Skin Care Empties

Hello beautiful people! and Happy New Year!

I cannot believe how quickly 2o16 flew by! It was a wonderful year, I had some up’s and down’s but I think they made me a stronger, and wiser person.

I’m hoping 2017 is going to be an incredible year! Carmen and I are looking to buy our first home and I have a few resolutions I’m trying my hardest to keep (4 days in – so far so good) which include blogging A LOT more – so I think 2017 will be full of lovely memories and lovely people.

I have a problem with hoarding products (I’m sure I’m not the only beauty junkie out there with this issue.. right?) but when Carmen and I decided to start looking for a home, obviously we sat down and crunched some numbers, and I have to say, I spend a bit too much money on beauty products – hair care, skin care, make up, etc. So, I promised myself I would use up all the products I have before buying anything new.
Let me tell you, this is not an easy thing to do when all these beautiful new products are launching, or I’m wandering through shoppers drug mart and see something I’ve never tried before, but I’m doing my best and managed to get through some of the things in my collection.

The Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel ($51.00 CAD)
This has got to be one of the nicest cleansers I have ever used on my skin.
It doesn’t foam up like a cream cleanser does, it just suds up a tiny bit and leaves my skin feeling super fresh, without being stripped or tight.
I use this with my Clarisonic at night for a deeper cleanse, and I use it in the morning just with my hands for a gentle and lovely refresh.
This product is quite expensive for a cleanser, but you only need a pea sized amount for your entire face! To be completely honest, my skin has never looked as clear and decongested as it did when I was using this. Once I use up my other cleansers I am definitely repurchasing this baby.

Origins Modern Friction ($50.00 CAD)
This is probably one of the first exfoliators I ever purchased, the formula is gentle but very effective. It uses Rice Starch to get the dead skin and grime off the skin, and is infused with lemon oil to leave your skin looking fresh and illuminated.
It smells absolutely amazing, and has quite a thick and sticky consistency which means you only need a little bit. I use this on my skin while it’s dry to get a bit of a deeper exfoliation, and then wet my hands and massage it into a creamy lather before rinsing it off.
One thing I do not like about this product is that it hurts like a b if you get it in your eye so be extra careful!

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Skin Brightening Exfoliator ($36.00 CAD)
Apparently I have a real thing for scrubs!
This product is meant to brighten the skin and make pores look smaller. To be honest, I can’t say I notice a massive difference using this or the Origins one, aside from the consistency of this is less thick and more gel like, so if you’re looking for something slightly less expensive I would go for this one. It uses White Bark Extract to promote collagen turn over in the skin, as well as peony extract to brighten and leave your skin feeling hydrated and fresh.
Especially now that the weather is colder, and we’ve all finished binging on sweets and delicious holiday food, I definitely think my skin could use a pick me up and I will for sure be repurchasing this one.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist ($42.00CAD)
Honestly, I was incredibly disappointed with this mist. It smells aggressively like roses, which I probably should have expected, but my sister kept making a joke that my face smelled like a grandma. I also really didn’t notice any kind of change in my skin, it’s said to balance, hydrate and condition the skin for your other skin care products, but I didn’t notice any of that aside from MAYBE a bit of hydration. I used the whole bottle because I paid for it, but I don’t think I’ll be picking this up again, I much prefer my Saje Natural Wellness Skin Fitness Toner which is only $20.00.

Origins Eye Doctor Eye Cream ($44.00CAD)
The price of these seems high, but this little bottle lasted me over a year! As far as eye creams go, I don’t think you can get much better than this little guy. It smells like cucumbers, has a lovely creamy consistency that doesn’t leave your under eye area looking like a greasy mess, sits beautifully under make up and hydrates like a dream.
In winter my eyes water like crazy, and I tend to get really dry in the outer corners which is so annoying, but after discovering Eye Doctor, I no longer suffer with that issue. If you have dry skin around your eyes, or are generally just looking for something luxurious for such a sensitive area of the face I would 100% suggest picking this up, or getting a sample from your local Sephora.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate($54.00CAD)
I have definitely rambled about this before so I won’t stay here too long. BASICALLY, this is the loveliest oil ever. It smells absolutely divine and leaves my skin feeling nourished, brightened and healthy. This was my second bottle, and you better believe I’ll be buying my third! I ran out of this mid-December and I’ve already noticed my skin changing without it – my complexion is already looking a little uneven and dull which tells you how effective this stuff is.

That’s all for now my loves, I hope 2017 is being kind to you so far.
Until next time,
xoxo

What’s In My Make Up Bag – Dinner Edition!

Hello beautiful people!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend! and to my Canadian follower’s I hope you’re enjoying this gorgeous Victoria Day long weekend!

For this post I’ve collaborated with OpenTable Toronto to tell you guys what I have in my make up bag for a dinner out, and what I like to take with me to touch up and all that jazz!
Never heard of OpenTable? well first off, you’re crazy! but basically, OpenTable allows you to search your neighbourhood or city for restaurants and book your reservation online. The amazing thing about this is though, that you can search for tables that are still available the same day! You can also search for specific restaurants or even just the type of cuisine you’re in the mood for! It’s really just a one-stop shop for dinner plans.
OpenTable also has a rewards program, it’s free to join and all you have to do is book and keep your reservation through their site, and you automatically accumulate points which can be used towards meals for future reservations.
OpenTable also has sites for the UK, Japan, Germany and Mexico, and they’re constantly growing! I would definitely suggest looking through their site if your country is available!

