November Favourites!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you’re all getting as amped up for the Christmas season as I am! Oh and happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my American readers out there. Hopefully if you’ve been taking advantage of the black Friday sales you’re being super safe! And also getting some great deals!

This month I threw a few none beauty favourites in just to make it a little whimsical and also I’ve just really been loving these particular things like no bodies business! But I’ll start with the beauty because it’s the most fun.

First off is the NARS blush in the shade Almeria ($35) which is part of their holiday collection. Can we just take a second to talk about how freaking gorgeous their holiday packaging is!? I’m in love.

I’m a massive fan of NARS as a brand in general but there’s something about their blushes that just makes my heart race and this one had to come home with me. It’s a beautiful sort of rusty pink colour with a slightly berry tone in it as well, there’s a tiny hint of shimmer in there which adds the most subtle and natural glow to your cheeks which is perfect for this time of year. I have not stopped wearing this because I love how it makes my skin look, but I think its limited edition which means it much be cherished!

Next is the Kat Von D studded Kiss lipstick in the shade lovecraft ($26) The packaging on this is also super cute!
DSCN0918
I’m sure you’ve heard other bloggers/YouTubers talking about this lipstick. It’s a really gorgeous dusty rose colour with a slight brown tint as well, this colour is very “Kylie Jenner” esque which I know is super on trend at the moment. I like this colour for everyday because it adds a little something to your look without being a full on bold lip, and the formulation is nice and creamy. All in all I’ve been loving this baby, it also smells like vanilla which is my all-time favourite scent!

Last beauty favourite is the Flower Beauty About Face foundation ($13.50) I recently did a post on this so I won’t go into too much detail, but I’ve really been enjoying this foundation throughout November. It’s got good coverage, it’s not totally matte and it’s not full on dewy; it just adds a nice glow to the skin. If you’re looking for a new drugstore foundation I would definitely try this one out, it’s exclusively at Walmart!

Onto the-none beauty faves!
First is the Bath and Body Works Frosted Cranberry candle. This is what I consider a transition candle, you don’t want to start burning those real christmasy candles too early, and this one for me is just christmasy enough without singing carols if that makes any sense! It smells like you’d expect it to, a nice cranberry scent with a little bit of sweetness too, not overpowering and really pleasant. Go give it a sniff!
DSCN0926

Every single time I’ve been near a David’s Tea I’ve had to go in and order an Organic Vanilla Chai iced tea latte, they’re so dang good! The Vanilla adds a tiny bit of sweetness which cuts on the spiciness of the chai, it’s honestly just divine! I asked Carmen to buy me some of the tea for Christmas so I can make them at home!

Last but definitely not least is the TV show The 100! My friend Lisha suggested this to me and I was hooked from the very first episode! It’s on Netflix and there’s 1 full season and the second season gets a new episode added once a week, so pace yourself if you’re going to get into it! I don’t want to give too much away, but basically it’s about these 100 prisoners who get sent back to earth from space after 97 years on “the Arc” which is their space station. The planet got nuked so people couldn’t live on it, but the 100 prisoners who get sent back are all under 18, and they have to survive all on their own to make sure earth is still habitable! I may not be explaining this very well, but if you love the hunger games and divergent you will love this show! It’s awesome.
100

That’s it for November’s favourites, but don’t forget that Blogmas here on Laauraborealis starts on Monday! If you didn’t read my last post, basically I’m going to be blogging every day until Christmas just letting you know what I’m getting up to! Also I’ve challenged myself to watch a Christmas movie a day during blogmas as well!

You guys are the best!
Until next time,
xoxo

**Just a little disclaimer – The pictures of the tea and “The 100” are from google, all the other pictures I took myself.

Top 5 favourite fall Bath and Body Works candles!

Hello beautiful people!
Today is the last installment of my fall top 5’s for September! I can’t believe how quickly the month has gone by!
For my final top 5 post I’m going to be writing about my  favourite fall candles from Bath and Body Works. If I’m totally honest I’m pretty bad at describing smells, so you’ll all just have to go in and smell them for yourselves!
I love Bath and Body Works candles because they’re super unique smells and because they almost always have some kind of deal on, whether it be buy 3 get 3 free or 10 dollars of a purchase of 30 you always get a huge amount of product for your money when you go in there. On with the candles!

Number one: Warm Vanilla Sugar
DSCN0449
This is probably my favourite BBW scent of all time, it’s super sweet and warm and I just find it incredibly comforting. The vanilla scent isn’t over powering, when I walk into my bedroom after burning this I instantly feel happy and at home.

Number two: Leaves
DSCN0448

This one is a new favourite for me, it’s a little bit of a spicier scent but not in a dramatic way. It sort of smells like the first steps you take out of your house on a late fall morning; it’s very pleasant and welcoming. The past few times people have come over they’ve asked what I’ve been burning because they like it so much.

