January favourites!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you’ve all had a lovely week, and are looking forward to a fun weekend!
Since we’re only a couple of days away from the beginning of February, I figured a January favourites post was in order!

My first January favourite has got to be my new kitten, Woobie. She is the cutest, most energetic little baby, and I can’t imagine my house without her now!

Next is actually a YouTube channel! I decided I want to make more of an effort to be physically active, but I’m so not a gym kind of person, so I haven’t always been motivated to exercise.
After finding Blogilates,that’s definitely changed!
Cassey Ho creates workouts that are fun and effective; they’re also not that long, which I personally prefer as I’m not the kind of person who can work out for hours on end! I’m definitely going at my own pace and taking it slow, but I look forward to working out alongside her videos! If you’re finding it hard to get motivated, I’d check out her channel.

During the winter months, I find my hair gets super dry and frizzy and my regular drugstore products just aren’t cutting it.
To remedy my issue, I went into Sephora and picked up the Living Proof PHD (perfect hair day) system, which has a shampoo, conditioner and a leave in treatment.
After the first use of these products my hair looked so much softer and healthier, there was way less frizz, and all in all my hair looked and felt 100 times better. I use the leave in treatment on my damp hair, and then I’ll either blow dry it or let it air dry, but I always end up with salon soft locks!
The shampoo and conditioner are quite pricey, at $30 a bottle, but as gross as it is, I only wash my hair 2 times a week, so the bottles last quite a while. I would say if you can’t afford those, at least go for the leave in treatment ($18) because I feel like alone it would still make your hair feel incredible!

The Revlon colourburst laquer balm in tease is my next favourite. I’ve been wearing this every single day, it’s so gorgeous!
I recently used this in a drugstore make up look post, so I won’t go into too much of a ramble, but this pencil is hydrating while adding a lovely wash of colour to the lips. I’ll definitely continue using this throughout February and into the spring.

I think I’m super late to the party on this product, but the Maybelline colour tattoo cream shadow in Bad to the Bronze (or on and on bronze depending where you live) is honestly incredible. It’s a gorgeous bronzey- taupe shade that creates a really beautiful effect on the lids. It’s got great pigmentation and it’s long lasting, just like all the other colour tattoos. I wear this by itself, or with shadow layered on top to add more intensity.
I’m sure a lot of you already have this in your collection, but if you don’t, I promise it’s worth the hype.

Another product I wrote a whole blog post on is the LUSH cosmetics Mask of Magnaminty, so again, I won’t gas on about it. I use this mask once a week and have definitely noticed a huge improvement in my skin! I have way less break outs, and my skin looks smooth and glowing. If you haven’t tried this, please give it a shot! It smells great and really works!

Yet again, a product I’ve already done a post on, but really love!
The Covergirl full lash bloom mascara separates lashes while adding a good amount of volume, and literally 0 flaking. I’ve worn this mascara for 12 hours straight without a single flake falling, and it’s not even a waterproof formula! The packaging is cute, and it’s a drugstore product so the price is right! If you’re looking for a new mascara, I would highly, highly recommend this one!

Finally is another skin care discovery! The kiehl’s midnight recovery concentrate is a blend of essential oils to help hydrate, and add radiance to your skin. You can use it on its own, or underneath your night cream depending how much hydration you want/need. I noticed a difference after only a few days of using this stuff! My skin looked less red, my blemishes weren’t as sore; my skin just looked hydrated and lovely. Also this serum smells slightly like lavender, which is soothing when you’re trying to fall asleep.

January was full of new favourites!
Let me know if you guys have tried these & what you think of them!

Layering with ModCloth!

Hello beautiful people!

Today I want to talk about layering. In the winter this can be a crucial yet cute way to keep warm and still look good while you do it! Using clothes from ModCloth, I’m going to show you guys how I like to layer!
ModCloth is a clothing website that has a very wide variety of styles for women of all shapes and sizes. A lot of their clothing has quite a vintage feel, and some of it is also very casual; it’s definitely a website that carries unique and adorable clothes, with something for everyone. After working on this post, I’m definitely going to need to place an order, because I saw about 1000 things I want to get! If you haven’t checked out their site, please do! You will not be sorry.

I decided to go with a bold cardigan and a cute collared shirt to go underneath.
I picked a plain white tank to wear underneath the blouse because white tops can be a little sheer, and the tank offers coverage as well as an additional layer of warmth, and really who doesn’t need a good basic tank?
The collared shirt has beautiful pleating and lace detailing around the collar, but I particularly love that it doesn’t have sleeves, because I hate when sleeves get bunchy under a sweater. This blouse has a nice fit: it’s slightly slouchy, but I feel like it would still be flattering on curvier figures, and the lace adds an air of sexiness while still being sophisticated.
The cardigan is really the star of the show; I went with yellow because people (myself included) have a tendency to wear a lot of deep colours in the winter, so I thought this cardigan could really brighten up the look! I also love the scallop detailing around the collar, and the fact that it’s two-toned adds interest without taking away from the shirt underneath. A cardigan is going to keep you warm, while still being fashionable, not to mention ModCloth has some of the cutest cardigans and sweaters  I’ve ever seen.

