August Topbox!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and you’re enjoying this fabulous Sunday whatever it is you may be getting up to.
Last week I got my August topbox in the mail which is always exciting, because I absolutely love getting mail.
When you’re subscribed to topbox they actually e-mail you a few weeks before they send them out and ask you to set a wish list, which is normally for a box that is sponsored by one specific brand, so for August I picked the Benefit topbox on my wish list and actually received it! which is awesome because I really wanted to try out a couple of these products.
This benefit topbox was “They’re real” themed as they’ve recently brought out a few new products in that range, so I was quite interested to see what those were like since they they’re real mascara is such a smash hit internationally.
Speaking of which I did receive a sample of the they’re real mascara and to be honest this is not my favourite but I do enjoy using it for long days or nights out because the formulation does really stay put without flaking or smudging! In terms of length I do find it to be quite a nice product but it definitely clumps in my lashes, which is not a look I’m a fan of for everyday use. I also find it to be quite expensive at 29$ for a full size so I’ll probably just keep using the samples I get (I have about 5).

Next I got the they’re real remover which I wasn’t the biggest fan of. I don’t really like cream eye make-up removers to begin with and I found this one to really smudge product around making even more of a mess all over my face as opposed to nicely removing it without too much smudging. It does break down eye liner and mascara well though, it’s gentle and doesn’t tug, I just put some on a cotton pad and held it on my eyes for about 30 seconds and then started to gently wipe away all my eye make-up, it just smudged it a lot which I found annoying. If you like cream eye make-up removers this is probably a great product for you, but I think I’ll stick to my liquid one from shoppers drug mart which is also a lot cheaper as this one is $22.

I am a huge fan of the urban decay primer potion and had never really tried any other primer but I was pleasantly surprised with the benefit stay don’t stray eye primer. It has a doe foot applicator making it easy to apply, and a nice creamy formula that isn’t too sticky. I got sent the colour medium deep which is a little dark, I would probably pick up the lighter one if I was going to purchase a full size ($30). The cool thing about this is that you can use it under your eyes to set your concealer as well to keep it from creasing which is why I would want the lighter shade, but for my lids this sample was perfectly fine. I used this and went out for about 8 hours and when I got home I didn’t have a single crease in my shadow so I was truly impressed and may be picking this up when I run out of my primer potion. Huge thumbs up to this baby.

Last I got the new benefit they’re real push up liner which I was very anxious to try as everyone has been talking about it ($29). It’s a little bit odd at first because it’s a gel formula but it comes out of this little rubber tip which is supposed to mould to the shape of your eye making it easier to apply. The sample is quite small so I found it hard to use because the sample is so small and when you “push it up” it comes out in a glob so I found I was putting a blob on the back of my hand and sort of dabbing the applicator into it and then applying the liner to my lid which is a lot of effort for something like this. The formula is gorgeous though, the liner is matte black and super smudge proof which is great if you’re wearing it all day/night, I hope that with the full size product it’s easier to hold but I found it pretty hard to navigate. If the actual liner came in a pot I would be more inclined to buy it and use it with a brush, but I’m definitely not going to give up and keep using the sample to see if I can get the hang of it because the gel liner itself is gorgeous.

That’s everything I got in my August Benefit topbox, let me know in the comments if you guys have used any of these products and have any tips or tricks.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Haul!

Hello beautiful people!
Happy Friday! Hopefully you all have sweet plans for the weekend, whether you live in Toronto and are going to the Ex or, if you live somewhere else and are just staying home to relax – I hope it’s wonderful.

A couple of weeks ago I placed an order on because there were a few things I wanted to try out and I got an e-mail saying it was 4x the points for VIB Rouges, so to get even more point’s I asked my mom if she needed anything and we ended up spending over 300 dollars which got me around 1200 points! woohoo!
So Monday when I woke up with my swollen face and dragged myself out of bed, I was so excited to see a little brown box waiting for me! I didn’t include my mom’s stuff in this haul as it’s all her skin care and not all that exciting haha

First thing I wanted to pick up was the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara. I used to use the original diorshow which I loved, but it just got too expensive so I switched to less expensive ones. Lately all my mascara’s had been letting me down so I thought I’d try this one out even though it’s a little pricey ($35). I’ve used it 3 or 4 times and I’m still not sure how I feel about it, the formulation is great! It doesn’t really flake or transfer under the eyes which is great especially If you’re wearing it all day, and I do find that this really holds a curl, my lashes are definitely not dropping throughout the day. I’m just not sure I LOVE the way it makes my lashes actually look. It’s quite a clumpy formulation, and makes them a little bit crispy almost which is I guess how they hold their curl so well, but I’m not in love with the way my lashes look once I’ve put this on. I’m going to keep trying it, and hopefully I won’t have to return it, I’ll keep you guys posted, let me know if you use this and what you think or if there’s some trick to it.