Number three: Spiced cider
DSCN0447
One of our family traditions for thanksgiving is to go up to our cottage and we always have apple cider which is my favourite hot drink of all time, so when I burn this candle it reminds me of my family and how much I love being with them during the holidays. It smells exactly like what you’d expect it to, sweet and spicy warm apple cider

Number four: Pumpkin cupcake
DSCN0446

It wouldn’t be fall if I didn’t include something pumpkin scented. This candle smells like someone spent the day baking, it literally makes your mouth water, it’s very sweet with a tiny hint of spice and the warmth of cupcakes fresh from the oven. It doesn’t have a lot of pumpkin in the scent but just enough that you can tell it’s there, I burn this one when I’m in the mood for sweets or when the weather starts to get really cold.

Number five: Harvest coffee
DSCN0450

I’m cheating a little bit with this one because it reminds me of Christmas but I prefer to burn it in the fall. The scent reminds me of when my parents would brew coffee on Christmas morning before they would let my sister and I open our gifts. But I prefer to burn it around this time of year because it’s earthy and rich which is a nice change from all the fruity and fresh candles I was burning all summer. This also smells slightly like chocolate, so it’s a good one to have around when I’m craving some!

Those are my top 5 favourite bath and body works candles! leave me a comment telling me what some of your favourites are!
until next time,
xoxo

My pamper night essentials!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The weather here in T.O was beautiful and I was feeling very good because I got to carry out my Friday tradition which always sets me up for a great weekend. Now Fridays are a very special day to me because they are my pamper day! As I’ve said to you guys before I’m a gardener, so my job can get quite physical and most of the time I end up coming home covered in dirt. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love my job, but at the end of the week it is so nice to have something to look forward to! When I get home from work I have a snack and then spend the next couple of hours in total bliss just for myself which I think we are all entitled to at least once a week because we all work hard!
These are the things I use to make my Friday pamper sessions incredible:

A good smelling Candle! Currently I’m burning the bath& body works coconut leaves, this is nice refreshing scent that makes me think of my vacation in the Bahamas with Carmen and it makes me smile!
DSCN0206

Bubble bath! What is a pamper night without a bubble bath!? Currently a couple of my favourite bubbling products are the LUSH creamy candy bubble bar and philosophy vanilla birthday cake bubble bath. Both smell super sweet and delicious and I find they leave my skin feeling nice and soft! I like to soak for around 30 minutes with a nice big glass of ice water (or vino depending how I’m feeling) and a good book or some music, such a lovely way to relax on a Friday after a long week at work!
DSCN0201

A good scrub is a must when having a pamper evening, after I’ve done all my soaking and relaxing I go in with my Soap and Glory Flake Away scrub! It smells delicious; it’s the classic S&G scent which I absolutely love. This scrub is pretty granular which I like in a good exfoliator, the only weird thing I find with this product is that over time even with the lid on it turns this like vibrant yellow colour!( The picture doesn’t capture the colour well) So strange! Has anyone else found that with this product? Let me know in the comments! But this exfoliator gets rid of all the nasty dead skin cells I have and gets me all ready for my next essential product
DSCN0203DSCN0204

Once I’ve rinsed that off I go in with the L’occitane almond shower oil which comes out of the bottle like an oil but actually lathers when you put it onto your wet skin. It’s incredibly moisturizing and it smells really nice, I think in general all products for a pamper night should just smell lovely! If you have dry skin or really just want to give your skin a nice treat I would absolutely suggest picking this stuff up because it is divine, it leaves your skin feeling soft and supple and super hydrated
DSCN0200

By the time I’m done all that crazy stuff my bath water is usually cold so I’ll get out and apply a face mask, my skin has really been bumming me out lately so I’ve been using the Origins clear improvements mask or the Glam Glow YouthMud to add a little radiance to my skin. I’ve written about both of these in passed posts but basically the Origins masks uses clay to draw impurities out of the skin and makes pores appear smaller. This is by far one of my all-time favourite masks! If you’ve never tried this I would highly highly recommend this. I like to use Glam Glow when I feel like my skin needs a little pick me up! The tingling is a little uncomfortable but the results are very nice, my skin is definitely brighter after using this mask.
DSCN0202

Whilst my mask is drying I’ll moisturize my skin with the Fresh sugar lychee body lotion which is my favourite lotion but it’s rather expensive for such a small bottle (26$) so I only use it when I want to treat my skin. It smells like sugar candies I used to eat when I was younger which is originally why I bought it, but the formula is so luxurious! It’s a nice and light cream that absorbs beautifully into the skin leaving it feeling refreshed and hydrated.
DSCN0205

All these things combined create the perfect pamper night for me, which leaves me feeling relaxed with soft skin and a radiant complexion that makes me feel great about myself so I can enjoy my weekend and look forward to doing it all again the next Friday!

I hope you all have a lovely week in whatever you’re doing, and don’t forget to enjoy some sunshine and a few minutes for yourself every day!
Hit all the good buttons and let me know in the comments what some of your favourite pamper night essentials are!
Until next time, xoxo
