Product’s I’m loving at the moment!

Hello beautiful people!

I am so sorry that it has been so long since I’ve written a new post, but if I’m being completely honest, I just sort of lost the motivation to blog. I’m sure this happens to a lot of us, and I’m happy that I took the time for myself to find my drive to blog again!

For my first post back, I thought I’d like to share all the products I haven’t been able to stop reaching for over the last couple of months!

First up is the Tartelette In Bloom Palette ($54.00 CAD)

dscn3662

This palette is absolutely divine. I wasn’t drawn to the original all Matte Tartelette Palette, but when they brought this baby out, I couldn’t resist.
You get 12 Shadows, 9 are matte and 3 are shimmery, with quite large pans which makes the value seem better. The formulation on both kinds of shadows is so buttery and velvety, it feels like you’re touching silk. These blend out with almost no effort, and the variety of gorgeous warm toned shades allows you to create any kind of look you could want.
My sister and I were in Europe for 3 weeks this summer, and this is the only eye shadow palette I took with me! I was able to do really fast and easy looks in 5 minutes for day time, and create really beautiful smokey eyes if I had a little bit more time in the evening – this literally does it all.
( The swatches look slightly patchy, but trust me they aren’t! I had just moisturized my arms lol )

Next is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection face palette ($59.00 CAD)

dscn3637dscn3639

I don’t think I have ever been more excited about a face palette than I was to get my hands on this. This comes with 2 blushes, a bronzer and 2 highlighters, and each and every one of them is like a dream in a pan.
Becca makes my favourite highlighters, so when I saw this I knew instantly I would love it, and I was not disappointed. the blushes are SO pigmented, you literally need one dab of your brush in the product and it’s enough for both cheeks.
The shimmery pink on the left reminds me a lot of NARS orgasm with it’s beautiful gold shimmer running through. The matte pink is beautiful for summer time, when you want a really pretty flush to the cheeks. to be honest, the bronzer is a little dark for my ghostly complexion, but I have used it as a blush (using an extremely light hand) and thought it looked really lovely.
THE HIGHLIGHTERS THOUGH – You get champagne pop! in here, which I’ve raved about before, which just adds the most amazing peachy glow to the high points of the face.
but Prosecco Pop, my goodness, is the most stunning pale gold highlight I have ever seen. Whenever I wear this, I get compliments on my skin, it may be my new favourite highlighter of all time. They need to bring prosecco pop out on its own, because it’s that incredible.
You could also use this palette for the eyes if you wanted, so if you were traveling this is literally all you would need!

being the vampire that I am, I literally have no eyebrows because my hairs are so pale, so I started getting them tinted at the Sephora Brow Bar (makes a huge difference) After one of my services, the lovely girl used their new Ka-Brow  cream gel eyebrow colour ($30.00 CAD) on me, and I instantly fell in love.

If you’ve been following Laauraborealis for a while, you know I swore by Anastasia Dip Brow to create something from nothing for my brows, but this baby has definitely taken the MVP spot!
The lid of the product actually comes with a brush built into it, so you don’t need to fuss with your own angled brush which I really like, and the product itself has the coolest formulation. Dip brow is a pomade, so it feels quite thick and sticky, but this stuff is a gel/powder formula, so it goes on almost like a soft gel, dries down quickly to a powder and literally doesn’t budge all day! This is another product I took to Europe with me, and it withstood the sweaty French Sun everyday for a week. Literally, the rest of my make up would melt off, and my brows would still be perfect.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy (£2.00 GBP)

dscn3652

I picked this up from Boots while we were in London and I wish I had bought 5 more since we can’t get it in Canada. This keeps my lips hydrated for HOURS! I put this on before bed, and I wake up with lovely soft lips. It smells delicious, and just works wonders. This is definitely going to be in my purse throughout the cold winter months.

