled lady! The people in my life are the most spectacular, thoughtful, and amazing humans in the world, and they have no idea how much I love and appreciate them for being a part of my life.
Anyhoo! on to the good stuff!

My first favourite is actually a pair of shoes!

I bought these gorgeous brown leather wedges from ALDO earlier this month($90), and have been wearing them non-stop. I love the light brown colour of these, because it matches literally everything I own; whether it’s a party dress, jeans or a skirt these babies will go with it! I love the peep toe, and that from the front they almost look like little booties, but then you turn around and the back is like a sandal! these are also incredibly comfortable, and easy to wear, if you’re looking for a good summer wedge I would recommend checking these out.

My next favourite is an oldie but a goodie, I’ve had MAC Mythology eye shadow in my collection for years and I love it, but as with most beauty products, I go through phases where I just kind of forget how fabulous it is until I put it on again. July was one of those times where I applied it and thought “why did I ever stop wearing this!”

This shadow is an incredible bronze/copper shade with flecks of copper glitter in it(but they’re not too noticeable.) It’s the perfect shadow to sweep all over the lid and then wear loads of mascara to add definition to your eyes, or you could totally add something in the crease and a bit of winged liner for a glam look!
I love this colour especially for this time of year because it really brings out the colour of my eyes, and accentuates the tiny bit of a tan that I have on my face. I feel like this eye shadow would look good on any skin tone and with any eye colour though, its just a great one to have in your collection!

You guys may remember a post I wrote a while back on Saje Natural Wellness, well this next favourite is a product that has helped get a better nights sleep for the past month.

Sleep well restful sleep remedy has literally changed the way I sleep, it’s a blend of essential oils that you rub on the bottoms of your feet and your pulse points (wrists, neck) half an hour before you go to sleep, and it helps you have a better nights sleep. it has chamomile, lavender, marjoram and valerian root, which are all very calming and soothing oils. They absorb slowly throughout the night and help you to stay asleep, so you wake up feeling refreshed and rested. I definitely notice a difference in the way I feel after a month of using this, if you have a Saje near you, and you find you don’t get a good nights sleep I would say try this out (their website ships internationally)!

The next two were actually both gifts from my best friend Amber, and I literally shrieked with joy when I opened them!
First is the Becca with Jaclyn Hill shimmering skin perfector in Champagne Pop!

This is quite literally the most gorgeous highlighter I have ever used in my life. As the name would suggest, it’s a champagne colour, but the formulation is so luxurious and buttery, it actually feels like you’re touching velvet. Not to mention that this adds the most gorgeous glow to your skin, like Jlo glow, I’ve gotten so many compliments on my complexion since I starting wearing this! It is limited edition, so if you can get your hands on one I would highly suggest it! I will definitely be trying to get a back up ASAP! (Thank you Amber!!!)

This one was probably the most exciting for me because I had been whining to Amber for months that I wanted it, and just recently Charlotte Tilbury became available in Canada, so Amber being the bestie she is, went out and picked up the Film Star Bronze and Glow for me!

Can we just take a second to appreciate the beauty that is this duo?
Alright – this is a product that is 100% worth the hype, not only is the packaging rose gold and adorable – but the products themselves are heavenly. The sculpt shade is the perfect contour and or bronzer shade because the tiny amount of shimmer that’s in it doesn’t come up on the skin too much, and it’s got just the right balance of grey and muddy tones that you can use it for both! The highlight shade is a pale gold and accentuates the high points of my face like no ones business. With this duo you can literally become a goddess (or at least feel like one) I have been wearing this non-stop and I feel like a million bucks! I know this is pricey, but I would suggest saving and splurging because everyone needs this in their lives.

Last but not least is my birthday gift to myself, and it has a bit of a back story. In Canada, you have to be 18 to get a tattoo without an adult, so for my 18th birthday I went out and got my first one( it’s a little peace sign on my foot). Then, on my 19th and 20th I went out and got my second and third! So can you guess what I got myself this year? tattoo number four! Although I did take a four year break before this one.

I absolutely love this tattoo, because reading is such a massive part of my life and always has been. My parents made a point to read to my sisters and I, and always gave us books when we were growing up, they encouraged us to read on our own and choose books that peaked out interests. To this day I believe that I have the creativity and imagination that I do because my parents gave me so many books. Sometimes I just feel like reality is just so boring compared to the thousand lives I lived in the pages of my favourite novels.
To this day I am still a massive book worm, and so are my sisters and my parents, which is why I got 5 books, because there’s 5 of us.
To be honest, my family is not big on tattoos, but this one was so important to me.
(sorry to anyone in my family that disapproves & may be reading this, love you)

Until next time my loves,
xoxo
