Blogmas day 17! – Baking for a party!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope your week is treating you well so far! we are officially one week away from Christmas eve, that is honestly insane!

I managed to have a bit of a lay in this morning, which was nice since I’ve been getting up very early lately. Once I finally got out of bed I had a very productive day getting ready for my party tomorrow!
Of course the first thing I did was open my calendars:

After I had some breakfast, I got my cookie dough’s out of the fridge and started rolling! I made sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies, and then I cut them into little elves, snow flakes, candy canes and trees because I thought they’d be the most fun to decorate.

Once I cleaned up the kitchen, I went out to pick up a few last-minute things I need for my party!

Today’s Christmas movie is a classic! Frosty the snowman! This is probably the movie I remember watching most as a kid.

Tomorrow’s post is going to be a festive make-up look! so don’t forget to come back and check that out.
Until tomorrow my loves,

Blogmas day 16! – A last minute gift idea and remembering to give back!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you’re week is treating you well so far, and if you’re already off for the Christmas holidays I hope you’re enjoying your time off!
Today was a bit of a busy day, I did a lot of running around and picking things up because I’m having a little Christmas party on Thursday. Nothing huge, just my best girlfriends; they come over and we decorate cookies, eat some good food and catch up!
Advent haul as always:

When I got home I made the cookie dough for the party which I’ll bake into fun shapes tomorrow, and then my dad came home with some delicious walker’s shortbreads for me, so I had a few with a cup of tea.

My family isn’t big on Christmas crackers, so we always make little gift bags to put at everyone’s place setting, and it got me thinking that this would make a great gift if you have a lot of people to buy for and you’re not sure what to get them.
It would be suitable for people you work with, or as a hostess gift.
In our gift bags this year we put a scratch card, some chocolate covered pretzels and some chocolate kisses, pop all that into a cute little gift bag and you’re good to go.
This is a relatively inexpensive and easy to make present. People will always appreciate a little treat, and if they win on the scratch card they’ll be very happy to have gotten it!
It’s just a little something to say you’re thinking of them during the holidays without breaking the bank.

Speaking of thinking of people during the holidays, I just wanted to say that we shouldn’t forget to give back during the Christmas season. We all get so caught up in the gifts, food and family that sometimes we can forget that there are people out there who don’t have loved ones looking out for them. (I’m not placing blame on anyone and I’m guilty of it too.)
As a family we try to donate to local charities and shelters during the holidays, and as often as we can throughout the year. I know everyone has different financial situations and maybe unable to give money, but you can volunteer your time if you have some, or you could even just to donate clothing that you no longer want or wear.
Everything makes a difference to people in need and we should try to remember to do what we can all year-long, but the holiday’s are a nice time if you can only give once a year. Donations and volunteering are always great, especially because it helps the community.
I believe, in general just being kind all the time is a great way to uplift people. Holding a door open, a smile, giving up your seat on the bus, giving a sincere random compliment or even just a hello can make the difference for someone having a bad day. We all share this world and our communities, and I think it’s nice to look up from our phones and tablets and remember that there are people around us – not even necessarily people in need, but just fellow human beings.
I know that kindness can change things and we should remember during the holiday rush and all the time that we’re all in this together. **cue high school musical dance routine**

That’s my humanitarian ramble, I hope you all know how much I appreciate you.

On the topic of WHOmanitarians I watched the cartoon version of the Grinch who stole Christmas, which is my all-time favourite Christmas movie. I love that it’s only 20 minutes long, and the soundtrack is just amazing (and $5.99 on itunes).

I hope you all have a beautiful evening, and remember to be kind.
Until tomorrow,

Blogmas day 15! – Too Faced semi-sweet chocolate bar palette review & swatches!

Hello beautiful people!
I can’t believe we’re 10 days away from Christmas that means only 9 more days of blogmas!! And today I received an early Christmas gift in the mail.
But first, as always:
The picture actually doesn’t do the glitter in this pot justice, it’s so beautiful and reflects the light in all different colours. I’ll definitely try to apply this and take a picture for you guys when I finally decide to wear it!

A little brown box from Sephora arrived on my doorstep this morning, containing one of the most anticipated releases of the year!
The too faced semi-sweet Chocolate bar palette! Such a beautiful product! Obviously it has the classic chocolate smell because the shadows are infused with cocoa powder, which is high in anti-oxidants and super hydrating.
The packaging is similar to the first one but the tin is slimmer, making it travel friendly, and the names of the shadows are printed in the tin this time which is so handy! I hate that when I’m using the first one and I don’t know the name of a shadow.