Tanya Burr Matte Nail polish in Soft Pyjamas (£4.99 GBP)

dscn3644

Something else I picked up in Boots while we were in London was this lovely nail polish by my all time favourite Youtuber (something we also don’t get here in Canada, and feelunique.com wont ship nail polish over seas). I have a few other shades that aren’t matte, but this one stood out the most to me. The formula dries down super quick, and even without a top coat this polish goes DAYS without chipping. Soft Pyjamas is a beautiful taupey-grey-violet colour that’s just perfect for fall/winter, Im definitely going to be wearing this a lot in the coming months. If you live in the UK and can get your hands on these easily, I would highly suggest giving them a try!

L’oreal Glam Bronze ($10.99 CAD)

dscn3646
dscn3647dscn3650

I have been using this non-stop (as you can see I’ve already hit pan). This bronzer gives the most gorgeous and natural warmth to the skin! the formula is super silky and blends onto your face/neck/chest like a dream. It is shimmery, but not like chunky glitter, it’s the prettiest natural shimmer that just makes your skin look radiant and healthy.
This is another product where I got so many compliments on my skin.
Being very pale, I was worried this would come off slightly orange, but it doesn’t at all, it’s that perfect sort of muddy brown you want in a natural bronzer.
Also just a shout out to the pan size, this thing is massive! well worth the price. I seriously hope this wasn’t limited edition for summer.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise cream shadow in Jean ($36.00 CAD)

dscn3656

dscn3658

Holy moly, Charlotte Tilbury is a goddess. This is the best cream shadow I have ever used! It’s a beautiful champagne shade that can be worn on it’s own, or with shadow layered over top – this is probably the most universal shade, which would look stunning on any skin tone.
These are super pigmented, and a little goes a LONG way because the formula is almost whipped as opposed to other cream shadows that are quite hard.
If you wear this on it’s own, it dries down and doesn’t move at all, and if you layer shadow on top, you can bet that isn’t budging all day/night long.
You get 7ml of product, which will last you a very long time, just make sure you shut the lid tight, because this is quite expensive and you don’t want this magic drying out.

Last up is the Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express Mascara ($7.99 CAD)

dscn3659

Again, if you’ve been following my blog for a while you know CoverGirl Full lash bloom mascara has been my go-to from the drug store, but as all make up addicts do, I got an itch to try out a new product.
This is a really lovely mascara, the wand is plastic which I’m usually not a fan of, but it’s not too sharp, so I’ve managed not to stab myself in the eye with it (yet).
Despite the fact that I didn’t buy the waterproof formula, this baby acts like a waterproof mascara. This literally doesn’t flake, print onto my top lid or underneath the bottom lashes, it’s just awesome. It gives my lashes a really beautiful amount of volume without being too clumpy or spidery, and it doesn’t dry hard or crunchy like some intense mascaras can.
The only thing is, since the formula is so strong, it is quite difficult to remove. I have to use a waterproof eye make up remover, even though this isn’t technically a waterproof mascara.

That’s all for now my loves, but don’t worry, I wont wait so long to post again.

Until next time,

xoxo

2013 Drug store beauty favourites!

Hello Beautiful people! and Happy New Year! I cannot believe that it is 2014,that’s just crazy, where did 2013 go?
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with family and friends and lots of delicious food, and I hope you all brought in the new year safely!
To look back on 2013 some of my favourite memories are definitely graduating college (woo!) and going to the Bahamas with my boyfriend 🙂
I had a lot of favourite beauty products in 2013 and most of them were drug store so I decided to make this post all about those.