This next product I was super stoked about because I’m already a die-hard fan of the original Kat Von D tattoo liner in trooper, she just brought out a new liquid liner called the ink liner so of course I had to pick it up ($23). This liner is different from the tattoo liner because it’s a felt tip as opposed to a brush tip, I honestly am not a huge fan of felt tip liners and I did find this one a little bit hard to work with at first but the formulation is just incredible. It’s a really intense black and creates a bolder line than the tattoo liner which has a finer brush allowing you to build your cat eye. I’m curious to see how fast it dries out in comparison to her other one and to see if the felt tip fray’s at all, I guess we’ll see. All in all I’m really impressed with this liner I think I just need a little more practice with the felt tip but I think her tattoo liner is still going to stay my holy grail liquid liner.

The last thing I actually purchased was this St. Tropez self tan starter kit. Now I have never self tanned, ever and I was very nervous to buy this product but for $32 I figured I’d give it a try. I’ve always wanted to self-tan but because I’m so pale I was nervous I would turn out orange no matter what product I used, but I have been assured that the St. Tropez products are really good so hopefully it all goes alright. The kit includes a mit, and travel sized of the tan enhancing body polish, tanning mousse, and tan enhancing body lotion. I haven’t used this yet but I’m going to get the courage up in a week or two and get Amber to help me as she’s done it before. If you guys have any tips please let me know in the comments!

Now when you order from Sephora online you get to choose 3 samples that they’ll send to you, the samples the day I ordered weren’t great but they did have the new glam glow thirstymud (the blue one) which I had been wanting to try so I got that one, a dr. brandt self-adjusting bb cream that I’ll probably give my mom because I’m always too pale for self-adjusting product’s. last but not lease I got a jack black double duty face moisturizer which I’ll likely give to my brother in-law.

I also found a code online which allowed me to get a mini manicure kit for free, it came with a sample of the Sephora formula x cuticle erasing cream and cuticle oil which I’m excited to try out although I love my OPI cuticle oil. It also came with two different types of nail polish removing wipes, the Josie Maran bear naked nail wipes which smell like grapefruit and the butter London scrubbers pad, I think these will be kept in the make up bag I keep in my purse because you never know when you need an emergency fix. Finally it came with this tiny little sample of the L’occitane dry skin hand cream which is also going straight into my purse because it’s just so cute and little and a girl can never have too much lotion.

Last thing before you check out is they ask if you want to spend any of your beauty insider points, normally I’ll skip this step or pick up the odd 100 point perk but this time I has like 2000 points and I figured I’d spend some since I’m getting 4x the points for the purchase and I’d just get them back anyhow. So I picked this Marc Jacobs highliner gel eye crayon in the colour brownout, at first I was super excited about this but once I swatched it I realised there are pretty big glitter particles in it so I wouldn’t be using it to line the line or define the lash line at all. The formulation is gorgeous though, super creamy and really easily blended and it stays in place, I found it hard to remove the swatch from my hand with a wipe. I will definitely use this as a base for a smokey eye, or even by itself as a smokey eye because the colour is pretty it’s just the glitter that threw me off.

For 500 points I got this Benefit “hotrageous hits” which is pretty much just a sample pack of 5 of their best sellers, most of which I already have. I really wanted this because there’s a sample size of Hoola the matte bronzer which I’ve really been wanting to try and am super stoked to use.

That’s everything I got in my haul! Let me know if you guys would like to see more posts like this! And don’t forget to hit all the good buttons!
Have a fantastic weekend, you guys are the best!
Until next time,

My very first Ipsy Glam Bag!

Hello beautiful people!
I hope you all had a much better week/weekend than I did, as I spent mine lying on a couch icing my swollen chipmunk face. On the plus side, I did manage to watch about 15 movies and eat lots of jell-o and pudding but all in all I will say that having your wisdom teeth removed is a huge bummer! BUT while I was lying there feeling sorry for myself I got a couple packages in the mail!

Friday I received my very first Ipsy Glam Bag! Which is a similar subscription to Topbox where you receive deluxe samples or full size products once a month, Ipsy is slightly cheaper than Topbox at 10$ a month but I recently cancelled my subscription to julep so I thought I’d give this one a try.

My August glam bag came in an adorable little white and orange polkadot pencil case since their August theme was “beauty schooled” since a lot of people are heading back to school next month.