Last night, Carmen and I went for a lovely dinner at Canyon Creek, and since we don’t go out that often I thought I’d go slightly more glam than normal with my make – up and rock a darker lip!

When I go out for dinner and I know I want to wear a bold lip, I actually prefer just to use a lip-liner because they’re so long lasting and have a really beautiful stained look to them.
For this look I used MAC Beet lip liner, which is a really gorgeous red-berry toned shade.

For complexion I used:
Urban Decay naked skin foundation & concealer
Sleek contour kit
Hourglass Anbient bronzer
Rimmel stay matte powder
Nars blush in seduction
MAC cream colour base in shell

For my eyes I used:
Anastasia dip brow in soft brown
Stila eyes are the window palette in soul
Clinique bottom lash mascara and Maybelline lash sensational mascara

I didn’t go too smoky with the eye’s because I wore such a dark lip colour!

I wore my Rebecca Minkoff mini bag to dinner, and for touch up’s I brought MAC beet, my Urban Decay concealer, and the L’Oreal infallible powder because it has a mirror and a little sponge for applying the powder.

We had a wonderful dinner, and I only had to touch up my lip colour once! Which shows you how long lasting MAC lip liners are.
If you haven’t used OpenTable before I would highly suggest it, it honestly makes life so much easier!
Until next time my loves,
xoxo

Sephora.ca Haul #2!

Hello beautiful people! Happy Friday, I hope you all have fabulous plans this weekend!
On Wednesday I awoke to two, yes two, Sephora boxes on my door step!  So I figured a haul was in order!
I got quite a few samples I’m eager to try, and re-purchased my favourite concealer.
I also picked up a few skin care bits for my mom because I’m a good daughter that way…and also Sephora has double the points on skin care at the moment, so I ordered some products for her to reap the benefits! (THANKS MOM!)

I’ll start with the samples to get them out of the way!
DSCN1430
I used 250 points to get a tiny bottle of the Dolce and Gabana fragrance Dolce because I really like the scent and wanted to give it a try.
I got a sample of the Makeup forever HD cream blush in 410 which I’m pumped to try, and a small atomizer of the Tom Ford velvet orchid perfume.
I also got the atomizer of Flora by Gucci (To be honest, the samples weren’t that great when I placed these orders) and the Amorepacific night and day eye treatment which, I’ve heard really good things about.
Living proof “prime” style extender, which is a leave in treatment that is supposed to help your curls or any style really, stay in place all night and even into the next day.
For one of my orders I got a sample bag of 12 skin care samples, that included a bunch of things I love in sample size ( so handy for weekends away) and things I’ve heard great reviews on, like the Omorovicza thermal cleansing balm.
For my other order, I used a promo code to get a sample of the Sunday Riley Good Genes serum, which is incredibly expensive, but I thought this would be a good way to see what all the hype is about.

I’ll start with my re-purchase first, the NARS radiant creamy concealer.
This is my third tube of this stuff and I can tell you now it won’t be my last, this is hands down, the best concealer I’ve ever used. It covers blemishes and under eye circles without creasing, it stays in place all day, and has a really blendable consistency. If you haven’t tried this, you need to!
DSCN1434

Next is another NARS product, I’ve heard such amazing things about the audacious lipsticks that I just had to pick one up. I definitely get what all the fuss is about; they have a really creamy formulation, while still staying put throughout the day. I got the shade Anna, which is a deep brown-rose with plumy undertones, it’s a beautiful shade to wear every day, but I definitely think I’ll be picking up some of the bolder shades in the line!
DSCN1436DSCN1438DSCN1439

You guys know how much I love my Too Faced products, so when I saw this blush/bronzer duo online I had to put it in my basket!
The Too Faced soul mate’s blushing bronzer come in two shades, Ross and Rachel and Carrie and Big, which is the one I got, because A. I love sex and the city and B. the blush colour called my name.
The bronzer is a light shade that is perfect for subtly contouring my super pale skin, with a tiny hint of shimmer that adds a really natural radiance to the skin.
The blush is a gorgeous peachy-coral that is just right up my alley, not to mention the packaging of this is just adorable!
More praise to Too Faced from me!
DSCN1441DSCN1443

Finally, the best and most anticipated product of my orders.
The hourglass modernist eye shadow palette in “exposure” which is the plum toned one, has the most buttery and beautiful shadows! I love the packaging and layout of the palette, and can’t wait to play more with this.
I don’t have anything like this in my collection, and may have to order one of the other shades, because of the amazing quality of these babies. They have great pigmentation, while being super soft and blendable, and they last all day. If you’re looking to splurge on a palette in the near future, I would suggest checking these out!
DSCN1446DSCN1450

Those are all my goodies!
I may do a makeup look using all of my new products, let me know if that’s something you’d like to see!

Until next time my loves,
xoxo