I would pair this kind of top ensemble with dark jeans, booties, a nice warm jacket and some mittens to keep your hands toasty.

Modcloth really is a great site to pick up unique pieces for a reasonable price. Like I said, I will definitely be placing an order very soon!
Leave me a comment letting me know how you like to layer your look!
Until next time,

Sephora.ca Haul #2!

Hello beautiful people! Happy Friday, I hope you all have fabulous plans this weekend!
On Wednesday I awoke to two, yes two, Sephora boxes on my door step!  So I figured a haul was in order!
I got quite a few samples I’m eager to try, and re-purchased my favourite concealer.
I also picked up a few skin care bits for my mom because I’m a good daughter that way…and also Sephora has double the points on skin care at the moment, so I ordered some products for her to reap the benefits! (THANKS MOM!)

I’ll start with the samples to get them out of the way!
I used 250 points to get a tiny bottle of the Dolce and Gabana fragrance Dolce because I really like the scent and wanted to give it a try.
I got a sample of the Makeup forever HD cream blush in 410 which I’m pumped to try, and a small atomizer of the Tom Ford velvet orchid perfume.
I also got the atomizer of Flora by Gucci (To be honest, the samples weren’t that great when I placed these orders) and the Amorepacific night and day eye treatment which, I’ve heard really good things about.
Living proof “prime” style extender, which is a leave in treatment that is supposed to help your curls or any style really, stay in place all night and even into the next day.
For one of my orders I got a sample bag of 12 skin care samples, that included a bunch of things I love in sample size ( so handy for weekends away) and things I’ve heard great reviews on, like the Omorovicza thermal cleansing balm.
For my other order, I used a promo code to get a sample of the Sunday Riley Good Genes serum, which is incredibly expensive, but I thought this would be a good way to see what all the hype is about.

I’ll start with my re-purchase first, the NARS radiant creamy concealer.
This is my third tube of this stuff and I can tell you now it won’t be my last, this is hands down, the best concealer I’ve ever used. It covers blemishes and under eye circles without creasing, it stays in place all day, and has a really blendable consistency. If you haven’t tried this, you need to!

Next is another NARS product, I’ve heard such amazing things about the audacious lipsticks that I just had to pick one up. I definitely get what all the fuss is about; they have a really creamy formulation, while still staying put throughout the day. I got the shade Anna, which is a deep brown-rose with plumy undertones, it’s a beautiful shade to wear every day, but I definitely think I’ll be picking up some of the bolder shades in the line!

You guys know how much I love my Too Faced products, so when I saw this blush/bronzer duo online I had to put it in my basket!
The Too Faced soul mate’s blushing bronzer come in two shades, Ross and Rachel and Carrie and Big, which is the one I got, because A. I love sex and the city and B. the blush colour called my name.
The bronzer is a light shade that is perfect for subtly contouring my super pale skin, with a tiny hint of shimmer that adds a really natural radiance to the skin.
The blush is a gorgeous peachy-coral that is just right up my alley, not to mention the packaging of this is just adorable!
More praise to Too Faced from me!

Finally, the best and most anticipated product of my orders.
The hourglass modernist eye shadow palette in “exposure” which is the plum toned one, has the most buttery and beautiful shadows! I love the packaging and layout of the palette, and can’t wait to play more with this.
I don’t have anything like this in my collection, and may have to order one of the other shades, because of the amazing quality of these babies. They have great pigmentation, while being super soft and blendable, and they last all day. If you’re looking to splurge on a palette in the near future, I would suggest checking these out!

Those are all my goodies!
I may do a makeup look using all of my new products, let me know if that’s something you’d like to see!

Until next time my loves,

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Review

Hello beautiful people!

On my last trip to the mall, I went into LUSH looking for a new face mask, because believe it or not I’ve never tried one of theirs (and really I can’t walk passed LUSH without going in).