I received a deluxe sample of an Urban Decay 24/7 velvet glide-on eye pencil in the colour Plushie, which is a gorgeous matte dark purple colour. I have a full size turquoise one and I love the formulation of these, they really do stay all day, glide on and have incredible pigmentation. I’m super excited to get into using this colour when fall comes around!

This next product came in handy when I was too lazy to wash my hair because my face hurt, and it’s the laboratories Klorane extra-gentle dry shampoo with oat milk. I found this quite nice as dry shampoo’s go, it says to “spray a small quantity of powder 12 inches away from head directly on scalp. Leave for 2 minutes then brush though”, I followed the instructions and it worked really well to absorb grease and add a bit of volume without leaving a white residue in my hair. As for scent, it smells quite fresh and slightly botanical – I don’t love the scent but it’s not heinous enough for me not to use the product. I love that this is such a small size which is perfect for my purse if I need a quick root refresher after work or on the go.

I was so surprised to see a mini eye shadow quad in a sample service bag! I didn’t think a lot of them sent them out, and I’ve never received anything like this from Topbox so I was really impressed.
CoastalScents isn’t a company I had heard of before so I checked out their website; they have a lot of palettes available in big blockbusters with like 88 colours, and the prices seem really affordable. This little quad is called eye shadow sample set 23. The colours from top left to bottom right are called Persian pink, baby pink, pink silver and Icelandic. I can see myself getting use out of the bottom two but not so much the top two as eye shadows, they might be cute as blushes or even to use as touch ups throughout the day since this is such a tiny size. They’re quite velvety in texture and the pigmentation is surprisingly good, I may have to browse their website a little more after playing with these shadows even though their not the typical colours I would have chosen.
They also have a section of their website where you can buy the supplies to make your own bath bombs which is super cool and I may actually give that a shot!

I also got a Manna Kadar sheer glo shimmer lotion in my glam bag, again a brand I’d never heard of which is one of the best things about sample subscriptions. This is a cream highlighter which you can use for face and body, and even add it to your foundation. It looks pink in the tube but once you blend it out it just adds this gorgeous glow to your skin, it doesn’t look too shimmery at all it just adds like this natural radiance to your skin making it almost look wet but not in a gross way just in a beautiful way. I will definitely be using this on the tops of the cheek bones, cupids bow, maybe even on my chest and legs for a night out. Even though this sample is super small I can already tell that a little goes a long way with this product, also I’m super excited to try adding this to some of my foundations to see how it looks.

Last is a Jersey Shore Sun mongongo nutrient dense anti-aging lip conditioner, what a mouthful!
This is a completely organic product which is awesome, and is in the scent mandarin green orange ginger, but it mostly just smells like oranges. I can’t say I’m over the moon with this product because it doesn’t do anything for me that my Burt’s Bee’s doesn’t do, aside from the fact that It’s a 100% organic product. With winter coming I figure I can never have enough lip balms, and this one is hydrating and nourishing so I’ll definitely be keeping it on my bedside table.

That’s it for this post my loves, let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these products or if you’re subscribed to Ipsy and you love it, I love hearing from you guys!
Don’t forget this good buttons and I’ll have a new post coming for you soon since I got another package in the mail while I was couch-ridden! It mayyy or may not be a haul so keep your eyes peeled!
until next time,

July Favourites!

Hello beautiful people!
Two posts in one week, I’m on a role! but I also wanted to throw in an extra post because I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed this afternoon and probably wont have another post up for about a week as I’ll be recovering from that!

I know I say this every month but I really cannot believe how quickly August has come to us! I saw a commercial for back to school shopping the other day and nearly spit out my coffee, I can’t believe summer is nearly over. Although I would be lying if I said I wasn’t super excited for fall! It’s my favourite time of year! But,July brought quite a few favourites as it was my birthday month, and I also found I was trying out a lot of new things throughout July, so let’s dig in.

My first favourite is my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, now I know this came out ages ago but I couldn’t convince myself to buy it because I have a billion neutral palettes and I just couldn’t do it. But a week or so before my birthday I went into Sephora and just seemed to gravitate towards it, and Amber who is my best friend but we are the worst when we shop together because we feed the other’s make-up addictions. So she convinced me (not that I needed a lot of convincing) to pick it up, and I told myself it was an early birthday present to myself haha. I have to say though I am not sorry at all that I spent the money on this palette ($62) It is absolutely beautiful and I love the pink tones in all the colours. I also find the tones really flattering for my skin tone and eye colour, basically I’ve been wearing this every single day since I bought it.

