November Favourites!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you’re all getting as amped up for the Christmas season as I am! Oh and happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my American readers out there. Hopefully if you’ve been taking advantage of the black Friday sales you’re being super safe! And also getting some great deals!

This month I threw a few none beauty favourites in just to make it a little whimsical and also I’ve just really been loving these particular things like no bodies business! But I’ll start with the beauty because it’s the most fun.

First off is the NARS blush in the shade Almeria ($35) which is part of their holiday collection. Can we just take a second to talk about how freaking gorgeous their holiday packaging is!? I’m in love.
I’m a massive fan of NARS as a brand in general but there’s something about their blushes that just makes my heart race and this one had to come home with me. It’s a beautiful sort of rusty pink colour with a slightly berry tone in it as well, there’s a tiny hint of shimmer in there which adds the most subtle and natural glow to your cheeks which is perfect for this time of year. I have not stopped wearing this because I love how it makes my skin look, but I think its limited edition which means it much be cherished!

Next is the Kat Von D studded Kiss lipstick in the shade lovecraft ($26) The packaging on this is also super cute!
I’m sure you’ve heard other bloggers/YouTubers talking about this lipstick. It’s a really gorgeous dusty rose colour with a slight brown tint as well, this colour is very “Kylie Jenner” esque which I know is super on trend at the moment. I like this colour for everyday because it adds a little something to your look without being a full on bold lip, and the formulation is nice and creamy. All in all I’ve been loving this baby, it also smells like vanilla which is my all-time favourite scent!

Last beauty favourite is the Flower Beauty About Face foundation ($13.50) I recently did a post on this so I won’t go into too much detail, but I’ve really been enjoying this foundation throughout November. It’s got good coverage, it’s not totally matte and it’s not full on dewy; it just adds a nice glow to the skin. If you’re looking for a new drugstore foundation I would definitely try this one out, it’s exclusively at Walmart!

Onto the-none beauty faves!
First is the Bath and Body Works Frosted Cranberry candle. This is what I consider a transition candle, you don’t want to start burning those real christmasy candles too early, and this one for me is just christmasy enough without singing carols if that makes any sense! It smells like you’d expect it to, a nice cranberry scent with a little bit of sweetness too, not overpowering and really pleasant. Go give it a sniff!

Every single time I’ve been near a David’s Tea I’ve had to go in and order an Organic Vanilla Chai iced tea latte, they’re so dang good! The Vanilla adds a tiny bit of sweetness which cuts on the spiciness of the chai, it’s honestly just divine! I asked Carmen to buy me some of the tea for Christmas so I can make them at home!

Last but definitely not least is the TV show The 100! My friend Lisha suggested this to me and I was hooked from the very first episode! It’s on Netflix and there’s 1 full season and the second season gets a new episode added once a week, so pace yourself if you’re going to get into it! I don’t want to give too much away, but basically it’s about these 100 prisoners who get sent back to earth from space after 97 years on “the Arc” which is their space station. The planet got nuked so people couldn’t live on it, but the 100 prisoners who get sent back are all under 18, and they have to survive all on their own to make sure earth is still habitable! I may not be explaining this very well, but if you love the hunger games and divergent you will love this show! It’s awesome.

That’s it for November’s favourites, but don’t forget that Blogmas here on Laauraborealis starts on Monday! If you didn’t read my last post, basically I’m going to be blogging every day until Christmas just letting you know what I’m getting up to! Also I’ve challenged myself to watch a Christmas movie a day during blogmas as well!

You guys are the best!
Until next time,

**Just a little disclaimer – The pictures of the tea and “The 100” are from google, all the other pictures I took myself.

November Topbox!

Hello beautiful people!
I haven’t done a Topbox post in a while so I figured it was about time, especially since my November box was quite a good’un!

