Hello beautiful people!
I am so sorry that it has been so long since I’ve written a new post, but if I’m being completely honest, I just sort of lost the motivation to blog. I’m sure this happens to a lot of us, and I’m happy that I took the time for myself to find my drive to blog again!
For my first post back, I thought I’d like to share all the products I haven’t been able to stop reaching for over the last couple of months!
First up is the Tartelette In Bloom Palette ($54.00 CAD)
This palette is absolutely divine. I wasn’t drawn to the original all Matte Tartelette Palette, but when they brought this baby out, I couldn’t resist.
You get 12 Shadows, 9 are matte and 3 are shimmery, with quite large pans which makes the value seem better. The formulation on both kinds of shadows is so buttery and velvety, it feels like you’re touching silk. These blend out with almost no effort, and the variety of gorgeous warm toned shades allows you to create any kind of look you could want.
My sister and I were in Europe for 3 weeks this summer, and this is the only eye shadow palette I took with me! I was able to do really fast and easy looks in 5 minutes for day time, and create really beautiful smokey eyes if I had a little bit more time in the evening – this literally does it all.
( The swatches look slightly patchy, but trust me they aren’t! I had just moisturized my arms lol )
Next is the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection face palette ($59.00 CAD)
I don’t think I have ever been more excited about a face palette than I was to get my hands on this. This comes with 2 blushes, a bronzer and 2 highlighters, and each and every one of them is like a dream in a pan.
Becca makes my favourite highlighters, so when I saw this I knew instantly I would love it, and I was not disappointed. the blushes are SO pigmented, you literally need one dab of your brush in the product and it’s enough for both cheeks.
The shimmery pink on the left reminds me a lot of NARS orgasm with it’s beautiful gold shimmer running through. The matte pink is beautiful for summer time, when you want a really pretty flush to the cheeks. to be honest, the bronzer is a little dark for my ghostly complexion, but I have used it as a blush (using an extremely light hand) and thought it looked really lovely.
THE HIGHLIGHTERS THOUGH – You get champagne pop! in here, which I’ve raved about before, which just adds the most amazing peachy glow to the high points of the face.
but Prosecco Pop, my goodness, is the most stunning pale gold highlight I have ever seen. Whenever I wear this, I get compliments on my skin, it may be my new favourite highlighter of all time. They need to bring prosecco pop out on its own, because it’s that incredible.
You could also use this palette for the eyes if you wanted, so if you were traveling this is literally all you would need!
being the vampire that I am, I literally have no eyebrows because my hairs are so pale, so I started getting them tinted at the Sephora Brow Bar (makes a huge difference) After one of my services, the lovely girl used their new Ka-Brow cream gel eyebrow colour ($30.00 CAD) on me, and I instantly fell in love.
If you’ve been following Laauraborealis for a while, you know I swore by Anastasia Dip Brow to create something from nothing for my brows, but this baby has definitely taken the MVP spot!
The lid of the product actually comes with a brush built into it, so you don’t need to fuss with your own angled brush which I really like, and the product itself has the coolest formulation. Dip brow is a pomade, so it feels quite thick and sticky, but this stuff is a gel/powder formula, so it goes on almost like a soft gel, dries down quickly to a powder and literally doesn’t budge all day! This is another product I took to Europe with me, and it withstood the sweaty French Sun everyday for a week. Literally, the rest of my make up would melt off, and my brows would still be perfect.
Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy (£2.00 GBP)
I picked this up from Boots while we were in London and I wish I had bought 5 more since we can’t get it in Canada. This keeps my lips hydrated for HOURS! I put this on before bed, and I wake up with lovely soft lips. It smells delicious, and just works wonders. This is definitely going to be in my purse throughout the cold winter months.
Tanya Burr Matte Nail polish in Soft Pyjamas (£4.99 GBP)
Something else I picked up in Boots while we were in London was this lovely nail polish by my all time favourite Youtuber (something we also don’t get here in Canada, and feelunique.com wont ship nail polish over seas). I have a few other shades that aren’t matte, but this one stood out the most to me. The formula dries down super quick, and even without a top coat this polish goes DAYS without chipping. Soft Pyjamas is a beautiful taupey-grey-violet colour that’s just perfect for fall/winter, Im definitely going to be wearing this a lot in the coming months. If you live in the UK and can get your hands on these easily, I would highly suggest giving them a try!
L’oreal Glam Bronze ($10.99 CAD)
I have been using this non-stop (as you can see I’ve already hit pan). This bronzer gives the most gorgeous and natural warmth to the skin! the formula is super silky and blends onto your face/neck/chest like a dream. It is shimmery, but not like chunky glitter, it’s the prettiest natural shimmer that just makes your skin look radiant and healthy.
This is another product where I got so many compliments on my skin.
Being very pale, I was worried this would come off slightly orange, but it doesn’t at all, it’s that perfect sort of muddy brown you want in a natural bronzer.
Also just a shout out to the pan size, this thing is massive! well worth the price. I seriously hope this wasn’t limited edition for summer.
Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise cream shadow in Jean ($36.00 CAD)
Holy moly, Charlotte Tilbury is a goddess. This is the best cream shadow I have ever used! It’s a beautiful champagne shade that can be worn on it’s own, or with shadow layered over top – this is probably the most universal shade, which would look stunning on any skin tone.
These are super pigmented, and a little goes a LONG way because the formula is almost whipped as opposed to other cream shadows that are quite hard.
If you wear this on it’s own, it dries down and doesn’t move at all, and if you layer shadow on top, you can bet that isn’t budging all day/night long.
You get 7ml of product, which will last you a very long time, just make sure you shut the lid tight, because this is quite expensive and you don’t want this magic drying out.
Last up is the Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express Mascara ($7.99 CAD)
Again, if you’ve been following my blog for a while you know CoverGirl Full lash bloom mascara has been my go-to from the drug store, but as all make up addicts do, I got an itch to try out a new product.
This is a really lovely mascara, the wand is plastic which I’m usually not a fan of, but it’s not too sharp, so I’ve managed not to stab myself in the eye with it (yet).
Despite the fact that I didn’t buy the waterproof formula, this baby acts like a waterproof mascara. This literally doesn’t flake, print onto my top lid or underneath the bottom lashes, it’s just awesome. It gives my lashes a really beautiful amount of volume without being too clumpy or spidery, and it doesn’t dry hard or crunchy like some intense mascaras can.
The only thing is, since the formula is so strong, it is quite difficult to remove. I have to use a waterproof eye make up remover, even though this isn’t technically a waterproof mascara.
That’s all for now my loves, but don’t worry, I wont wait so long to post again.
Until next time,