I unfortunately ran out of my favourite leave in conditioner in July and I have been unable to find it anywhere since! I think they may have discontinued it, so to my dismay I had to go on a hunt for a new one and let me tell you It was a struggle but in the end I was highly highly impressed with the Dove nourishing oil care leave in cream ($6). This stuff is meant to control frizz and leave your hair feeling smooth and soft and shiny, as it’s enriched with oils. It really does everything it says on the bottle and smells great to boot, I apply about a dime sized amount of this to my towel dried hair starting at the ends and working whatever’s left on my hands into the rest of my hair and I find it really does leave my hair softer and smoother no matter how I style it, I really can’t complain about the price either as it’s so reasonable, I may have found a new favourite. Leave a comment below if you have a favourite or and recommendations for me!

Next was a birthday gift from Amber, and let me tell you I am a spoiled girl. It’s a beautiful Tory Burch wallet; I absolutely adore this wallet because it’s so sophisticated and chic and will match any purse I ever buy. I couldn’t believe it when I opened it because it’s just so luxurious and gorgeous, I feel like a very classy lady every time I pull this out of my bag. I love that it’s all black with beautiful gold hardware, just elegant and grown up and also fits all my cards which is amazing because I have a ton of cards. I didn’t want to look up the price as it was a gift but I’m sure it’s on her website if you want to check it out!

This is a product I’ve had in my collection a while and sort of forgot about and only used occasionally but it really shone for me in July because I was finding I had a lot of little annoying break outs and this product just made them look like they weren’t there. It’s the Rimmel match perfection 2-in-1 concealer and highlighter. I have this in the colour 125 fair, I didn’t love this product as an under eye concealer but for blemishes it is my best friend, I don’t know if it’s because it’s slightly more yellow toned or what but it just did the best job at covering my break outs and making me feel way better about my skin. I wish we had the whole match perfection line in Canada but unfortunately we only have the concealer, but I will definitely be repurchasing this ($7) because it really did wonders for me last month!

Last is another birthday gift which I got from my Sister Kate and my brother in-law Wes which also shows that I am a very spoiled lady and it’s the Fujifilm instax-mini 8 in yellow, which is basically a polaroid camera. I think this is absolutely adorable and going to be super handy for fun days out when I don’t want to bring my digital and people can just take the pictures with them if they want. I know they come in tons of colours but I really loved the look of this baby yellow, Kate and Wes were also kind enough to get me a case so I can keep it safe and carry it around my neck when I’m not using it. It came with 2 film refills, each canister has 10 photos in it so I’m definitely going to have to stock up on film because I’m going to be using it a lot! Such a thoughtful and wonderful gift!

That’s all for now my loves, let me know if you’d like a ‘what I got for my birthday’ post and I would be happy to write it for you all.
Leave me comments as I always love to hear from you guys and don’t forget to follow me on instagram because there may be some photo’s of my post-wisdom teeth chipmunk face!
Until next time,

Birthday outfit and make-up look!

Hello beautiful people! I hope you all had a wonderful week!
As some of you may know from my previous post last Saturday (July 26th) was my 23rd birthday! It was a really incredible weekend full of family and friends and definitely made me appreciate the amazing people that I have in my life. Saturday night I went out to a pub here in Toronto called Paupers with a few friends and had some drinks and food and a lot of laughs! I thought I’d do a post about the outfit I wore and the make-up I used!

Unfortunately in all my excitement with it being my birthday and all I completely forgot to get someone to take a photo of just me and my outfit! (I know, so bad I’m sorry!) So I just have this one of me and Carmen, but I took a photo of everything all laid out for you guys so you could see them a little more closely as well.
photo 1 (1)

I wore a peplum top from Anthropologie which I got on sale for $30! I love this top because it’s a soft fabric and the bottom is scalloped which I think is really cute and feminine, I also love that it has a little peep hole in the back adding a little bit of sexiness to the top. Again so sorry I didn’t take better photos of me in the clothes!

I wore dark skinny jeans from American Eagle ($49.99) which are super comfortable and also super flattering
and finally I wore blue Jeffery Campbell heels which I bought on sale last summer but I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for them. I love these shoes, they’re not so high that I’m going to snap an ankle but they’re high enough that I still feel flirty and cute when I wear them and I adore the fact that they’re blue.
My purse is just a brown little bag I bought from ALDO a million years ago; I wanted to use this because it actually zips up and also because it’s small and easy to carry around. I know it doesn’t match my outfit but it’s also the kind of bag I can toss around and not be worried because it’s so old and well loved.

For make-up I really wanted to do something a little bit smokey but with some colour so I used my brand new Naked 3 palette which I bought myself as an early birthday gift (woops) I used a lot of the colours, really building them up and creating the look I really wanted to achieve and I was super happy with how it came out.