First thing I need to rave about is the UniqOne all in one hair treatment ($19.95 full size). This is a spray in product that you can apply to damp or dry hair, and it’s said to do 10 different things to your hair; from repairing damage to heat protection to adding body! and let me tell you it does all it says on the bottle and BONUS is that it’s owned by Revlon, which is one of my all-time favourite drugstore brands. I applied it to my damp hair after showering and I could feel a difference instantly, once I blow dried my hair it was like I had just walked out of the salon! My hair looked and smelled incredible. I will definitely be picking up the full size of this baby because my hair has never looked better at home!

I’m a huge fan of the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, so when I saw the Flawless Future caplet serum ($72 full size) in this month’s box I was pretty jazzed. This stuff looks so beautiful in the bottle and pumps out onto your hand looking quite “mother of pearl” esque,I’ve only used this a couple of times but so far I’m really liking it. The caplets have a little bit of shimmer to them which does come out on your skin, but once you apply your moisturizer it just creates a really nice radiance which comes through even after you’ve applied your foundation. This serum absorbs really quickly and feels slightly tacky on the skin for a minute or two which I don’t mind because again once you apply your moisturizer it’s totally fine. Like I said, I’ve only used this a couple of times so I can’t go in depth on benefits and what not, but I do like it so far although the price is a little high for me. Let me know if you use this and what you think!

I was excited to see an Eyeko product because I’ve heard such great things about this line. I got the Black magic mascara ($24 full size) which is supposed to add drama and curl to your lashes, which it absolutely does. The formula of this baby is incredible! It separates and adds volume without clumping. It says it’s slightly waterproof so it’s still easy to get off but it doesn’t budge at all; no flaking or printing! I’ll definitely be reaching for this for the next few weeks.

I saved my least favourite for last, I’ve used the Benefit beauty stay flawless 15 hour primer ($38 full size) before and I’m really not a fan of it. I don’t like that it comes in a stick, and I find it quite tacky on my skin, I also find my foundation doesn’t layer nicely on top of it so this is a bit of a thumbs down for me. I’m sure there are tons of people who love this! It’s just not for me.

That’s everything I got in my November Topbox! Let me know if you guys have tried these!
Also I wanted to let you know that for the month of December I’m going to be doing “Blogmas” which is my own little version of “vlogmas” since I don’t have a YouTube channel yet. I’ll be blogging every day until the 25th just keeping you updated on what I’m getting up to, as well as opening my Ciate Mini Manor Month nail polish advent calendar AND I’m challenging myself to watch a Christmas movie a day until the 25th as well! So I’ll be posting about all the festive stuff I’m getting up to.

Don’t forget to hit all the good buttons!
You guys are the best

Bite Beauty Holiday Kit Review

Hello beautiful people!
It’s finally snowing here in Toronto and I’m so excited! I don’t know about you guys but I absolutely love the snow. It makes everything look magical and amazing, trees and houses look more beautiful, even Christmas lights look prettier when there’s snow on the ground. Not to mention it creates the coziest environment, whenever it snows I just want to sit with a cozy blanket and watch a movie or drink apple cider. (Snow addiction ramble over)

I recently picked up the Bite Beauty “Best Bite Remix” Holiday kit ($29) and I’m over the moon with the lip crayons in this kit so I had to tell you guys about it because it’s incredible value for money and would make a great Christmas gift without breaking the bank.

This beautiful little set comes with 4 mini high pigment lip pencils, it’s packaged in a little tin that has a pretty good size mirror in the lid but other than that isn’t the most practical packaging.
The name of these babies speaks for itself, they have incredible pigmentation not to mention the formulation is really good. They aren’t matte but they’re not overly glossy, they stay on your lips really well and since they’re made by bite beauty they’re actually food grade. Which means you’re not introducing anything nasty into your system and the colours are gorgeous as well.

Sablé is a beautiful nude colour that would look gorgeous for everyday or paired with a smoky eye

Rhubarb is a slightly plumy colour which is a little darker than my natural lip colour, this one is actually my favourite in the whole kit.

Winterberry is a wine shade which is a little more purple than red and would look gorgeous with a little black dress at a holiday party.

Pomegranate is pure red, it’s actually a great red to wear with winged liner and some glitter if you’re feeling festive.