First row:
Licorice, coconut crème, nougat, hot fudge and truffled

Second row:
Cocoa chili ( One of my favourite shades), pink sugar, puddin’, blueberry swirl, peanut butter and frosting

Third row: My favourite of the palette!
Rum raisin, mousse, caramel, bon bon and butter pecan

How beautiful does this look!?
I’m so excited to play with this! I definitely think this palette is going to be my go-to for the holiday season as it has a couple of beautiful glitters. And I may even use this baby in an upcoming post with a Holiday party make-up look!

Today’s movie is going to be White Christmas, I’ve never seen this one but my parents say it’s a classic, so I’ll be sitting down with them to watch it.

I hope you guys have a lovely Monday, let me know what you’ve been getting up to and how excited you are for Christmas!
Until tomorrow,

Blogmas day 14! – A Christmas slumber party part 2!

Hello beautiful people!
Last night was such an incredible evening! It was so lovely getting to catch up with friends from college and enjoy their company.
My friend Rachel hosted it, and she went all out making her place look festive and wonderful!

We had a secret Santa that got slightly X-rated, but it was all in good fun.

There were a few shenanigans that may have involved a human pyramid, but aside from that it was a lovely night full of laughs, life talks, jokes and these wonderful ladies.
It’s night’s like last night that really make me appreciate the people I have in my life, and that even though we all live in different cities we all make an effort to see each other. Which to me is really what counts in a friendship, when no matter how much time goes by you still want to see those people, and these ladies are people I will always make an effort to see, because each of them is beautiful and amazing.

I got home early this afternoon and decided just to have a chilled out day, because we were up quite late last night!
But of course I opened my advent calendars!

I’m going to watch The Snowman as my Christmas movie tonight. I don’t know if a lot of people know this movie, it’s quite short and it’s narrated by David Bowie, other than that there’s no talking in the film. Let me know in the comments if you’ve seen this movie!

Sorry this is a short one!
I hope you all had a beautiful weekend,
Until tomorrow

Blogmas day 13! – A christmas Slumber Party!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you had a wonderful Friday whatever you got up to!
Carmen and I went to the Toronto Christmas market in our distillery district. It was gorgeous, there were lights everywhere and a giant tree!
It was very crowded, lots of people bumping into me, long lines for food and other things. Aside from that it was fun and festive, I don’t do very well in big crowds so I had a bit of anxiety, but once we found somewhere to sit down and enjoy our treats I was okay.

Today I got a full sized kinder surprise in my advent calendar and a beautiful deep teal polish which is one of my favourite colours.

Tonight my roommates from college and I are all getting together for a Christmas slumber party!
I’m so excited to see all my girls and exchange secret Santa gifts and catch up!
I thought I’d show you guys what I was going to pack with me to stay in Hamilton.

Skincare obviously, hopefully I won’t have had too many drinks to wash my make-up off but just in case I’m bringing:
Simple wipes
Purity cleanser
Bioderma cleansing water
Origins high potency night-a-mins
Kiehl’s midnight recovery concentrate
Origins eye doctor eye cream
Origins gin-zing eye cream
Origins A perfect world moisturizer
My tooth brush & some tooth paste
Cotton rounds

I’m going to bring some cute pj’s obviously, and my outfit for the next day.

In terms of make-up I think I’m just going to bring mascara, because depending how my head is feeling in the morning I don’t think I’m going to need a full face of make-up for the drive home.

Before I leave I’m going to watch one of my favourite Christmas movies, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer! This has been one of my favourite’s since I was little!

I’ll try to take some pictures tonight to post for tomorrow so you can see what me and my girlfriends got up to, it will all depend how much fun we’re having and who is okay with being on my blog.

I hope you guys have a spectacular Saturday!
Until tomorrow my loves,

Blogmas day 12! – December Ipsy Glam Bag

Hello beautiful people!
Last night Carmen and I drove around our neighbourhood and looked at all the Christmas lights against the snow, which is one of my all-time favourite things to do after we get our first big snow fall in Toronto. All the lights looked so beautiful and magical! If you’ve never done this, I would highly suggest giving it a shot because it will definitely put a smile on your face.

I also wanted to say a huge thank you to you guys because I reached 200 followers today! That is so incredible, thank you so so much, I love writing posts for you guys to read as well as reading your posts! You guys are the best!

Enough mush, yesterday I got my December Ipsy glam bag and I thought I’d give you guys some first impressions.

As always:
This morning I got more of the pearls but in black and a package of cute little nail stickers!

I actually got a brush in my glam bag this month which is awesome! It’s by Crown brushes and it’s their C476 crease/shadow brush. It’s double sided which is always nice and handy for traveling, but I would definitely not use the “crease” end for crease work as I just think it’s too small. I would use this more for taking shadow under the eye, or for highlighting in the tear duct area. The hairs feel really soft as well so I’m pumped to try this out.