2 foundations really stood out to me in 2013 and they were the Revlon nearly naked foundation and the Revlon colour stay foundation. They both have medium to full coverage but they aren’t at all heavy. The nearly naked has a bit more of a radiant, dewy finish where the colour stay is slightly more matte. I’m very fair, and often have a hard time finding foundations that are my colour (especially drug store foundations) but I find both of these to be a perfect match. They glide on so nicely and last all day long, I did find I had to powder the nearly naked throughout the day but I have combination skin so that was just due to my own oiliness. Both foundations are under 25$ which is a little bit expensive but I would compare these to a high end product because they preform so well. DSCN0026
The next product is by Maybelline and it’s the fit me concealer. I purchased this in November just to keep in my purse in case I needed it, and it ended up becoming a staple in my everyday make up routine. It has a very creamy consistency with fabulous coverage, and minimal creasing, I believe it was around 15$ and it is absolutely worth the money because you don’t need a lot of it. It comes in a tube which is so handy to keep in my little purse sized make up bag, although I found I didn’t need to retouch throughout the day with this concealer, it just made me feel better to have it. I’m usually not to fussed with the concealer I use but this product just amazed me, and I will definitely be continuing to use it during 2014.

Next is my last complexion product and it is the rimmel stay matte powder. I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and it is still the best powder I’ve ever used. the packaging is a little cheap looking but for the product itself I don’t even care, I apply this after my foundation and concealer to set my make up and keep my t-zone from getting shiny and I stay matte for at least 6 or 7 hours before I need to touch up. I don’t find it breaks me out or clogs my pores at all either, I keep one in my purse and one at home because I love it so much, it is just so effective and it only costs about 5$! such amazing value for the money you’re spending.
DSCN0024
I loved two mascaras through 2013 and they were the Maybelline colossal volume express cat eye mascara (long name!) and the bourjois volumizer mascara. I loved these because they achieved two different things for me, the Maybelline mascara was gorgeous for everyday, it separated my lashes and coated them evenly making them look full and healthy, where as the bourjois mascara has two steps, step one is to coat your lashes and step two adds much more mascara making them look voluminous. I used bourjois mostly when I was going out or wearing a smoky eye and wanted to go for more dramatic lashes without wearing fake ones. the colossal cat eye mascara runs for about 10$ but you can always find it on sale and the bourjois mascara was 20$ but totally worth it. these were and still are a big part of my make up routine, and Im so happy to have found them in 2013.

I have two lipsticks that did not leave my handbag during 2013 and they were Kate Moss Rimmel London velvet matte lipstick in the colour 109, and Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle. The Kate Moss lipstick is a pastel pinky-orange colour which was great for spring/summer and I loved wearing it with a really natural eye. I actually have about 8 of the Kate Moss lipsticks and the whole line in general is great! and they cost around 8$! they are very highly pigmented, and they go on silky smooth, the original formula is surprisingly hydrating. I do find I need to use a chap stick under the matte ones, but generally matte lipsticks make my lips dry. DSCN0036DSCN0037
The Revlon lip butter was gorgeous for fall/winter because it has the hydration of a balm and the buildable pigment of a lipstick, I love this product because its so versatile, it’s a pinky brown neutral colour which was great for everyday. If I was going for a natural lip, a would apply it and then rub it in with my finger to make it like a stain, if I was going for a more intense and glossy look I just applied it in a few layers and build it up. I only have the colour Pink Truffle but I’m definitely going to be getting more, as they cost under 10$.DSCN0034DSCN0035
My final love of 2013 is a hair product and it is the Herbal Essences Split end protector. I adore this because I put one pump into wet hair and it acts as a leave in conditioner as well as protecting my hair from heat and tools, I believe it costs about 8$ but I’ve only ever been able to find it at the grocery store which is so odd. It also lasts a very long time as you only need one pump, I’ve been using this for 2 years and I’ve only had 2 bottles. I use this every time I wash my hair, despite whether or not I’m going to be styling it. I absolutely notice my hair is frizzier, and nowhere near as soft on days I don’t use this, and since it doubles as a heat protectant it saves me having to load my hair full of product.
DSCN0038
I’ve actually written more in depth posts on the kate moss lipsticks and the herbal essences hair product, so you can just scroll down to read those if you’d like!
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope these reviews were helpful and maybe gave you some new beauty curiosities for 2014!
until next time