I can’t rave about this kit enough, it’s honestly incredible. If you know someone who would love a kit like this whether they’re a beginner or a make-up junkie like all of us this little guy will come in handy for sure. It would also make a great stocking stuffer or you could even break it up and give one to four friends OR you could keep it for yourself because it’s awesome.
Until next time,

FLOWER Beauty review

Hello beautiful people!
If you follow me on Instagram you know I was super excited last week that I finally found FLOWER beauty in my local Walmart. For those of you who don’t know; FLOWER beauty is owned and developed by Drew Barrymore who I think is fabulous and a lot of people have told me I look like her- I don’t really think so though.
I didn’t pick up everything in the range because that would have gotten quite expensive but I did pick up a few things and I’m happy to share my thoughts with you guys!
The packaging is super cute for the whole line – all the metallic accents are in rose gold which is beautiful and makes the product look a little more expensive. In general the pricing on the products is great, I think the foundation was the only thing I bought that was over $10

About face foundation in the shade – LF1 ($13.50)
I Love that this is a drugstore foundation with a pump! Also the formulation is quite thick so you really only need one pump of product for your whole face, it has a medium to full coverage and blends really beautifully over the skin with a semi-matte finish. I wore this for an evening out and when I got home it still looked pretty good, so I’m happy with how it wears. All in all I’m really impressed with this foundation!

Lighten Up! Illuminating concealer – BC1 ($7.98)
I wouldn’t consider this super illuminating but it is quite a light coverage so it’s nice for under the eyes but not necessarily for blemishes. I’m not a huge fan of the twist up packaging because I feel like you waste a lot of product and also you don’t get as much as you do with a tube concealer. The consistency is really creamy and easy to blend, but I really only use this when I’ve had a lot of sleep and drank a lot of water the day before because it doesn’t cover dark circles that well. I wouldn’t say this is my favourite concealer but it’s nice for a light make up day.

Shadow play quad – in Foxy browns ($9.98)
The quad has a nice magnetic close with a satisfying shutting sound (if you know what I mean) it comes with 3 shimmery shades and 1 matte. I find the matte shade slightly chalky but it blends beautifully and applies without streaking, the shimmery shades are super buttery and soft but don’t have the greatest pigmentation but it’s definitely buildable. I like the colours and find this it makes a really nice light make up look and it’s easy to travel with.

Zoom – in ultimate mascara twist 3-in-1 ($7.98)
I love the packaging of this but it is honestly the worst mascara I’ve ever used in my life. It’s a 3-in-1 so you twist the wand depending how much volume you want which is the coolest thing about this. I don’t like the wand at all, it’s plastic and kind of made my eyes sore. The formula is good, it doesn’t flake or smudge but it clumps like nobody’s business. It honestly made it look like I had 4 eye lashes, so unfortunately this was a huge thumbs down for me.

Kiss stick: high- shine lip colour in ginger lily ($6.98)
Nice colour, slightly dusty for a your lips but better colour, and I like that she named all the lip products after flowers. It’s very moisturizing with a good amount of shine but it doesn’t move around too much and the colour lasts quite a while. Big thumbs up!

Kiss stick: velvet lip colour in Rosey Garden ($6.98)
This is one of the matte lipsticks in the collection and I really like it. It’s a gorgeous deep pink colour that I think will be great to wear to a holiday party or dinner out. It’s a nice formulation and doesn’t dry out my lips too much at all.

Colour play cream eye shadow in awesome blossom ($7.98)
This is a nice cream shadow, creamy and blends nicely and the colour is gorgeous! A nice deep brown with slightly burgundy undertones. I like that it doesn’t have too much glitter but it’s still more than regular shimmer, and it looks beautiful on the lids. I wore it by itself and it makes a nice soft smoky eye or you can add a deeper shadow on top for a more dramatic look. I did find it creased a little bit after a few hours but I think it would hold out for a night out or party.