I’ve heard great things about Nyx butter lip balms so I was happy to see one in this month’s glam bag, I got the shade red velvet which has a slight red tint to it. And really who doesn’t need a tinted lip balm? It adds a nice pop of colour while still hydrating your lips! Such a staple for the cold winter months.

I also got a Cailyn mineral eye shadow in the shade #5 orchid. It’s a really beautiful bronzy- champagne colour. I don’t love the foam applicator that comes with it, but the product itself seems really blendable and highly pigmented. I’m excited to give this a try on the eyes and see how long it lasts!

Next is the cool way boost repair hair serum which you use instead of conditioner in the shower. I’ve never been one for hair treatments but this one is paraben, sulfate, formaldehyde, and colour free, as well as cruelty free which really makes me want to use it. I’ll keep you guys posted on how I get on with this stuff!

last but not least was a little bonus in my glam bag this month, I’m not sure why they sent it, maybe a little Christmas gift but I’m so excited about!
Tarte lights, camera, lashes mascara is one that I’ve really wanted to try for a while! I used it this morning and I really like it! It separate’s my lashes well and adds the perfect amount of volume, we’ll see how well it wears.

Let me know if you guys have used any of these!

Today’s movie is going to be Christmas with the Cranks, I’ve never seen it so I’m looking forward to watching it!

I’m heading shopping with my friend Maddie this afternoon and then possibly to the Toronto Christmas Market with Carmen this evening.
What’re you guys getting up to tonight?
I hope you guys have a beautiful Friday!
Until tomorrow,

Blogmas day 11! – My favourite 14 things about the Holiday Season!

Hello beautiful people!
There are officially 14 days until Christmas! That’s only two weeks!!! I’m so incredibly excited, so in honour of my excitement and the fact that there are only 2 weeks until the best day of the year, todays post is going to be my top 14 favourite things about the Christmas season!
First as always:

Number one:
Of course it’s all the time I get to spend with my friends and family. People come home from school and out of town and it just makes this time of year so magical, lots of togetherness which I love.

Number two:
The good eats! All the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and of course all the delicious sweets. This is the time of year where comfort food is a must, and there’s nothing better than breaking bread with good people.

Number three:
Christmas trees, one of my favourite traditions is decorating the tree with my family, but there’s just something about sitting next to my tree in the evening looking at the lights that just puts a big smile on my face.
*Yes that is a bow on my head

Number four:
Snow! This white fluffy stuff is so magical to me! I love how Christmas lights look once there’s snow on the ground, everything just looks beautiful covered in snow.

Number five:
Christmas music! Every chance I get as soon as December hits I’m listening to Christmas tunes. The Michael Buble holiday album is my favourite this year!

Number six:
Festive drinks! Apple cider, hot chocolate, mint tea; I’ll take it all! As long as it’s in a cute mug and accompanied by something sweet I’m a happy little elf.

Number seven:
Decorations. I love seeing how festive all the shops get, and people go all out with lights on their houses, it just makes the time of year seem so jolly!

Number eight:
Dark lips & glitter. What kind of beauty blogger would I be if I didn’t mention make-up? This time of year is the perfect excuse to wear as much glitter as you want! Either on your eyes, or your nails or your outfit; bring it on!
Dark lips are also a great trend that comes around every year at this time, it just adds sophistication and sexiness to any outfit or event!

Number nine:
Gifts – obviously. Definitely not the most important part of the season but I personally love shopping for gifts and watching people receive them. I try to put as much thought as possible into the gifts that I buy,and I like to see people react when they open them. And of course I like getting gifts because really, who doesn’t?

Number ten:
The fashion, I love getting to wear big sweaters and scarves and warm woolly hats and mittens. Everything about the fashion this time of year is so cozy and very comfort oriented which is always a plus!

Number eleven:
The candles, this time of year always has the sweetest and spiciest smelling candles which always puts me in a very festive mood ( Not that I need much help in that department)

Number twelve:
This time of year always has the best gift sets! Cosmetic related or otherwise, you can always find gift sets with great products for cheaper than they normally would be on their own.

Number thirteen:
The movies – Christmas movies are fun to watch with loved ones and really it’s the only time of year you get to watch your holiday favourites.
Speaking of movies – Today’s is A Christmas Story which is one of my dad’s holiday favourites.

Number fourteen:
Christmas day! My whole family comes over and we spend the day chatting, playing games, and eating delicious food and it’s just the best day of the year!

I hope this made you feel festive!
Let me know what some of your favourites are!
Until tomorrow,