I’ve read a few reviews on LUSH’s Mask of Magnaminty ($14 for the small tub), which is meant to help clear your skin, so I thought I’d give it a try, because my skin has been breaking out quite a lot lately.
You can actually use this mask on your body as well, so if you suffer from back or chest break outs, this might be a good product for you to look into.
This isn’t one of their fresh masks, so you don’t need to keep it in the fridge, but you should keep it in a relatively cool place.
This mask is green in colour with some squishy lumps in it, and then it also has some harder pieces which are adzuki beans, that help to exfoliate your skin when you rinse it off.
It has honey, and peppermint in it as well, which make this product smell absolutely divine, it’s nice and sweet but also fresh. You apply this mask to a clean face, avoiding your eyes and mouth, and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. It doesn’t dry or anything, so once your 10 minutes is up, you can rinse it off with warm water and use your fingers to help you scrub your skin with those little beans.
When it’s on your skin you don’t really feel anything, maybe slight tingling where you have a blemish or two, but aside from that it feels really nice on your face.
It leaves your skin feeling very clean, but also soft and slightly more even.
Once I’ve rinsed it off, I follow it up with my regular skin care routine, and then go to bed or, apply my make-up depending on what time of day I’m using this particular mask.
I find for a day or two after using this my skin definitely purges impurities, so I get a few more spots and blemishes, but after that short amount of time my skin clears up and looks really good!
I’ve used this twice so far and it’s honestly one of the best detoxifying masks I’ve ever used, after using it those couple of times I notice a big difference in my skin.
If you haven’t tried this mask, and are struggling with your skin at the moment, or are just looking for a deep cleaning mask, I would 100% recommend this!
let me know if you’ve tried this, and what you think of it!
Until next time,

All Drugstore Make-up Look

Hello beautiful people!
Today I thought I’d share an all drug store make-up look with you! Sometimes it can be hard to find good quality products at the drugstore, especially eye shadows, so it took me a while to collect products I was happy with.
In the end though, I was really impressed with all the products I used and will definitely continue using them, but since I hadn’t used some of these before, this will be a bit of a review as well!

Products used:
Maybelline dream wonder liquid touch foundation in the shade 10 porcelain ivory

Rimmel match perfection concealer in the shade 125 fair

Maybelline new York define-a-brow in the shade medium brown

This brow pencil was too dark for me, but once I blended it out with a spooly it was fine. The brush that comes with this product is totally useless, but the pencil itself is nice and waxy and easy to use!

Revlon Bold lacquer mascara

Rimmel eye shadow quad in the shade 019 Sun Safari

I used all 4 of these shades to create a nice bronze but natural look, and I used the palest shade to highlight my cheek bones as well. These shadows are surprisingly buttery and they blend together beautifully, and the pigmentation is better than I expected. I did notice that I was going back to pack more product onto my brush than I normally would, but I was still impressed with the pay off, and it lasted all night.

Revlon colourburst lacquer balm in the shade 130 tease
This is by far my favourite product of the bunch, it’s an orangey red colour that created the most gorgeous and subtle bold lip. It has a nice texture, it’s thicker than a balm and it stays in place quite well, I only had to re-apply after eating. This stuff smells like mint and the pigmentation is really nice, you can build it up to be quite a glossy bold lip, or blend it in with your finger for a more subtle look, which is what I did.

Rimmel stay matte powder

Rimmel natural bronzer in the shade 022 sun bronze

This is a matte bronzer which I used to contour and bronze up my face, it has great colour pay off and blends out really well. It says it’s waterproof on the packaging, which I’m not too sure about, but aside from that I don’t have a bad thing to say about this, it’s a great bronzer.

Rimmel stay blushed liquid cheek tint in the shade 001 pop of pink

I really like this stuff! It comes out in sort of a mousse, and then you blend it onto your cheek using a brush or your fingers, and it gives a really beautiful and natural flush of colour to your cheeks. You also need a tiny amount, so this little tube will last me ages.

As you can see a lot of these products are Rimmel, I just think you get the best quality for your money with Rimmel as opposed to other brands.
Let me know in the comments what your favourite drugstore brand is!

Like I said I was super impressed with all these products and would definitely recommend giving them a try if you haven’t already. I don’t think I spent over $10 dollars on anything except maybe the foundation, which is pretty good considering the quality of these babies.

Until next time my loves,

CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara Review

Hello beautiful people!

I think Mascara is one of the things in my collection that I switch up the most, I mean, every brand has at least 4 mascara’s to choose from and they’re constantly bringing out new ones, which of course I always want to try!
So, recently I was wandering through my local Shoppers Drug Mart and saw the new Cover Girl display. Now, usually I don’t gravitate towards Cover Girl as a brand because I haven’t had the best luck with their products in the past, but I thought I’d give this new mascara a try!

The new Full Lash Bloom mascara ($7.99) is actually amazing! Not only is the packaging super cute and springy, the formulation is awesome! It’s definitely more of a day time mascara, as it doesn’t add a lot of volume.
This stuff separates my lashes and coats each individual lash with product, making them look full and long. You can definitely build it up to be a bit more voluminous, although I find it starts to clump the more you add.

I’ve worn this every day for about a week and I can’t say a bad thing about it, it stays in place with a tiny bit of flaking – like literally two flakes- after 10 hours of wearing it!
My only issue with this product is the wand, I’m really not a fan of the plastic wands as I find they tend to hurt my eyes, so I just have to make sure I’m being really careful when I’m applying the product to the base of my lashes. Other than that this mascara gets a huge thumb’s up from me!

Let me know if you’ve tried this and what you think of it!
Until next time my loves,