Shine on lip gloss in lovely lotus ($6.98)
If you’ve been reading my posts for a while you’ll know I raved about the Urban Decay naked lip glosses and I think I finally found a decent dupe for them! This gloss is divine, not too sticky and has great pigmentation while being super moisturizing. They’re very long lasting and I picked one that didn’t have shimmer, and it doesn’t have a smell which is kind of nice. For the price I will definitely be picking up a few more of these!

I’m really happy with the quality of these especially for the price, I wish I liked the mascara more but such is life. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think of them!
Until next time my loves,

October Favourites!

Hello Beautiful people!
I hope you all had an exceptional weekend and a safe and fun Halloween!
My sister threw a Halloween party so Carmen and I went dressed up as Sully and Boo from monsters INC, we had a lot of fun and I’m still trying to finish off the left over candy! What did you guys dress up as?

I don’t know about you guys but when the weather gets chillier I have a tendency to switch up some of my products that are a little more full coverage and matte as opposed to the dewy and sheer finishes that are so beautiful in the warmer months.
I think it’s because the colder months are full of comfort food, sweet treats and lots of apple cider and hot chocolate which is not great for your skin! And of course the holidays are a great time to play with your make up looks and wear a little bit more than you normally would!
My first favourite is the boi-ing concealer from Benefit in the shade 01 ($26), I was loving this in October for blemishes and under the eyes. It has a very creamy and bendable consistency but it is quite thick and very full coverage which I felt like I needed after traveling and all the sweets I’ve been eating. This product layers beautifully over all my foundations and is a perfect match for my skin tone, it does crease a little bit under the eyes but that doesn’t bother me too much because most concealers crease on me.

Next is the Rimmel scandaleyes waterproof kohl kajal eye liner in the shade 005 nude ($7.99). I’ve really been loving using this on the water line, especially when I’m going for a really bold lip and a neutral eye because I find it just brightens and opens up my eyes so nicely. This is a great tip just for everyday because it makes your eyes look so much bigger!

Too faced better than sex mascara ($30) has not left my make-up bag since I bought the full size at the beginning of the month. This mascara coats my lashes beautifully in product and is buildable to get a really sexy and full volume lash look. It flakes a little bit after wearing it for a few hours but again, the way my lashes look with this mascara on, it doesn’t bother me to wipe a few flakes out from under my eyes. This mascara is expensive but the results are amazing! And Sephora has a lot of great gift sets that include the full size as well as some deluxe samples at the moment, so if you’ve been itching to try this I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Before I left for Texas I got my eyebrows tinted a pretty dark brown colour, mostly because I didn’t want to have to fill them in everyday and because bold brows are very in right now. When I get home and the tint had faded a little bit I needed something darker to fill them in, so I found the Benefit cosmetics brow-zings palette in my collection and I am obsessed. I have the shade light ($38) the kit comes with a powder and a tinted wax, 2 brushes and a little pair of tweezers. I love the powder because it’s a great colour, it’s a taupe with a little bit of an ashy quality, once I’ve filled them in with the powder I use the little angled brush and apply the wax over top to darken them and help them stay in place. My brows have never looked so good! I think I’ll be using this a lot through the colder months because I’m loving how they look when they’re a little darker.

Bite beauty cashmere lip cream in Bordeaux ($32) has been my go-to bold lip all month. It’s a beautiful burgundy shade with intense pigmentation. It’s got a good creamy consistency so it doesn’t dry out your lips, it’s not a super glossy formulation but it’s not completely matte either. The bottle comes with a doe-foot applicator, but you could apply it with a brush for a less intense dose of colour or go right on with the applicator for full on pigmentation. I think it’s going to stay in my make-up bag for holiday parties and dinners because this stuff has great staying power, obviously if you’re eating you’re going to need to re-apply but all in all it doesn’t slide around too much – I’d use a straw for your drinks though.

Those are some of the products I was loving in October, let me know what some of yours were!
And keep your eyes peeled for my next post which is going to be my everyday fall/winter make-up look!
Don’t forget to hit all the good buttons!
until next time my loves,
